Also, she could've been traumatized by his actions and emotionally paralyzed in the next room, due to him putting her through that horror film over and over again throughout the years. That's traumatizing to the wife so he cannot and shouldn't call her out like this and say she didn't help him. When a person is an addict, it effects everyone they're in contact with... especially the closest one who's just feet away from the room which could've wound up the addict's final resting place.
