- Carolan composed this piece at Newport, County Mayo, when Colonel's daughter Anne married Henry Mac Dermott Roe.
Colonel O'Donnell died in 1736 in London Tower and his elegy was written by a friend of Carolan's : Charles Mac Cabe. "Ireland was not a widow till to-night".
Harmonized and arranged for guitar in the original key (Am) by Pascal Bournet for Editions Transatlantiques, Paris (www.pascalbourn...) and played on a Masaki Sakurai guitar concert model.
Beautiful, thanks for sharing!
Your O'Carolan arrangements are exquisite. Hopefully we'll see more in the future, Pete

I'm always happy to listen to you playing. Another great piece that I must learn too. O'Carolan is so fresh and positive that's what we need to start the new year.
Where's your brother? I started to get used to the two of you, it was nice to feel the harmony between you.
Amities

Exhilarating! The MacDermott Roe clan were a lively bunch.
I have arranged this too in A minor Dorian mode (with all Fs sharpened) using just 4 chords: A minor, E minor, C major & G major. Being a sloth, I still need to work up the tempo.
