Camp cooking is an undervalued skill. (much like basketry and sewing) I want camping to be a restorative and relaxing experience for people learning wilderness skills. One of those skills is learning to feed oneself after acquisition (ie: after successful hunting and foraging) as well as using store-bought ingredients. Blackie, thank you for undertaking such a broad and detailed subject.
Hi Blackie! After my wife passed away, several years ago, I had to learn to cook. That necessity grew into a genuine interest in advanced cookery. which I have been practicing for quite some time, but it has been mostly limited to the home kitchen. The idea of expanding my skill set, to the outdoors, is compelling.
I'm only a minute in, and I can already say, I'm SUPER EXCITED for this series!! I LOVE outdoor cooking and have a serious addiction to collecting camp cookware. Awesome! Thanks Blackie!!
i am soooo looking forward to this series!!!!! i cant wait...... thank you sir for all you do...i promise you I will NOT be counted in the lot that dislikes or is bored!!!! cooking is a major part of camping for me and i live to EAT!!!!! LOL plus helps me justify all the $$$$$$$ ive spent on gear to cook
I have been going through all the older cooking videos and look forward to the new ones. You're outlook on gear and cooking is very welcome. Thank you so much for all you do 👌🤠👍
Blackie I liked it when you did the biscuit and your aluminum boy scout cook set I did mine again in my boy scout stainless steel cook set and it come out definitely better than what it did the first time it come out perfect it was a little thin the biscuit was but it come out good
BRING IT ON BLACKIE!!! I am one who loves to cook from scratch in the field. That probably comes from having been the mess Sgt. for our Civil War Artillery reenacting unit based in Ohio. I have learned that if you do not want to do the prep work out in the field due to time, then you can absolutely to the prep work at home before hand. That way you still get the fresh made from scratch meal out in the field. Looking forward to this series!!!!
To me , all of your topics and show and tell are always outstanding. When I go kayaking, I try to always stop off , at a flatplace, build me a small fire with gathered wood , and do hamburgers hot dogs etc., and all present always get involved for the experience. I AM POSITIVE THIS SERIES WILL BE OF INTEREST TO MORE PEOPLE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE. Thank you Sir.
Wow, gonna send to my grandson!! He wants to learn to cook and you explain things very simply. I might learn a thing or two!! Thank you for taking your time and trouble to give us your expertise. Have a great night. Take Care 👍
Excellent !! Can't wait 👍 Food always tastes better outdoors... I haven't seen any other bushcraft channel do a deep dive into this subject....and I think it's much needed. Looking forward to Sunday.. all the best !
Blackie , Outstanding Video I have been in hunting camp were one of the guys served black eye peas and sweet relish for all three meals a day. I do like camp cooking anything from fast to all day stews. As always You Are The Master Woodsman and Bushcrafter, always wanting to learn more about woodcraft meals.
lol i did a week long event once where the cook served blackeyed peas and rice with every meal so breakfast was eggs and blackeyed peas and rice ../ lunch was ham sandwich and blackeyed peas and rice, supper was speggetti and blackeyed peas and rice..i never refused his cooking...but i didn't eat blackeyed peas for nearly 2 yrs after that
Make two one detailed one edited to short hand, I would probably watch both anyway, I love your videos and we are blessed with your wisdom and knowledge, its always welcomed content
Lets see, you cover bushcraft, historical recreation, camp/backpack maintenance, canoe camping. Yeah, you could probably diversify a little more =D. Of course I'll tune in, I eat when I'm out in the field. And my cooking ranges from quick trail warm-me-ups to 3 or 4 course meals in camp. So, I'm listening And by the way, most cooks running a chuckwagon during cattle drives were the older, more experienced cowboys. They knew the trail well enough to judge how far they would get. Leave early enough get the chuckwagon setup and cooking in time for the others to arrive, so they all could eat and bed down. And Have the coffee ready in the morning, and do it all over again
Looking forward to all this. Things on my mind have always been food collection and food preservation. Big things that need to be addressed. And not much dealt with. sort of. Another thing is food preperation. I don't mean just boiling up a pot of water. There has to be be some thought put into it. You seem to be the sorta guy that does just that. So I will watch, wait and see.
I am looking forward to this series, the canteen cup cobbler is a hit every where I make it. Let's not have this knowledge dissolve in to the dust bin of history .
I tell you what , I watch every video you put out till the end. And I'll be saving all these cooking vids so I'll have everything saved permitnitaly. Sorry about the spelling , lol
Hey Blackie, I'm really looking forward to this series. If you do an immersion video where you use plastic baggies could you discuss if the plastic has any effect on the taste of whatever you boil in the water?
i use the name brand freezer bags and they dont add any taste that i am aware of plus freezer bags are made with the idea your going to put hot leftovers in then throw it into the freezer so the plastic is made to take that..still be careful and doint put boiling water in a bag..the bags being used for immersion heating have always done well for me
My field cooking is going to be for recreational camping, and survival conditions, for two. Most of our food will be prepackaged ready to eat/made w water. Using an Esbit or GI canteen cup stove. I'm going to watch all of these anyway, because you just never know.... I will be keenly interested in foraging and small game. Good to go with my fish
Don't see you on here. After watching your pocket knife series. I was really impressed and greatfull . I hade now idea about these things. The other night my cousin showed me a case xx, that my grandfather had, still in the presentation box. He gave it to my uncle. He left it to my cousin. That night she gave it to me. A single clip point, never used. It's in my pocket. Dont see how to take a pic.
Watches the video but spends the first 2 minutes nodding in agreement with your choice of shirt, british army DPM tropical shirt, excellent choice sir 😀
@@baronedipiemonte3990 there was a batch made a while back by dragon (I think) they made a load in the early bright dpm. At a pinch you could use a soldier 95 shirt, lots of large sizes still readily available
Blackie you picked the wrong time of the year to do a cooking series. I grew up in the Deep South of Louisiana and camp cooking in the dead of the summer is miserable.
Not cooking related. Seeing you wipe your face. Have Are you familiar with flour sack towels. A nice cotton material 29"×28". Can be easily dyed any color. I find them at Wal-mart in the craft and kitchen areas as well as Target. Better than shemags in my opinion.
I'm looking forward to this series. Thank you, sir.
Sounds like a series I will be watching. Never can have to many recipes!
Looking forward to the series. I dabble in the kitchen and over a fire a little . Always can learn more .
Looking forward to this series. It's gonna be fun and entertaining for sure.
