*hairstylist here* It was originally called a "money piece" when it was used along side highlights or balayage to make the hair around your face "pop" and excentuate your facial features. I was taught that it made your end result look more expensive, had a longer lasting grow out, and overal gave a halo like glow to the skin. Basically they taught us that doing a "money piece" would make our clients feel more luxurious/lavish, and it would keep their colour looking fresher for longer.
@@killjoy555. i mean they didn't invent the blonde version obviously but they made this specific version (only having the money piece and often in fantasy colors) way more popular. They brought this back into popularity so give them at least some credit lol
Hair stylist refer to it as the money piece lol you can definitely tell she’s a professional or at least study it... not one person who just diys would measure on a scale lol 😂
Man this trend was huge in the 90's when i was a teenager. We called it chunks. There was even a kit called Chunking. We only did various blonde tones tho.
Same girl. Last time I dyed my hair was like 2 months before quarantine started and I want to dye it, but at the same time I don't want to touch it haha
I'm a professional hairstylist, and it's called a money piece due to the fact that while balayageing or highlighting we tend to make this piece brighter and make it pop! It is coined the money piece due to the fact that That's what clients see right away is the brightness around the face! Having/not having it can totally make or break a service!
Props to your face for being able to stand the bleach from your hair touching it so much! 🙈 Mine starts burning 5 seconds of even a slightest touch of hair bleach
@@Xan1120 it makes me feel old when I see people saying stuff like that. Like when kids say they know Emma Watson from Beauty and the Beast, I get a new wrinkle lol
Brad Mondo seriously needs to react to this video!! The way you explained why you would bleach each part in the order you were going to would make him sooo proud that you waited to bleach the roots last.
I remember in 4th grade I wanted highlights like my mom. So my uncle only bleached two pieces in the front for me to spread out brushing it back to have “highlights”
Learning about hair bc I want to be a hair stylist once finished with cosmetology I've always noticed natural blondes red heads n light brown hair has natural highlights and money peices me I have dirty blonde hair n always have had silvery platinum blonde money peices n highlights totally should dye my money peice dusty mauve purple itll look natural with the silvery purple shade
Ah I just did this hairstyle!! I was inspired by Kylie Jenner's look from around April, and Jennie from Blackpink! I did a pretty big chunk, one inch deep at the top of my head, down to my ears. The rest of my hair is natural colour. I think it's a fun way to have a low-effort style!
I have virgin hair to my butt currently, been growing it out after shaving it all off 5 yrs ago..my kids are getting a bit older so I've been doing fun stuff to their hair..watching your videos im so close to doing a money piece...just dunno what color yet!🤣
Ah yes, the Ginger Spice look. Love it. Someone else here in the comments pointed out it was called “chunking” back in the 90’s, at least where we’re from! 😘
So so pretty! Such a good job. Have you ever tried overtone to maintain your color? It’s really awesome bc it’s a very pigmented conditioner, so no damage! Comes in a ton of bright wild colors. I think you’d like it.
I was wanting to try a new pop.of color had no idea this "money piece" was a thing lol...but this is definitely something I would try. Not much bleaching and just adding the right amount of colour. Of course Stella makes it look awesome!
I used Aveda Dry Remedy shampoo and conditioner on my very fried bleached hair. It felt like hay and turned into my naturally curly, oily, healthy hair. I don’t know what you use but I really recommend it. It’s expensive but worth it
Yes, this makes me want to do mine. I don’t want my whole head bright pink (it’s just not me) and this is perfect! Very tempted.....just not doing it myself as I’ll totally balls it up! Love it xx
She’s the only person in the world the looks hella professional with colored hair.. BUT HOW DOES SHE DYE HER HAIR SO PERFECT BY JUST EXPERIMENTING 💀💀💀💀

yess, spread that knowledge. it’s so annoying that people think “e-girls” invented it 🙄 and name it after them smh

Ana Beatriz Sousa it’s from scene culture
@@killjoy555. yeah, e-girls are the modern scene/emo girls, like i said they brought it back (since scene became very underground after the 2000s)
Ahhh, I always wondered why they called it thought. I hated the name, but makes sense now.
The QUEEN of at-home hair dying is back at it again and has SLAYED it as per usual!! 👑 🙌
Her hair dying videos are brilliant but I would say the at-home queen of hair dying is defo Aka Aislinn for sure

What I find nice about Stela is that she doesn't hide the damage that bleach obviously causes on hair, regardless of care
Man this trend was huge in the 90's when i was a teenager. We called it chunks. There was even a kit called Chunking. We only did various blonde tones tho.
I did not know this style was called a money peice😂
same...
The two front strands are usually called money pieces when getting them bleached
@@Kelseyguurl but why? How did it became that name? 😯
I always just thought of it as the e-girl style lol
same
No one is remembering the OG X-men queen Rogue for this trend and it’s making me sad 😢😂
yes she’s all i think about whenever i see someone with their hair like this!!
So true!!
Same! I just can't see past really bad 00s home highlights in this trend. Sorry 🙈
SAME!
How dare those people! Rogue is the GOAT!
It’s crazy how your hair comes out beautiful EVERY SINGLE TIME

You can do it. I haven't bleached it in a year and OMG it feels like hair again, so healthy and in my head and not on the floor of my shower.

Seeing her not bleach her roots right of the start makes me think : "damn Brad mondo would be proud" 😂
I was literally going to comment that
But the only thing with this girl, is, she knows what she's doing she has slayed so many hair colors.
She is hairstylist in Malta, ofc she knows what she is doing 😁
@@dzanab3247 ain't saying otherwise haha

Knowing Stella's hair is porous after all the bleaching is sad and yet proved that her hair is still human's hair. Lol. Love you Stella.
