- This video highlights our Dirt King long travel race kit and Ultra 4-Link kit installed on a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500. Initially equipped with our bolt-on long travel kit, the suspension underwent an upgrade to our long travel race kit for increased wheel travel. The customer went with our spec Fox 2.5" coilovers, spec Fox 3.0" bypasses, and Fox bump stops. For wheels the customer went with 37” Toyo Open Country M/T tires paired with Method MR101 bead lock wheels.

are these trucks any good at going in a little mud?
For a setup like this, do you guys think a cage is recommended? Obviously it is but it isn’t as much of a concern for leaf spring set ipy
Yes a cage is recommended for any truck that is used for high speed off road driving regardless of the suspension that it's equipped with.
What was the original DK kit up front? Looked like bolt on LT kit with a shock hoop/ shock upright instead of a coil bucket hat. I have a 2014 Silverado with a Mazzulla kit. I really want to swap my 2.5 coilovers and run 3.0 IBP. The way SDHQ built this truck running bypasses aren’t an option. Bumps are in the way. Looking for solution without a whole new kit.

What kind of college experience do you need to build the trucks in the videos? And love the videos
welding and fabrication. Associates degree or certification. Or just really good experience. I have a welding degree but that got me into robotics lol
To build a truck like this you need several years of experience working on vehicles and fabrication. To engineer products that are on this vehicle you would need to be very familiar with CAD and suspension geometry. Everyone starts somewhere, align yourself with people that have similar interested and start working on some projects.
That's some fancy spray paint jobs on the tubing and welded frame area lol.... Hey what causes the front wheels to shimmy sideways when hitting bumps while going straight and how can that be fixed? Is that normal for the race kit?
If you look closer it’s just the tire’s sidewall flexing, the wheels aren’t moving
@@robp418 I just watched it like 6 times in a row... it was mostly the tires. Little bit the wheels. That's crazy to think that the tires flex that much.
We use standard spay paint on these builds because they're intended to get used and abused, this allows the customers to touch up the paint after rock chips and abrasion. The deflection is in the tires and not the wheels. When off-roading a lot of components will have deflection and it's commonly not noticed until a video is put in slow motion.

Any close estimates on how much it costs to maintain the race kit??
As with any performance suspension maintenance intervals are going to be dependent on use. We usually recommend a front end rebuild (bushings, bearings and lube) every other season. Typical parts cost to rebuild a front end is roughly $400-$600 depending on suspension type.

Man I hate dirt king videos. From the way they shoot the vid to the they packaging to the clips of it tearing through the desert. IT MAKES ME WANNA EMPTY MY BANK ACCOUNT AND BUY ALL THEIR STUFF!!!!
