Dude as always, you killed it in this video, I could tell you were in awe of this Jeep. And I love it how you automatically know the little random facts, like the T-case and how it's a internal skip yoke.
I owned an 87 wagoneer. Transfer case exploded and I got rid of it. One of the biggest car mistakes of my life. I currently own a 96 xj 4.0 with factory ax15. Still all factory. These xjs are just going to go up in value.
Regardless of the asshat owner, its a shame seeing the door card in that condition and the other rare parts cobbled back together with tape or self tappers.
Like your videos, concise good info without a bunch of Bovine Soil enhancer. BEWARE of sellers. I got taken bad on my first '01 XJ, was too anxious to get another vehicle and should have known better. Didn't even get home before it had a flashing CEL. Wound up putting a new cylinder head on it and sold it years later with 341K miles on it.
I have an 88 wagoneer limited as a daily. With 270k. Its been my most reliable vehicle ive ever owned other then just odd age related issues but every Cherokee part is available at o Riley but the wagoneer parts are literally rare as the supporting nature of the biddens. The sad part is the wagoneer limited parts there are worth about $3k not running. Badging and trim is painfull to fine. The panels are full of holes under the trim when they are damaged or removed. And vent windows leak like Washington secrets, so you wont find many of the front door panels in good shape. Usually have to grab parts from briorwoods
Not gonna pull the wool over on my man Ray, but you WERE really lusting over that thing. Your love for the jeeps makes for very entertaining shows... And I don't know a darn thing about cars! Hope you are doing well "WAEMID" !
Bought a Comanche that was combined with a Cherokee with power windows. $9,000 nearly wasted. At least it came with some good parts. Long arms, XJ Dana 44, weld racing wheels on 35s, etc.
@hardcore2017 Heya nice! good to hear he didn't sell it for $4000 personally I wouldn't have paid over $1500 for it. But I'm glad someone has it now. Promise to take care of it for me now
Clearly if the unibody is good then this Jeep deserves to be saved, and as you say yourself, it's a top spec model too. Did you make an offer to the seller for what you think it's worth? What do you think it's worth, £2000? Unfortunately a lot of the XJs here in the UK have succumbed to the dreaded tin-worm! Thanks for the informative video.
I just bought one for 5k and feel a little regret, but it isn't beat up like the one you showed. On my way home it started accelerating on its own, like if it was posses. I don't see a cruise control on it so it's not that. The accelerator pedal moves smooth, so it's not getting stuck. When I press on the brake, it stops accelerating, but as soon as I let it go, it accelerates again. I'm puzzled, it only does it above 30mph. Can you help me figured this out?
Idk if you care but there’s a 1984 2.8 2 door Cherokee chief on market place in Tampa Florida if you want to look at it. I could shoot you a link. A bit crusty but cool.
I found it, that's very tempting and if I had some sort of warehouse to store these things I'd go for it I kinda want to get a 2.8L XJ just to poke around with it and see how it's different
You need Dexron-III, or its synthetic version, Dexron-VI. I have a video about the transmissions and their fluid requirements here: ruclips.net/video/ar6dDB5x5lA/видео.html
Great Video! It will cost several thousand grand to make it run properly. The easiest part would be paying $1000 for it. Perhaps a complete powertrain and electrical swap from a '91 to '95 Cherokee donor will do the trick. this is not definitely a cheap idea, but the structure and interior seems to be in a reasonable state.
@@WAEMIDIV I appreciate it. I got a 96 xj myself and been obsessed since I got it over a year or so ago. Seeing that one looked like a crown jewel to me. It’s so unfortunate it’s in junkyard condition mechanically speaking.
Had an 89 was my first street legal vehicle in high school, and lets just say i was not kind to that thing😂😂😂 but i guarantee you put some fresh oil in it and a battery on it and itll start, needs alot of tlc to be back in the road again though for starters new front end, rear main seal, and a whole new break system
I just realized I forgot to mention the actual title of the ad, in which he actually calls it a "Grand Cherokee Wagoneer" I don't think he did this with bad intent, probably just to hit as many search tags as possible, but regardless, it's not a Grand Wagoneer SJ either. Bah, subtle detail
Right, he kept going on and on about how parts are so cheap for these! He said "I got a new ignition switch waiting at Advanced right now, only $28!" and I'm like... ...so why didn't you install it...? Sketchy man. Probably trying to avoid "discovering" more problems
Man I'm sorry but 4,000 for a renix Era jeep that has not run. The seller is a pos trying to ride the wave of inflation. It's not a shot at you but the seller is a pos. This is a 400 dollar jeep. I got a 96 grand cherokee that has sat for 2 years with a bad pcm for 1000. I heard it run 2 years prior. But I still payed too much. I hope this works out well for you.
"These jeeps just were, and it was understood" is probably the coldest line RCR has ever written about any car.
It gives me chills!

Sad to see something so neglected

Sounds like your as much of a jeep lover as I am lol !! Love the Cherokee!!!!!
We bought this Cherokee and it started right up. First thing we did was a burnout on the trailer 😂. Paid 2800 for it.
I knew it was the same one cause the light on the front

No I agree 😂 my coworker bought it but I’m helping get her back in running order. Under the dash is super rusted like it was pulled out of a lake lol.
@@hardcore2017 oughta make some videos

@@SlingSuds either a vacuum leak or the throttle plate could be stuck. Some WD-40 would fix that, otherwise vacuum leaks are kinda hard to trace down

Dex 3. But all catalogs and shop keys will say atf4

Would of made a good project Jeep and content. Just priced too high, hopefully someone doesn’t get screwed over.
This thing would be perfect if
>I didn't already have a similar condition Comanche
>it was $400 lol
Holy fuck I have this exact one saved in marketplace. It’s in Winter Park FL lmao
Hah! I figured at least someone somewhere out there would know it. Well, here's your fair warning to stay away lol

Btw I failed to mention I drove it for 10 years before buying a new vehicle
Did this individual receive another negative seller review?
I can neither confirm nor deny this theory

Ah. Makes sense. I had a 91 Laredo my dad bought new. It had the overhead console. Can’t beat the XJ!!
It woulda cost dude maybe $500 to do a fuel pump job and a decent battery and he mightve had a sale
Jumping over dollars to save a dime

Definitely a thousand dollar jeep 4k is way too much even if it was running and driving for a pre 97
If it doesn't run then why would you bother changing the oil unless you're trying to cover up something 😂 some people are real A holes...lmfao.
FB marketplace is the worst. Bunch of time wasters. $800 seems about right.
