I remember my father used to play this game when i'm still very young. He played at night when me and my siblings were going to sleep. In the morning we run an arcade store. We got a lot of ps1 and two billiard tables. Those were the good old days. Sadly nothing last forever. Business closed. My parents sold everything. I don't know what happen but life just gets hard after that. Everything just went downhill. Now, many years later, we are on a better place but sadly we are separated from my father. I just want to show him now how awesome the gaming world has become. Hope that someday i can share to him my favorite games. Sekiro would be the first on the list. It would surely remind him of tenchu and might bring back a piece of his child self who loves to play games that was lost in the harsh reality of life
This was the best ninja game I've ever played. The music...the darkening of the foreground as you walked. Trying to stay hidden from all enemies. It was awesome!!!
@@someonejust5062 ehh, It was very good but there were titles already doing stealth quite well in this time period. One that sticks out to me is Metal Gear. Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee was 2D and had challenging stealth mechanics too.
@Sixteen: If you didn't play this back when it was new, you might find it hard to play now, cos, controls wise, it hasn't aged well IMO, but let me tell you, this is THE daddy of 3D stealth games, and its probably the only ninja game released in the West where you actually HAVE to use stealth. This shit became part of my childhood, it made me wanna be a ninja IRL haha.

Not the same company. Tenchu is now in the hands of From Software, who haven't seen any return on their ventures into the Tenchu franchise for what I know. Tenchu Z _I think_ sold poorly, at least that's what I've heard. And I only heard people talk negatively about Tenchu: Shadow Assassins for the Wii & PSP, which was the last game to be released in 2009, at the same time the Demon's Souls boom happened. You can guess what series they choose to continue.
Assassins Creed is what Tenchu would've been if it didn't kill itself with terrible sequels after the PS2 era. This is the original assassination shit, I want more but I know its something I can't have. Easily one of my fave series ever as a kid.
2019 and this game continues to delight me, it is original and the soundtrack that accompanies it gives an atmosphere that makes missions more exciting, it was a masterpiece for the PSP and deserves to be remembered, they should even make it for computer in an official an remastered version in to the Steam plataform or another one. I remember that you could even create your own map in a very broad way, and even plan the route of the NPCs, the objective of the mission, the chief enemy of the same, the time in which it must be completed and the opportunities that They have to complete it. Make all of that things can be possible in a videogame at that time, but just for the PSP: it was a great novelty. Long life for this game!
Just a beautiful game with like you say, a great atmospheric soundtrack! The level maker on Tenchu 2 (IIRC) and the PSP Tenchu was such a cool idea too. Tenchu 3 was another all time favourite but I remember thinking it was a shame theres no level maker.

Tenchu was that game you concentrated extra hard on. the whole world in the game was interesting. nothing too flashy just str8 samurai realness... miss this game so much
You go from a Super Nintendo no disrespect at all nothing love but you go from a Super Nintendo playing Super Mario Brother and Donkey Kong to this was pretty amazing back in the day games that we're getting designed were you could actually start walking around in the environment it wasn't just one screen which I love those games too don't get me wrong
The PlayStation 1 and the Nintendo 64 will always be my all-time favorites no matter how good continue graphics get there's so many awesome nostalgic games they need to remake and remake the right way Keep the nostalgic objective and plot with the modern graphics
Was the analogue controller released at the time? If so, I guess it was so new that not many games in 98 used it yet. It sounds weird but I think some of these games felt good with a DPad, especially "tank controls" games like this and Residential Evil (yes I left the auto-correct mistake on purpose lol!).

I like stealth games a lot, I've played the first three Splinter Cells and MGS4 as well as Thief and Dishonered, liked them all, should I get this?
