Ty for the guide. Hwei is a super fun champ to play, and once the meta moves away from assassins I'm sure he will have a much more reasonable win rate.
I hope he stays the way he is now. His spells are quite strong, he is being played in pro play, but he is not overpowered because his lack of dashes makes him very vulnerable. Thats one of the weaknesses that are fun to play arround, its about positionning in a fight and all that. being slightly bellow 50% is great for him.@@aFoolsMartyr
Great guide Tim! I've noticed that the draft section of these guides typically mentions most champions want a jungler with the opposite damage type. This has me wondering if there are some mid lane champions that don't care as much about having damage split? AP junglers like Brand and Lillia are really popular at the moment, combined with strong MR items.

28:50 in case you were confused what he meant here, I just tested it, your ult as of patch 14.18 or any slows like QE do NOT give you the enhanced damage on your QW it has to be HARD CC to get the enhanced damage. He probably said use it with your R since it makes it easier to land isolated W's or he miss spoke. Also I crunched the base values and percentages with predicted amount of ap and he's right about the QE doing most DPS, compared it to a Max 1000 Hp target QQ and it out damaged by 49.6
Also im really sorry to disagree but i dont think you should sit on the ability. Sometimes to scare them, but you shouldnt sit on it. (maybe when you are starting out) As someone who played invoker you can really get used to just pressing QE QW etc... why? Because while the majority of his abilities are kinda nerfed in comparisson to their original counterparts he has something no other champion does: your enemy doesn't know your next move. Will you QE through wave? Will you try to QW them? They know the individual cooldowns on your abilities (like ok so your fear is down) but apart from that they dont know if you go for damage with WE or a shield with WW which can really throw off some dives etc.
If I play hwei against a pokey mage like heimerdinger, I will build abyssal mask after boots and ludens as it gives perfect magic resist and reduces other's magic resist. It actually works very very well.
Idk if it's just me aligning with his playstyle, but I find hwei quite easy compared to other champions. Then again, I also struggle with some champions that are generally considered easy
Amazing guide! One thing I'm seeing a lot of people mention on the combo side of things is casting the WE while the QQ/QE is traveling towards the target. Is there any drawback to precasting the WE to make the combo easier? Are you casting the WE while the QQ is in mid air just for the suprise damage factor? hope that makes sense lol!
It actually makes me so sad that this type of content doesn't get growth porportionate to the amount of effort you put in. There genuinely is not higher effort content that exists in the league sphere.
28:50 Slow doesn't count as CC for the bonus damage of QW - sure, the slow helps with landing the skill (and if the target is isolated that's enough) but if QW hits two enemies, the ultimate slow wont give the bonus damage- It has to be hard cc.

At 13:20 you say that the 50 Item Haste you get from fully stacking ingenius hunter equates to halving the cooldown of items. This is incorrect. 50 haste equates to the items active/passive being available 50% more of the time, which would equal 33% Cooldown Reduction. So the cooldown is not half of what it originally would be, but 2/3 the original. Sundered Sky's 6 second cooldown is reduced to 4 seconds, not 3.
I don't see enough people talk about cosmic drive, it looks like the PERFECT mage item rn but people tend to prefer other items. Would anyone be able to explain to me when cosmic drive would be better/worse than other items? I'm thinking against low mobility all in champions.
question! since you want to be spamming your WE, is biscuits more influential than futures market or boots for an early lane lead? once i get boots / liandrys (either or) i normally start to roam, which is where i think hwei's potential really shines bc of his peel for himself and teammates!
Quick question; the only runes shown are arcane comet main, but the person you thank in your guide is running first strike sometimes. What's up with the discrepancy?
Hwei has a lot of rune options, other examples are electrocute, phase aswell. Feel free to play around with these if you like em! Comet is a rune you cant go wrong with though and 100% the choice when youre unsure what to do
I and a lot more players, just to mention a known one, Azzapp also often go for Malignance, whats your take on that ? I usually go for Malignance or Seraph, into Shadowflame/Rabadon 2nd and 3rd, or a situational defensive or magicpen % item if needed.

I think his winrate will always stay deceptively low because he has such a hard learning curve.

Some AP mid champs that dont rely on CC/Setup are fine with an AP jungler, a good example is Sylas!

50 haste actually means you reduce a third of the cd, because it cools down 150% or 3/2 faster, so the inverse is the remaining cd, 2/3

Another tip is to time your qw to go off right after the last ult hit for max dmg. Can be a little tricky tho

not picking dematerializer is actively trolling, you can clear a full wave with one QE if you use it on 3 melees
Well hwei can QE the wave to clear casters and then finish them melees off with his second Q so i think thtas not necesary

Hey! the reason why biscuits is so good on hwei is because of his ability to dominate lane. Biscuits are an insane resource for doing just that

With the new items of the split 2 is it now better to switch to damage dealer playstyle instead of utility ?
Balckfire Torch first is the most common item i see on Hwei now which gives him a mixture of both!
How do you choose when to go burst or utility
Depending on how tanky the enemy champions are. if theyre quite squishy burst style is rather good :)
What do you think of running Ghost instead of Teleport for extra mobility during fights?
IF you can get away with it and youre comfortable with your laning you can do that!
With the blackfire nerf do you think its still good to build it on hwei?
Situationally yeah! I think ludens,blackfire and seraphs are all viable builds atm

well the malignance is still the same story, theoreticall item is insane on hwei but a bit unfortunate the passive effect just doesnt work properly

the idea of the item is rly good for hwei the problem is the fast that it procs on his first DOT tick whcih makes the active circle rather small
