- If you couldn't tell already, the most obvious theme for this week is cleaning up with soap? What kind of soap, you say? Well, several kinds! Ivory, Camay, Safeguard, Lava, Boraxo, Dial, Soaky...fifteen minutes worth, to be exact!
Today's trip goes once again into the archives of 1001 Classic Commercials, to visit the good old days of advertising, and when saying "Softer Sex" didn't mean stuff that aired on movie channels after 11 pm.
Today, we'll look at fifteen minutes worth of suds!

Thanks for posting! Brought back some memories. I'm here because of "the smallest soap in the house". Can't believe thirty-one thousand people are on our wavelength! Yeah for soap and soap operas! Thx again!
Just love those old comercials
Wow,!! These old commercials!!! Cool.
That's one attractive container!
at 12:21 the lady that appears in the Lava soap commercial who's asking to see the boy's hands is General Hospital actress Jacklyn Zeman.
Dial gets you squeaky clean and smells love the gold bar & the spring water 💦 is my favorite as well
That has got to be the longest intro ever!
That woman said "soft sex has gotten even softer" 😂 no she didn't!
All that fuss over soap. Thanks for the memories.
You're welcome! :-)
First time I've heard the entire Soaky commercial since I was about 12 years old. Scary part is I remembered every wood in the jingle!
that of course should be "word!"
Lol I figured you meant "word"!
It is amazing what we remember after so many years!
Ivory was the only soap that didn't have a scent that other soaps did
Remember the soap opera Another World they used the commercial for Ivory Soap
My goodness Ronald Reagan😍 Futeure American president in a soap commercial, those were the days
And remember, he did commercials for General Electric when he hosted "The General Electric Theater."
At the time (1965), Ronnie was the host of U.S. Borax's "DEATH VALLEY DAYS". He often plugged Boraxo hand soap duing the program.
At 5:14 the man & lady in the Camay soap commercial are Avery Schrieber & Reva Rose.
The second Dial Soap spot is v/o'ed by Bob LeMond (RIP). Former NBA star Ernie Vandeweghe and his family recommend you use Safeguard.
Bob spoke for Dial throughout the 1950's.
@@fromthesidelines Bob LeMond also introduced a new bug killer by S.C. Johnson (then Johnson Wax) called Raid, in 1956.
He also spoke for Raid into the early 1960's.
@@fromthesidelines Bob LeMond was one TV's most successful voiceover announcers during the 1950s and 1960s. Others during that period
have included Peter Thomas, Rex Marshall, Verne Smith, Jackson Beck,
Fred Collins, Mel Brandt, Andre Baruch, Joyce Gordon, the first successful
female voiceover, Gary Merrill, Don Morrow and Norman Rose.
Don't forget Mandel Kramer.
Beverly Garland ❤
IVORY 🧼 Smell's so lemony 🍋 fresh 🤍
At 6:11 the lady with the strawberry blonde hair in the red outfit is Beverly Garland.
YEP!
Creamy scrumptious soap
Ivory soap wasn't my favorite brand of soap because it was so dry didn't do much for bathing and shower I like zest and Irish spring now I prefer body wash now instead of regular soap whenever I shower feeling clean when I finish
My dad always liked Ivory soap, then he changed over to Dove. I was never that crazy about Ivory soap.
It dried my skin out like crazy.
I’m a coast man myself. Goofy as the commercials are I do feel better after a shower w it.
9:50- 1964 integrated commercial seen on "PETTICOAT JUNCTION" (sponsored by Procter & Gamble}.
12:58- Judith Lowry as "Grandma".
1:27- Ken Berry is one of the featured dancers.
Yes we used the word sex to differentiate men and women. Not gender which is for pronouns. What is the sex of the newborn. Male of female. That's how it was.
Ivory soap didn't have a great scent v
