Thank you for a wonderfully narrated and illustrated video. Today it would make a superb heritage railway in a unique beauty spot. Nearly 90 years on, at least the Manifold Valley Trail remains as a fine legacy.
Such a shame the line closed, if the copper mine had re-opened after the creamery closed then perhaps the LMS would have shown more interest. Or perhaps if the line had instead extended to Hartington and the LNWR station to then build a mineral extension to the Cromford & High Peak, alongside the Friden Brickworks then maybe they'd find enough lucrative traffic to keep even just goods services until the mid-to late fifties, then allowing preservationists to move in soon after
A beautiful valley. I'm from the area but at places you could be in Switzerland or Austria. Climb up to Thor's Cave and you will see what I mean. You can walk or cycle it these days. Just do it. You won't be disappointed.

thank you so much for posting this superb film, aptly timed for my having just having had an enjoyable day cycling this former railway.
What a wonderful video. Many thanks for posting. The quoted costs give a sharp demonstration of inflation since those times.

Wish I’d been on this when I lived not far from there.

@12:39 Interesting that the L&MVR was meant to reach to Buxton. Would’ve made it more than twice as long!
