I recently picked up a 4 movie DVD feature with Annie, Matilda, Pippi Longstocking, and Madeline. Never saw Madeline until now and I really enjoyed it. Hatty was wonderful and just adorable in the lead role. I hope she is doing well and I wish her the best.

It's sad that she hasn't acted in any more roles... she must've financial troubles ot something as a kid. Disappointing how the very best child actors don't have the best of their careers.
She auditioned for the role of Hermione Granger but the producers deemed her "too old"...even though she's the same age as Rupert Grint and a year younger than Tom Felton. She must've either looked old for her age or looked more around her age (Rupert and Tom did look like they were, like, 10, which is hard to believe considering they were tweens/early teens in real life) because otherwise that sounds like a bunch of bull
I read an interview where she said that she wanted so badly to be in Madeline and even the audition process for Madeline was so fun, but she said no other audition/role felt fun to her the way that Madeline had. And because she had to miss out on birthday parties and sleepovers, she'd rather stick with what was fun.which is good, because while Madeline was a fabulous experience, being able to do normal kid stuff is vitally important.
hatty was actually very close to being hermionie granger, hear me out, emma watson is an AMAZING hermionie, infact she IS hermione but i just find it very sad this was hatties only role, she had so much potential

Not to mention that Watson and Jones were the last two girls to make it to the final stage. Emma did not think that she herself will get the role since she believed that an actress with film acting experience will get it instead.
A little fun facts not only Madeline got released on July 10th 1998 but Small Soliders got released on July 10th 1998 as well and one week after Madeline got released The Mask Of Zorro got released on July 17th 1998 by TriStar Pictures as well.
Only just sad that this was only film💔 and no Sequel too it’s live action story😑 when it ended off that’s just it, just bummed threw it off the table before Hatty grows only just too late..💔 but return in role 2012 then has her media account which never expected would see Hatty again🥹 only grew up👍💕

I've always loved reading the Madeline books as a kid and when I first saw the movie, I became a huge fan.

Based on this interview, this girl does very much give off Hermione vibes and I can see why she was screen tested for the role.
