  • Aaron shares his experience with the best lightweight foam sleeping pad on the market. What do you choose to sleep on when you’re trekking, backpacking, camping, hiking, or anything else? The Therm-a-Rest Z Lite Sol is one of Aaron’s favorite mats to use. It can’t develop a hole and deflate. It’s great as a seat, too.

      Glad to help. Use your pad in the morning when you go see the sunrise - it's way more comfortable than sitting on cold rocks in the breeze.

      @@ALinsdau Definitively I will. I already tested the pad and its very comfortable.
      my biggest problem now is devising a way to carry the pad in my backpack, you have any tip?

    I have a few of these. I cut them into sections. You can double it up or make it wider if you run it the other way. Good stuff.

    Sir great content …. Can you recommend a sleeping bad - water proof cover … to protect a down sleeping bag from condensation….. thanks in advanced … Trever

      You don't want to put your sleeping bag into a non-breathable bag. It'd become incredibly wet.

    I bought a full length one of these, cut the bottom three panels off and use that section to double up under my shoulder. Also use the three panels for a sit pad.

    Could this be used in a hammock as well? Does it bend?

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  4 года назад

      Yes, the pad bends quite easily, though it'll bunch up in a hammock.

    The grey side up does feel warmer. I even put it inside the sleeping bag to feel really cozy. Unfortunately I still need an air mattress underneath otherwise by the middle of the night my hips are sore.

    • @ALinsdau

      Interesting - I didn't experience any difference at -10ºF / -12ºC.

      @@ALinsdau I felt a difference with the mat inside the sleeping bag. I tried both sides. The fact that it is right against your body might have do do with it. But underneath and outside the sleeping bag I felt no difference, maybe because any heat reflected is lost right away.

    Won't it get wet carried on the outside of your pack?

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  2 года назад

      Yes, shake off the water and use a small towel to dry it off.

    You sleep on the silver side, not the yellow side. Just so you know 👍🏻

    • @ALinsdau

      I actually tried it this winter in -20ºF and it didn't seem to make a difference.

      ALinsdau when you use it on snow do you put an air pad underneath? Or an air pad on top of the z rest?

    • @marcogiovanni8962
      @marcogiovanni8962 4 года назад

      ALinsdau silver side is suppose to reflect your body heat back to your body, not
      Sure if it actually does 😂

      Silver side up or silver side down? I have one, but use it so infrequently that the variability of conditions makes it impossible for me to tell if I can feel a difference one way or the other. Sometimes I get a lot of condensation underneath.

    You may be sleeping for the last 15-20 years on your Z Lite mattress on the wrong side -silver side up .

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  3 года назад +3

      I've tried both ways and found no difference, even directly on the ground at -20 deg.
