Dave is easily the bravest member on the team. It's not about not being scared, it's about working through it and completing the objectives/games despite being scared and poor Dave gets put through that far more often than the others.

To be fair, it's way more entertaining to watch someone who's easily scared play a scary game, then it is to watch a horror aficionado play a scary game.

I agree completely. I know Kojima can be a bit too overt and sometimes a little bit pretentious, but the man absolutely has a brilliant understanding of horror.
Dark Souls and P.T. are probably the most influential games of the last decade going by the amount of games that they have gone on to inspire. Especially impressive with P.T. given that it was an hour long teaser for a game that was canned.

Thought Ash might enjoy this: A few years ago now one of the local junior high schools would put on an event every year for Halloween where they would go out to the nearby forest preserve and decorate one of the trails, dress up in costumes along the way, stage set pieces, and then guide groups of people along it - at night. It was called Terror in the Timber, and one year we came down the trail and straight ahead on a little hill between two trees was a student dressed up as Slenderman. It. Was. Awesome. 😀

The sound design in _Control_ as you're just walking around the Oldest House is super creepy before you've memorised where the Hiss spawn. Ever single sound effect in the distance has you thinking "Is that them? Is that something else?"
I also remember going through a box in the Mold-infected ward and turning around to see some Mold zombies had silently walked right up to me.
Plus, because of Covid lockdown, my brother was on the PS4 all day and I only got to play on it during the night. When the whole house is quiet and you don't want to wake up your family, and you're slowly progressing through a den of paranatural horrors, the smallest noise makes you quiver.

I can sight the exact moment. SILENT HILL 3. The hospital. The part where it transitions to hell.
You enter a door you’ve unlocked. The last door left. You’re running in a hallway that’s not on the map, you know by now what this means. You’re going to enter hell and deal with the hell hospital. As you run, metal doors drop blocking your return. You’re now trapped in a square space and You see a symbol, THE SYMBOL. It gives you the original tape scene from silent hill 1. The wall has vanished where the symbol was. You go down it and you see a ladder. As you climb it. You realise you’re in hell. The scenery looks like it’s been set on fire and rotted. you can hear loud noises like 20 washing machines going off at once. There’s a humanoid figure turning a valve. You can hear the soundtrack faintly in the background, it’s not music, it’s noises, groaning and crunching, it’s faint but noticeable. You get to the top of the ladder, you see a door at the end of the corridor. You enter it. The crunching/groaning ambience now is blasting in your ears. I SWITCH OFF THE GAME.
ITS BEEN 18 years and I still remember. I am numb to horror and it’s because of that scene.

The most scared I've ever been in a game was in Theif: Deadly Shadows in an asylum level with twitchy dead inmate things walking around. I didn't finish the game for several years because of that. Best jump scare I've ever had in a game was in a Nancy Drew game though lol. Fell right out of my seat.

My cousin playing Fatal Frame 3 was the most scared we've been. There is the nightmare section where you take photos of ghosts in a haunted mansion and the house section where it's relatively safe and you develop the photos. We all thought the house was a safe space and nothing will hurt you, then mid game there are ghosts out there!

Can I just say though .. having researched easy platinums to help Nathan on his final stream I now get adverts for how to get easy platinums constantly which my younger sister and daughters have already noticed. Embarrassing. I better get a shout out for this. Plus I saved Rosie on round 4 of Fall guys. Cheers. X

  • @UnreasonableOpinions

The worst scare I ever had in a game was outside of a game. Dead Space 2, having a great time getting very upset, very late at night with a storm on for perfect atmosphere. Right at the peak of the incredibly-unsettling section when you find yourself back in the USG Ishimura in half-cleaned state, where the sound gets more and more intense and yet nothing happens for like FIVE MINUTES and it is getting to you very badly, in my real house there was the sound of an intense gust of wind and the enormous ceiling vest which look uncomfortably like the ones on the Ishimura bursts open and to the floor.
The good news is there was nobody else home, so there were no witnesses to the sound I made or to me fishing the controller out of a hole in the ceiling and patching it back up the next day.

My most scared moment i think was Alien Isolation, specifically at the Nest. Started with the reactor sound, then all the creepy Alien sounds, the radar shows blips filling the screen, eggs everywhere, and the bodies in the wall. That place gave me the biggest goosebumps that made me not move an inch from my hiding place like an hour or more lol. Kudos to Creative Assembly, they did an amazing job with the game 👏🏻👏🏻

Well i'm almost blind, so playing Resi 7 in VR was horrific, because what's interestingis, every character I play, Nathan Drake, Skyrim protaganist, spiderman, Ratchet and/or clank etc are all blind when controlled by me lol. so Resi 7 required me to get close to everything! terrifying and on top of that, I use sound so much more than the average human, so every sound made me freeze!
A close second is the giant frostbite spider in Skyrim VR and bleekfalls barrow. I'm not even scared of spiders, I have a zoology degree. so I just closed my eyes and flailed my weapons around until it unsatisfyingly floated to the floor. it's the noise they make when they walk more than anything, I don't like it haha

Most scared I've ever been in a horror game: Fatal Frame/Zero/Project Zero (region dependent). I've only ever managed to get to the point where you give the big bad a hug and get the rope curse (end of Act 1 basically). I did that once, but sadly that was on the memory card with my finally on Disc 4 FF8 save...a card that got stolen. I've not been able to make it through the first 5 minutes of the game since.

Rosie you are so precious! How you said you did a big swear and the first thing you were worried about was scaring your neighbours ❤️ You are just so wholesome. Also Rosie was a great addition to the team due to her natural charisma, charm and entertaining stories. Also it added a lot of new variety and game expertise to the channel. Fantastic hire and I hope she stays for a long time.
P.S Still love all the old crew and ones no longer here, also Ash is really starting to shine too so lots of love for her as well. If we had Nathan staying, Dan back and a huge list of ideas for Rob’s Friday Features then I’d say it’s perfect!
Incredible skill from the whole team to be going 10 years and still finding new ideas to talk about or refreshing old ideas in creative ways to make it interesting. Also Rob is an absolute wordsmith and poet with some of his videos.
Love you all and keep at it everyone, you make life a little easier for a lot of people and it gives me something to look forward to and cheer me up on days that I’m struggling with life so thank you all

My older cousins had two of us younger kids play a section of RE2 (PS1). We've been watching them play and seen that nothing happens at that part, except it's different when your walk by again. Right when the surprise zombie hands grab you from through the window barricade, the sliding door (IRL) opens and one of the older cousins was wearing a zombie mask and crawling in. I threw the controller down and started backing away in terror like in a horror movie. They had a big laugh, us kids embarrassed....FIN.
