Wow. So glad to hear from Mitchel Obi. An erudite sports analyst and one who made us enjoy football punditry back in the days.

It's great to see you again, Mitchel Obi of AIT of yester years. Your AM sports show (initially co-hosted with Ejiro Omonode before we stopped seeing him) used to be part of my breakfast back in the days.

It's is nice to see sir Mitchell Obi ...loved watching you on AIT back then .
However I think we need to talk more about his credentials and not about where he is from... That is racism and this is what we won't want anyone doing to us as Nigerians.

The politicians have planted the bad blood of tribalism and xenophobia in many Nigerians..if England who invented football can hire foreign coaches for their national team. Steve keshi coached Togo national team, then Amunike coached Tanzania. National team and their citizens didn't complain, what is wrong in hiring a French/Malian coach if he is capable ?

Dr. Abati, caps doesn't mean trophies. Chelle had 5 caps for Mali means he played 5 times for his country (Mali) during his playing days.

Dear Mitchel Obi, with due respect respect, you'll eat your words, and I'll remind you later. I think you're 'a man who time has forgotten.' Without bias, take a good look at Nigerian coaches (with apologies to Emmanuel Amunike) and their corrupt practices etc. Eric Chelle is not rubbish as you insinuated, a pile of rubbish. You are an arm chair analyst only. Talk is cheap. I wish Eric Chelle success. We'll discuss later.

Thanks for this. I'm a fan of Mitchel Obi, but he goofed in many ways in this interview. Too many flaws. He says Chelle has an "Ivorian Father" - this comment alone shows he doesn't know much about the man he's passing a verdict on.

Eric Chelle was born to a French Father and a Malian mother, Oga Mitchelle Obi- Mr Xenophobia. We have had Nigerian coaches that coached other African countries in the past, and their appointments were applauded by you and other Nigerian journalists.

Mitchell Obi, for the records is an analyst i respect a lot. However, he goofed too many times in this interview-He says Chelle has an "Ivorian Father" - this comment alone shows he doesn't know much about the man he's passing a verdict on.
He also said he "pities the players for having to go through too many managers". These are the same set of players who experience more sacked managers at club level! This is very unfortunate as Obi's feedback exudes xenophobic tendencies.

Everything u said man + the respect part. Growing up I watched his shows on Ait.
Massive goofs! He was only born in Ivory Coast. Even Dr. Abati said he won 5 caps when they talked about Chelle's expertise/CV. In his head caps na trophies.

Malian-French coach ? Nigerians like/prefer anything foreign and/or not African. So adding French to his Malianness will make him acceptable I think.
WISH THIS GUY THE BEST. NIGERIANS WON'T ACCEPT FAILURE THOUGH.

Is NFA Chairman, Dikko part of a click of military apologists sucking up to the military junta in Mali? He needs to be invited to answer this buzz😀The appointment of Chelle over the more competent Emmanuel Amunike makes no sense. Dikko should be investigated by the National Assembly and fired for this ridiculous appointment that defies logic

If you are accepting the fact that the European coaches are better than the Nigerian counterpart, to me is a greater insults. Why do we always feel less of ourselves compare to the rest of the world? That's insulting.
We are all Africans, and I believe in Africa.
Why do we think less of ourselves as Africans and complain the white's are undermining our abilities and potentials.
Let's appreciate what we can Do...
