thanks for waiting a long time for our next plenespotting video! We came back to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. I hope you enjoy our new video. Some information about a few interesting airplanes we caught during our planespotting session:
EC-NFQ Plus Ultra A34-600
A nice guest on our trip to Amsterdam was the Plus Ultra A34-600, which came for a charter for TUI Airlines Netherlands. The A340-600 began its life in September 2009, where Serial Number 1040 was delivered to Etihad. After 8 years of service, the A340-600 got stored in Teruel. On July 13th, 2018 the aircraft was handed over to European Aviation, where the A340 was partly stored and partly flying freight. On January 2020 the aircraft was handed over to Plus Ultra Airlines. Due to Corona, the aircraft had to be stored at Madrid Barajas and Frankfurt-Hahn Airport. Luckily the A340-600 was capable to fly a lot of cargo, so Plus Ultra partly flew cargo flights across the world together with EC-NFQ. Today EC-NFQ, 1040 is actively flying for Plus Ultra.
XA-ADL Aeromexico 787-9 Quetzalcoatl:
This is the special livery of Aeromexicos first 787-9 and it is named Quetzalcoatl (meaning “Feathered Serpent”), a godess of pre-Hispanic Mexico. Aeromexico’s Quetzalcoatl plane left the Boeing Aircraft Paint Hangar after a nine- day process, six days longer than expected, as the engineers found that they needed extra time to add all of the original hues and colours featured in the winning design.

I’m sorry for being away for a while and being late in commenting on this video. I’ve been away from my computer and in a hospital for a while, and I have not had access to a computer in order to watch your posts. Hopefully, I am back now for a while,
There are a few of the aircraft that caught my attention the most, but I wish I had a few hours to comment on all of them. But first of all, your group did an outstanding job of positioning yourselves in order to capture the different views of the same aircraft. I know how precise your communication between each team member has to be.
You mentioned that the Saudia 787 had landing gear problems at ts takeoff and climb out. There are several reasons for this, but for the most part, the brakes are too hot and to retract them is a fire hazard. Therefore, the pilot does not immediately retract the landing gear so that they are allowed to cool down enough for their retraction. Among the reasons that the brakes are able to become that hot are also plentiful. However, the engines on those aircraft are so powerful, that even in idle, the thrust is enough to move the aircraft. Consequently, pilots often have to ride the brakes hard during the aircraft’s taxiing. This is especially true in Amsterdam when aircraft are assigned the Polderbaan runway, which is several kilometers from the terminal.
Of all the special liveries, I think Air Baltic had the most tasteful and well designed. The other airlines, such as Emirates and Aeromexico look like a child designed them. They are simply gaudy.
My favorite scenes are of the Tui 767 and Icelandair 757. I am so happy that they are still flying passengers on 767’s and 757’s, because those are my favorite passenger aircraft. However, I must give a big “shout out” to Plus Ultra and Airhub Airlines for flying the A340’s. In my opinion, the A340 has the most elegant silhouette of all commercial aircraft still in service.
Again, I truly appreciate your efforts that have resulted in a great video. I always am looking forward to viewing your posts. Please keep up the great work.

The Saudia 787 continued her way to Jeddah and therefore it seems that the gear was retracted afterwards. She really seem to had very hot breakes!
Amsterdam is full of special liveries, it is hard and (nearly) impossible to not catch them :D
It definetly is very interesting to still see the Icelandair 757, TUI 767 and the A340s go that strong after many years of flying and the retirement of these airframes!

Good to see that the GoJet plane is still getting around in the ex-Tiger Australia colours. The airline didn't have the best reputation here in Australia but I always had a soft spot for it. It was definitely one of the first airlines to cease operating during COVID, with it's parent company Virgin Australia entering administration not even a month later.

It seems that the Saudia 787 retracted her gears some minutes after disappearing in the clouds. If the gear doesn't retract after all procedures for a case like this, the airplane will most likely return and get the gears fixed :)
Most probably following a MEL procedure requiring gear down until few minutes after departure
