Whoa. I feel totally seen. I’m 38 and can relate heavily to you. I’ve worked many jobs. They all seem different but Im going to deep dive more into them to see the commonalities. In my more recent work, my mother scoffed and said, “you don’t know what to do with your life.” I get it from almost everyone in my family and friends. I didn’t stand up for myself. I want to do that going forward.

This resonates. Very nicely presented too. I've explored so much, but only in my head. I've been unable to produce any actual results, just decades of analysis paralysis. I've spent so long in a dead end, mind numbing profession that I now feel incapable and too old to change my life (I'm 47). I ignored the signs to change things around ten years ago when I was in a stronger place. All I hear from my soul is that almost everything drains me, or just feels neutral. I'm at a loss, but your suggestion aligns with what else I've been hearing and feeling lately - meditate, listen to my higher self etc. Maybe there is a path for me, but in any case I know the one I'm on isn't working.

    • @Onemichael
      @Onemichael  10 месяцев назад +11

Thank you @unclepigg for the nice words, and for sharing vulnerably. I've seen people of all ages go through pretty remarkable changes. In my opinion...the fact that you are hearing a message from your soul that there is some incongruence showing up in your life, means that there is a vital force within you that sees what is possible (beyond your rational mind). Feel free to check out my online course. It's all about establishing a mind-body connection to get out of rational analysis paralysis and listen to what your body knows. kindreds.us/uwfs
Inside of my Kindreds online community I plan to have other events and resources over time that you may find helpful as well.
PS - the greatest changes in my life occurred when I was at a loss, too. I learned to just let go and trust the steps that appeared in front of me. This doesn't have to be huge steps at first. As you start listening more carefully to your intuition, your confidence and trust in its wisdom will grow.

I TOTALLY relate to the "multipotentialite" and being good at a few of them. I have done so many things in my life and have done them exceptionally well, which gets people (who really wish I'd settle on something and make money) to tell me I should definitely pursue this. But once I do something well, I want to move on to something because, even I'm good at it, I'm not passionate. Quite an interesting dilemma! It connects with what you mention about our need for integrity, purpose, and sense of mission. I think I'm getting closer to it now that I talk about HSPs!

I rarely do this, but I'm going to comment again. The diagram with the different channels of energy is brilliant. I've known this about myself but seeing a way to chart it brings clarity and satisfaction.
My 5 channels are very similar to yours. They are: Art (visual and literary), Helping Others, Nature Lover, Entrepreneurship, Spirituality. And like you, I now see them all coming together (very auspicious!).
      Kudos! Really great job.

After being left hanging during an interview to return to my old job, I searched for HSP videos because I thought, “I can’t be the only one”. A year ago, I quit my job to pursue a creative path, and it has been so difficult to find balance. Returning to my old job seemed like a way to regain that balance, but I’ve come to realize how important it is to work in a mentally healthy environment ( which of course, wasn’t the case). At 33, with a background in engineering, design, animation and illustration and living in different countries I felt understood, I’m not broken. The tension of my frustration hit me hard-I even cried while watching this video. Thank you for helping us believe.

This is the most helpful video I’ve seen about careers. I’m 24 and wanting to switch to a better paying job, but anywhere I go, at least in my home country, nobody accepts me. I wanted to switch from administrative work to hr work and I always get turned down at beginner hr jobs due to having no experience. It’s like they’re not even supportive of personal growth and change😢 I’m now questioning the whole job market in my area, because why would they be so rigid? People aren’t machines that can just magically level up in only one field. It’s actually weird that they’d need someone like that😂

OMG, this came just in the right time! I totally feel what you are speaking about... I resonate with it ALL! I realized very early on that I dont fit the social norms of work... I tried to be a "normal" person, but my internal compass was poiting other way around. I am still trying to figure out my way... I also have a completely mixed background (Nursing and then Tourism) and I feel that I can't do the same thing for too long, or something that may give me the feeling of being pinned down or "caged". The 9/5 does not work for me. I like arts, health, spirituality, tech and I have a lot of different interests, I consider my self a very creative person, I like to paint, draw, photography and I am starting to feel the only path left for me is to become my own boss and pick things I like to do. I need time flexibility to be happy. I am of the opinion that we should work to live, not live to work...Since I am unemployed I am considering to go full Freelancer and start to invest more in my natural interests and monetize them in some way. I almost feel that this video was a tap from the Universe, to say "Hey, you are not the only one feeling this... maybe after all is good that you dont want to settle for normality" :D But still.. a little bit lost in the way xD But really cool video, gave me some extra motivation actually!

Hi Michael! Fellow HSP here. You have a great way of presenting how HSPs experience the world, the challenges we face, and how to see that who we are is precious and that the world needs us. Congratulations! I'll be back for more.
I discovered the "world" of HSP just a few years ago and it has allowed me to reframe my entire life and given me clarity on my gift to the world. I now use my life to help other HSPs and "misfits" with my channel and upcoming book. (A Splendid Mess: Chronicles of a practically enlightened misfit 😉)
I believe what we do is very important. The more people talk about this, the greater our empowerment, the greater the community, and the greater our much-needed impact on the world.

Thanks so much, Annie! I really appreciate it. Just checked out some of your videos as well, you've got a great channel 🫶
I agree! The more we bring this type of information to light, the more we give each other to claim our unique paths, and the more sensitivity is seen as a gift: something very much needed in the world today. I love the name of your upcoming book, too. One of my mentors uses the phrase "intermittently enlightened" which I think is a fun way of describing this journey of self-discovery and expansion of consciousness.

INTJ HSP here, and you're resonating with my soul . I've had a number of different professional level jobs (BSME by profession). They all start out great, but around the 12 month mark I'm bored, unfulfilled, and looking around for the next opportunity. I'm at a point now where I'm just tired of changing jobs only to start towards the bottom again, which leads me to having a relatively stagnant and flat income over the last 15 years. So, I'm doing the Einstein approach. My job sucks, but I can bang out 40 hrs of work in 15 (work from home allows anonymity here) so I can focus on other hobbies and interests.

This is the perfect video at the right time for me. I have known for years that my path leads me to helping others (quit many a job where I would felt almost sick by doing things that didn't vibe with my ethics/approach). I've been in a job where I kinda help people through technology, and I'm decent at it, but it's not my passion and I always feel like I'm doing them a disservice by not giving my all.
Been journaling lately and had recently started down my journey to become a trainer/coach of sorts to help people pursue excellence. I know that I want to walk the walk before I talk the talk though. I'll get this book and continue to put the puzzle pieces together, one step at a time and trust the process.

Yes, that was helpful! The diagram in particular. It fits what I've felt, and as you were talking, I recognised what would combine my energy paths into one, something I already knew but hadn't admitted out loud. The financial investment needed for it will mean that this will take a long time, but I see it as building blocks. It's the act of building, laying the initial building blocks, that's important rather than the finished build.

Reading this comment section made me feel less alone. We're all looking for ourselves. It's ok to be lost. I'm also 37 and I'm lost. But we're lost together.
You've said so many things in this video that hit the nail in the head! I don't even know where to start.
But there's something you said that mame me feel really good: "Trust the process".
Our bodies have all the answers. And all of those things we feel, that "feels bad", is our bodies showing us the right path, guiding us.
I've been making so many discoveries lately, but the financial situation puts me in a constant fear state, and this is not ideal, I know.
    But I'll keep trusting!
    Well... thank you, Michael.
And thank you, beautiful human being, who is reading this right now. You've got this. I believe in you!

    • @Onemichael
      @Onemichael  10 месяцев назад +2

Thanks for sharing this, @DomBloch, and for being a voice of encouragement for others here. Yes, I think if there is one main takeaway -- trusting the process, which fits right along with trusting the intuition within your body, is the key.
I've been there with the financial fear before and here is how I handle it:
If you imagine that your inner world is an orchestra hall (you can learn more about this model here: onemichael.com/orchestra/), just imagine that you have one section of the orchestra that is concerned about finances, and another section that is concerned with the freedom and abundant self-expression you are seeking.
There's a way that you can honor the fear that is coming up from the finances section, and actually just respect that it is keeping you grounded and aware of your need to pay the bills, etc. It's doing it's job.
On the other hand, you have this other section that just wants to go create and wishes that it didn't have the financial limitations. Maybe it's feeling frustrated or suffocated, for example.
But they both play a role. And if you can give them an opportunity to talk to each other - understanding and valuing the perspective of the other side, they can work together strategically so things can go more smoothly.
One of my mentors suggests taking them on a road trip or a coffee date in your mind. I find it to be a surprisingly useful exercise.
      🙏

@@Onemichael Michael, you're such an amazing being. Thank you so much for this. I have downloaded the orchestra PDF and will dive into it.
I've been going through a healing process for the past 10 years. Today I feel I'm on the edge of the limits of the "last" part. So the amount of pressure of the old self trying to stay is out of this world. But I'm almost there!
Thank you so much for, mainly, listening and taking your time to really help your community.
I wish you all the success!

I have jokingly referred to myself as a middle-aged artsy fartsy flibbertigibbet. I am starting a new chapter in my life, which includes finding a new job and moving to a new city. The one challenge I face is trying to put a decent résumé together. It’s really hard to have confidence while trying to put a positive spin on a less than focused career path. Maybe you could do a video on résumé writing for HSPs and how to have confidence with an unconventional work history.

Thanks Isabel! I don't always tune in with this I am heavy head loaded and not connected to that inner wisdom. this is so hard but I suppose only because I want it to be one way one purpose one thing but I think I should incorporate my joy a lot more and get the logic out the way. I wish there was someone to talk to to get a birds eye view. thanks for giving me permission to be everything and everywhere

Appreciate you sharing, Alicia. I've been there, and I know the feeling. The interesting thing about depression, that i've found, is there is a tension there beneath it - which is actually a beautiful thing. Underneath, there is a wellspring, something that wants to come through. It does require, though, that we sometimes get out of our logical, rational orientation in order to trust that energy to emerge. It sounds like you're on the brink of something great to come.

It has to be said that although the thought and dream of this is wonderful, very utopian and hopeful, the reality is different and. it's difficult to harness and take advantage of your own potential and skills in a brutal and gritty system that forces you to accept the first job that's offered and is willing to hire you, even though you're not suitable or fittable for that job and the forced choice will make you suffer for that job -- because according to the system, it's better to suffer suffer and make sacrifices than being unemployed because every unemployed person pays society money and they harm the society, cause inflation and price increases, cause the economic recession or whatever the politicians come up with to blame them. But thank you for your words, they comfort, warm and also soften the atmosphere in the middle of these dark times.

Thanks Michael I totally relate to everything that you said in the video. For the last 15 years, since I graduated from uni, I have been from one job to the other one industry to another. I haven’t felt satisfied with the jobs that I have right now.as a support worker, I get a sense of autonomy but at the same time, it isn’t exactly what I want. I have been offered a job as a rehab assistant within the NHS. I’m not sure if this is this is exactly the job that I want. But I feel it will ger my foot in the door to get closer doing what I enjoy.I’m torn between whether I want to become an occupational therapist or a counsellor.both aren’t exactly perfect for me. However, as I am a trained coach I would someway somehow like to use their skills and do this as a living, I guess I am on the Einstein approach based on what you said on your video. It does kind of feel lonely at times because it feels like im the only one who feels like this and the rest of the people out there are on the bandwagon of working hard and making a lot of money. However I feel like I have to be someone who has passion to do something that makes me feel really happy and make money to what I enjoy. Thank you for this video Michael. God bless you!

I only found out a few days ago that HSP exists and that I am an HSP, although I have been one since childhood. However, my HSP nature was not recognised in my family or professional life. Thanks to many depressions, I ‘had’ to embark on a spiritual path in order to connect more intensively with my higher self. My wonderful spiritual therapist is one of my companions. I am a teacher, theatre actress, voice-over-speaker, Reiki giver, have learned massages, write poetry, meditate, am very intuitive and wonderfully connected with God and the universe, I feel. I can also see a lot in people and connect with them energetically, even from a distance. However, I sometimes felt and still feel very alone in this, as the outside world sometimes views me very sceptically. I lacked depth in most of my romantic relationships. And without depth and deep connections, I can't exist. But people feel very comfortable with me and seek my closeness. Nevertheless, I usually live a secluded life.

Yes. This resonates. I'm happy that my the main income stream in my "Einstein approach" is actually allowing me to use all my skills. And my free time to get my shit together for something bigger.

Sounds like you've got a good Einstein approach, and perhaps its even a group hug of some sorts, making room for an ever bigger group hug :)

Just subscribed. Thanks cuz I keep taking the Myers Briggs tests over the past 20 years in a silly way hoping that I will not be scored an INFJ again… but to no avail… I keep getting INFJ. I am a 61 year women with no clear career path just bounced around doing whatever I could to raise my kids with no child support. I do not seem to get along with others very well at work even though I know and keep studying social fluency and social skills with/ about psychology and body language in the work places. I have a fairly high IQ…way too empathetic and was diagnosed as Aspergers when I was in my early 50’s which seems to explain a lot. For now..
I am struggling financially to keep a low paying job in the small town I moved to. I do not have computer skills yet.

Hey thank you for such an interesting video.
I work as a trader but I am finding it lonely as there isn't significant camaraderie, so at the moment I am working on making it part time so I can either pursue a different career which has camaraderie or just generally free up more time to pursue social activities however I think I'd value a career with camaraderie more, especially one which has a good culture of social connection in and outside (after) of work.
Also I think I would value a creative career over anything highly technical. I graduated as an Engineer and although it's a fascinating and important subject I haven't found much inspiration for finding that sense of camaraderie, I know that might seem odd, but it seems that sense of camaraderie is rare. I think there are a few engineering sectors which I can envisage having a decent sense of camaraderie, for example working for SpaceX or a Formula 1 team as the mission is very exciting, but even working for these companies I have a fear that because of the technical nature and high expectations of the job it can be too intense leaving little room to wind down and socialise outside of work and also these jobs are not city based which is where most of the fun socialising happens. Working in these sectors I find makes it difficult to socialise outside of work, it doesn't offer much social flexibility/variety it seems. By that I mean anything from socialising in different locations to socialising with different people in other lines of work.
So I have a list of things I'd like to see in a new career I go into:
More creative than technical (but welcome the technical side too)
Something which has an exciting mission to me
Something which is perceived as exciting by others (maybe a little immature to have this desire?)
Something which involves constant interaction with other people, preferably a diverse range of characters
Something which has a good culture for socialising after work
Work which is varied from day to day (not just working on one tiny thing for months which is what can often happen in engineering)
Not all of these have to be fulfilled, the above is just my ideal. The main things I value at this point are the social connection and a meaningful mission.

@Freddie1M - a pleasure. Thanks for writing. I think that your desire to have greater camaraderie and connection in your work / life is a really valuable insight. And that list of criteria looks excellent! Wishing you well as you explore the possibilities.

I'm just not sure what jobs/careers to go for which will have this. Also AI scares me quite a bit and I'm worried these kind of jobs will get fewer and fewer.@@Onemichael
