Thank you for your vid. Just received mine today and hope to use for cooler weather hikes (currently summer in Australia and 42C). Love the light weight compared to my Rush 72.
How durable is the mesh? To me it looks like you can scratch quite easily with an old pine or spruce tree branches. Considering in buying one, but this holds me back.
So far, so good...I haven't had any problems yet. I try to be fairly careful. I have had similar mesh on many other bags and it can snag if you're not careful. I just try to be mindful of my surroundings.
@@outerlimitless not every helikon pack is (was?) great... Raccoon mk1 almost killed my back :[ But nowadays i think i'll give them a second chance... Already bought their Satchel bag and it's quite handy ruclips.net/video/xzgQEDdA-VE/видео.html :-)
I think you'll really enjoy it. I have come to rely on that backpack as my lightweight on two day (overnight) kit bag. It's big enough to get what you need in there with room to spare. If I am efficient with my kit and don't bring extras it's literally the perfect bag for me. Carries nice and is quite comfortable. Keep me posted!!
@@outerlimitless Thank for so detailed review. I am considering this backpack for 1 night camp. I think 40l is plenty of space for summer weekend. To be honest I don't want to purchase real tracking backpack because they look weird in the city but HT Summits looks like oversized city EDC back pack. The only question from my side. Should I consider something different or you have an idea with better alternative? Again, many thanks!
@@rst5nn If you like this style it's a great bag. It will fill your small backpacking role or your day trip role nicely. It's very light yet still fairly durable. And it's hard to beat the price. I kept this bag among the dozens I have owned for a reason. I'm a big fan. I say go for it!
Ok, here's the thing...you can state that...and that is fine...but don't forget that I am a gear tester and reviewer. It is my job to test the functions of the pack. You are looking at this through your ultralight lens. I have to test the straps...I have to test the strength, comfort, and function. That's my job.
I agree there is a balance. These pouches were right on the edge for me. I needed the little extra storage and the bag is meant to attach pouches. In a review it's nice to be able to try it.
Very nice review. I had several thoughts while watching this video. First, of course, is would it be possible to have a professional seamstress (or yourself if you know how to sew) to sew on some extra molle points in the places where you want them? Second thoughts were, wow, that was some beautiful scenery you were walking through. Third, kind of a weird thought I suppose was C'mon guys, keep a 5 meter interval going. Fourth was wondering what you would think about the Helikon Tex Bail Out Bag for what you were doing on this hike. While it does have some attachment capability, it has no molle attachment points at all. Fifth and final, Damn, I need to get into shape so I can go do stuff like this. Oh yeah, I would've liked to see your tent set up in that location. That location looked pretty cool. Got any footage of that?
Thanks for the comments! Well, I have reached out to Helikon Tex to see if they will work with me to make a second version of the bag. My request has gone to their research and development team, so we'll see what happens there. I would like other users to get the advantages I see in the added features. The scenery was insane!! Top 10 places I've been...it was spectacular. What do you mean by 5 meter interval? I think the bail out bag is cool, but not likely the right shape for our particular trip. We were 8 miles deep with lots of gear...the internal organization was not needed versus carry capacity. And I don't really have footage of our campsite, but I was in a DD Hammock Superlight Jungle Hammock. It was a super trip!
I really liked the way you pointed out improvements and tips while in use on the trail.
Thanks! I like shooting videos that capture my thoughts in the act! This was a good example of that!

Would you recommend this bag as a travel rucksack?
It's a light weight bag... so depending on your load and how rough you are with it might depend
Helikon Numbat chest rig is good supplement fot this backpack
I am starting to experiment with chest rigs, but I wonder about the summertime comfort...kinda hot?
This would make an excellent summer pack. I can see a base weight of 12lbs easy.
YES...definitely capable for a light weight kit...was glad to fit my gear nicely in this setup!
Did you review the matilda backpack? Thats an awesome pack!
I have not reviewed the Matilda pack...I can see liking it though...every Helikon Pack I have tested has been awesome.

Awesome review.
Thanks! I love my Helikon Gear!!
Hi I am interesting this backpack.
Could you tell me what is your waist measurement ?
My waist is 29 inches . It's OK ?
Mine is 32...I would need to check. I'll try to get back to you
@@outerlimitless Thank you 🙂
8miles is not a pretty extensive hike.
Did I say it was?
It's enough to determine if a system will work or if a pack is comfortable or not
Did you pack a tarp or tent for shelter?
That trip was a hammock with a tarp. It varies from trip to trip and location to location.
8 miles isn't short, but I wouldn't call that "extensive".
You're going back to carry-the-kitchen-sink concept. The pack frame will collaspe when you start strapping stuff off the pack

If you add much pouches the backpack will be too bulky. If your gear don´t fit you have the wrong backpack or you have to take less with you. ;-)
