You got the parts for your Cuda for almost free and no headaches from the old lady oh lady that's Wonderful!!! Lol Looking forward to seeing 👀 this Project!
Just stumbled onto this build. I bought a brand new 1971 Cuda Super Commando 383 4 speed in B5 blue. It was $4495 out the door! That car was amazing. Wish I still had it but it would have gotten me killed. That thing was a monster! Looking forward to going through your playlist. Thanks
Chris birdsong to the rescue!! The guru of rust!! Huge inspiration of garage hardcore rust restoration! I watch his junkerup was hoping he’d do a ‘cuda but this will do. I was inspired to do ‘65 mustang fastback by Chris’ channel. I agree with your son mustangs rule! Chris Very inspirational as well as instructional. This gonna be great project GETTR done!
71 Charger is what my mom had when I was born. I've been a MOPAR man from the jump! HEMI, or course, in three of my last four Durangos, with the other being a 4.7 Limited with AWD since I couldn't find a 5.9 R/T in 2002.
Cutting up the charger was a worthwhile sacrifice for the Cuda. I'm sure that charger would've gotten scraped anyway so at least you're making use of what's left of it.
I learn something new every day! You have got to love the Mopar community. You made quick work of that disassembly. My wife is always saying finish one project before starting another! Loved the video!
@@rustbucketrestos6511 Long ago my best friend decided he would buy a live domestic goose and cook it for dinner. Since he wasn't the sharpest crayon in the box he decided to decapitate and gut the thing in his kitchen. It did not go as easily as he imagined. The decapitated goose flopped all over the kitchen and dining room spewing blood like a fire hose from a horror movie. Most of his walls, ceiling, cabinetry, tables and preschool children were splattered with blood. I surveyed the carnage and the time on the clock paying particular attention the fact that his wife would be home in 45 minutes. Since I had to work that evening I utilized my iron clad excuse and bid my farewell's. He was busy painting for a few days and on top of everything else: He overcooked the goose to the point of being inedible.
Hey love the channel. My 70 Challenger was crunched so hard that I just cut away the frame rails/dog house. Bought a donor Satellite too. I have mine positioned and ready to weld in. How crazy to correctly save every interlocking flange etc. Been waiting for you to do yours for tips on mine! With the splayed rails don’t see how we could screw up. I am amazed how snug of fit it is. Seems to just sit where it should. I will screw/tack then start measuring. Took a bunch of dimensions from another Chally plus have ‘71 FSM with good diagonals, etc. Then pre-assemble front components...grill and bumper too. Keep up the good work. You are fun to watch. Take care, Bergie
Dude of your son got good taste in cars got 3 65's mustang coupe, fastback and convertible none of them completely finish, plus 2 71 chevy novas, once again none them finish, like my wife says master of starting finishing of none, good going and good luck on projects from Miami, Florida,
Of course you need another car in your driveway. Look at all that empty space, room for lots more. I just found your channel, looking forward to seeing this project progress.
Who would have known b body front clip would work, hats off to Chris Birdsong. Yes sir, it`s Cuda time, I still want to see the Charger finalized, you were in the home stretch, don`t leave us hanging?
Just found your channel and love it, you build cars like I do 😊 not some big sponsored channel where someone donates 10k worth of parts just saving money where you can
Really love the videos! You have a way of making everything look easy and your explanations of what your are doing and plan to do are nice! Will definitely be following this build also. You inspire lots of other backyard mechanics!
I learned from your vid how to remove spot welds! I've been using spot weld removal bits that are a pain and half the time they don't actually remove it, I'm just gonna start drilling them out with a regular bit and pop em! Great vid, Love the Cuda!
I think inner fenders are different on 73-74 b bodies though..but kudos for chris birdsong reaching out to you .. it's great the mopar community sticks together..great informative vids bro ..keep vids coming.. 👋😎👍
Great job and another great video. I was not aware that the B body stuff was the same as the E body. Leave it to Mopar to be able to do that. Always thinking.
Great tip on the B body bet a lot of folks don't know that's why they were asking too much for the Cuda clips. Looking forward to this one always wanted a Cuda. Hope it fits up good for you.
Sorry that I had to leave earlier. Was at work. Looks like you made alot of progress. Nice donation parts. Excited to see this back together. Great content, shows hope and possibilities. Thank you, EM.
Man you're fearless. Being smart and frugal is the hallmark of a car guy IMO. BTW you can use 4 door B-bodies, which have never been expensive and can be found in fantastic shape, even running, for a couple of hundred bucks. Even B-body wagons. Already enjoying this build immensely. You and a few other Cuda builders on youtube are showing the way to build E-bodies on a budget. Like you say, when you're done it'll be worth ten times more than a GM F-body. I'm old enough to have bought an E-body many times over the past 50 years and didn't, simply because they have always been coveted and more expensive than owning and wrenching on any other Mopars.....so I didn't. I was surprised to find out the new Challenger is outselling the new Camaro and Mustangs combined. Keep up the great work Malcolm Ottawa Valley
I did the same thing for my '74 BS23G4B but i drilled out every factory weld as i went, saving all the items i could so they could live on and donate to other worthy cars. There is a '71 Hemi Cuda using the front and rear rails from one of my parts cars. I've parted several Mopars over the years for resto projects and when you cut the roof, floor and firewall.... i had to stop watching. Not condeming your choices, but not condoning them either. I would have paid handsomely for those parts which means others would have as well. OEM metal doesn't exist so every item is precious
I like to see more auto parts recycling. Since there are fewer reusable parts cars available the parts companies hold car enthusiasts by the wallet. The parts companies provide valuable products but they are painfully expensive!! By the way, I like Barracudas too.
Really good video, have any of your neighbors made comments about you car collection???? Got any friends or businesses that will let you store parts cars???? Your a man who has one loving wife.I had second shop away from the house on 5 acres and still got bitched at. definitely your a man to reckon with.keep it up and do what you gotta do.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Well I’d definitely be looking forward to the cuda build. And the charger at least won’t go to waste. It’s a cool car but it’s not worth putting it back together. The cuda is more worth the effort
I done essentially the same thing about 40 years ago. I bought one Cuda which was badly wrecked in the front end "dukes of Hazzard style jump". Then I bought a second car that had been ass ended. I proceeded to make one good car out of two junkers.
I'd save those 14 inch Polyglas GT tires. 60 series 14 inch tires never came on a Mopar, but they are CLOSE. And they are good looking. I realize they are almost 50 years old, so they may be too far gone from dry rot. But belted tires hold up a lot longer than radials.
Nice job good thing you got that I'm in favour of seeing the charger done but the Cuda will be well worth the effort once it's done I wish I would have got a Cuda or a Challenger back in the day when I could have got one I was always into the charger had plenty of them could I have a 73 now that has a rusted frame rail on the driver side front the rest of the car is okay I would like to get that fixed because it scares me I hit a bump it might damage the whole car I remember the first video you got that car right here in Ohio before you move I'm thinking that it was a lot of work but you pulled it off you did good work
With the “bones” of the Charger so good, it’s a shame you couldn’t find a rusty but complete car to restore the charger. It is crazy how much people want for rusted out cudas.
I decoded his Cuda in the first episode it's worth using this one for a donor. It's a largely optioned car with some rare options for 71'. If this car was to be sacrificed it was for a good cause.
Excited to see the start of the Cuda build, however I was expecting to see the continuing of the charger build. Will you be continuing the charger build? Also, I know you sold the Camaro but do you still have the GTO you started at your old house? Will you still be doing the GTO build?
The 73+ B body changed to an isolated K frame (and axle) so the rails are different as well as the inner fenders. Just about everything is different about them. The 71/2 B body firewall is the same as E but the cowl is different and the small brackets that wrap over the top from the inner fender are different. You will have to grab those from AMD.
It was hard for me to watch you cut up the donor. Man! However, I do understand the need and somebody else was able to take the back half and use. Just hate to see classics go by the wayside.
Wish I could find a doner for my 55 in that good a shape for cheap. People want more money than there are usable parts it's cheaper to just buy brand new.
Do you know why the 71 and 72 are good for donors not 73 and 74 Chargers? Did you think about saving the front floors for your Barracuda? You said the floors were the same. I have a 70 in need of the same can I ask what the donor cost? Thanks for the info
$300 for the entire car. Not sure what the differences are in the later years. Just know the part numbers are the same between the 71-72 b/e bodies. Very lucky score!
73 and 74 have an extra frame under the engine and It Bolts to the frame so there are bolt holes on all four corners of that other than that I think they are the same I have a 73 and I need the left front frame rail on the driver side and would like to be able to get that repaired or replaced don't have one might need to repair mine any thoughts or advice onward to just buy that one piece rusted alright under the firewall otherwise rest of the cars worth keeping it is a bear buns charger but it still works
Thanks for letting me know about the 71-2 Charger interchangeability! I did not know that… I have a 72’ 340 Cuda that is folding in half that I want to save. Anyone have a parts car charger?🤔😂😉

Oddly satisfying watching a car get cut in half but for a good cause. Mopars always had good body lines in my opinion for the muscle cars and paint.
Arguably the best!
So relieved the sub frames were good after all that demo.
Near perfect!
U can get caps that fit over the the frame from auto body specities for a little bit. I bought one.rhey work
