  • What does it take to go on a proper motorcycle adventure? Does "proper" always mean weeks of preparation, loads of gear, huge budgets, a giant touring machine and far-away destinations? Determined to prove otherwise, Jamie Robinson hops on a modern Triumph Bonneville cafe racer with no more than a Kriega bag, a Butler map and 48 hours to get out of LA and as lost as possible in the back roads of the Giant Sequoia National Forest. This video released when I was 16 years old.
I used to watch this video over and over back then.
3 years ago I bought my first motorcycle, a 2014 Triumph Bonneville.
This weekend I set off on my first “big” adventure, rather than just riding around my local town for a couple of hours, I’m going on my first solo overnight trip into the Adirondacks in New York.
This video has always inspired me and I now I get to set off into my own adventure!

My heart hurts watching this video. I love it so much. It's honestly one of my favorite videos ever. Riding a terrific bike through one of the best national parks on the west coast, with swimming, and a great looking burger, and infreakingcredible views, and being surrounded by nature, building a campfire, camping beneath the stars... absolutely incredible. With all the negativity that's associated with America, especially recently, it's nice to see something like this that makes me feel so positive about it.

Ponderosa Lodge is under new management and the folks have done a lot of work, great people. Camping at Dome Rock spectacular. Was up there just last month. Rode up from Ventura County via power line roads to Mojave, over Jawbone Canyon and Piute Peak, Kernville, etc.. Returned through California Hot Springs (Old Stage Road) and Capinero Drive. Will be there again in October, taking in Sherman Pass and Horse Meadow.
