Right!?! When I found myself single in my 30’s everyone kept telling me to find a sugar daddy. While I was finishing my business degree in finance. I was like why are you trying to project I can’t take care of myself and find a guy that gets me and we fit. Some guy who values the same things as me? I ultimately manifested exactly that for myself but I was offended at the sugar daddy suggestions lol. I told them all Free is an “F” word and there will absolutely be strings attached to someone else’s money. I love Keith’s quote. Im going to have to remember that one. Says it all so much simpler.
Great reaction! Most disturbing discussion afterwards...but great reaction!! You've heard enough songs by badass country women by now to know how NOT to piss your ladies off!! Take heed!! LOL Again, great reaction! Another great American Idol alumni to check out is Kellie Pickler. She's amazing also. In particular check out "I Wonder." The video is wonderful. But, the live version at the CMA is the best. She is introduced by Brad Paisley's wife, Kimberly. The song is on a very emotional topic and she does break down singing it at one point. Maddie and Tae have a song called "girl in a country song" and I always said I'd rather be a girl in a country song than a man in a Carrie Underwood song 🤣🤣😂😂
That mic trick Keith was talking about, does that have the same effect as a singer moving a handheld mic away from their face?... I've noticed, over the years, a lot of singers will do that when they go for the belting notes and vocal gymnastics... someone like our own Whispering Jack - John Farnham is one that did it all the time, especially in a live gig... speaking of Farnsey, have you boys ever heard any of his stuff? if not, I'd suggest his live version of "Help" with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, or any of the other numbers from that series of concerts, absolutely blows the roof off... not that I'm in any way biased...as the one and only Ian Molly Meldrum would say, "Do y'self a favour"... Keith, ya earballs will love it!!... ;))
Yeah, mic quality has really gotten better over the years, and singers can use noise cancelling capabilities to basically "gate" themselves by holding the mic back about a foot and a half. - Keith
She’s not a gold-digger. She’s a unsophisticated young woman dancing who catches the eye of a POS looking for a young one without the experience to see red flags all over a guy of his type love-bombing her with all sorts of gifts to bring her away from her world and whatever supports she may have had into his world and control where he feels safe enough to drop the act and act as though she’s his property and punching bag. Yeah, it had a happy ending. Try Carrie’s - Long Black Cadillac Martina McBride - Independence Day and/or A Broken Wing Maddie & Tae - Girl in a Country Song Little Big Town - Tornado Kelsea Ballerini - Miss Me More Brandy Clark - Girl Next Door Edited to delete ones I discovered you already did.

Missed them, thanks for pointing them out. I do like you guys. That’s why I subscribed. (I just have a strong opinion on these kind of songs & situations - used to work in the domestic violence unit of an Ohio legal aid.)
Carrie doesn't use any extra devices to help her vocals at all. Or as he tried to say extra mics a bit away from her. Carrie got that much control and power in her vocals.
Please react to: Waylon Jennings - Rose in Paradise. The story will blow you away, the vocals, perfection and Waylon’s guitar work, magnificent. Not over-produced!
Love Carrie Underwood, no matter what she sings her voice is ridiculous. " He hit a woman for the very last time" is regular Carrie, men vs woman ugh is her thing. I'm not saying the message isn't important. Drinking Alone is a good and different story line. Also her duet Miranda Lambert "Something Bad" is really good. Not many female singers will stand up with Carrie and say here's my girl, listen.
Its not about gold diggers guys, just another POS guy who likes to beat on women! I love Carrie, love her vocals, love her messages, just love her. She got rid of the POS in the end, so it had a good ending. Love you guys, keep doing what you do!!!!🥴 I mean hell a barrel of Pool Acid is always your best bet, it dissolves EVERYTHING!!!!! LOL And honestly with these women who can honestly sing the crap out of these songs, I don't mind some vocal effects. They're never using autotune, so a few tricky things don't bother me.
I think you guys are slightly off the mark about the woman in the song. I don't think she was a gold digger, I think she was a girl who grew up super poor, but had looks, so he noticed her. He probably love bombed her (I was a psych major, sorry 😂) and showered her with expensive gifts and trips and put stars in her eyes, and then after they were married, he let the facade fall away and showed what he really was: an abusive coward. That's always been my take on the song, but maybe it just slants that way for me because I'm a domestic abuse survivor myself.
Hi .There some other carrie songs u need to check out like blown away two black Cadillac or maybe her and Miranda's song something bad or carries last name or wasted please like Dustin said don't let her slouch
I always got the impression this song was “placed” earlier in history when love wasn’t as much a factor as practical benefits. The guy was preying among the poor women to find the most beautiful one that he thought he could control. The poor woman was happy to get the attention of someone who could raise her up from her financial situation. Before the current century or so, that was a common situation. I wouldn’t call her a great person, but I wouldn’t call her a gold digger, either. That’s a very modern concept that I don’t believe fit the storytelling for this one. Id put it in the 1950s/1960s, especially using “lawmaker” in the lyrics. You don’t hear that much anymore.
Carrie singing about violence - like this one or "Before He Cheats" - just seems wrong. As for effects on her voice; just not needed. I was channel surfing years ago and came upon her singing on a TV competition show. I listened for literally seconds and I called to my son to come hear this girl. I said, "I don't know if she's going to win, but she will have a career".
I can't stand a woman who uses a man for his money or to raise her social status. That's a bleep that needs knocked down a peg. But if he hits her, even once, even when she's golden diggin' he deserves the four letter words beat out of him. Country and rock have intermingled because unless you listen to classic rock stations, all you get on the "rock" stations now is Rap. Loved the song, first time I've heard it myself. As for the bourbon. I saw that beautiful coloring and almost drooled. What was the name of this again? I love granny Smith apples. There is nothing better, to me, on a hot late summer afternoon then ice cold granny Smith and having some bourbon that tastes like bourbon with hints of Carmel and apples, would please me greatly! Y'all never fail to make me giggle. Thank you. Stay warm up there, 16° down here in my lil hamlet in Texas. Snow on the ground covered in a nice sheet of ice. If y'all have to go out becareful. 😊 Edited 3 times for typos.
You don't know what you're talking about!!!! You need to listen her songs in live settings!!! There's no difference, exceopt better!! You need to listen to her performances with Guns and Roses! Live concert in London!!!!
To me ( my beliefs only), a lot of these new Country Western songs all have the same tempo and sound alike to me. I wish I had better words for what I mean. It is like they all have the same poetry tempo. dah da dah da dah da daa. Hell, I wish I was more educated. Johnny Cash's A Boy Named Sue and Folsom Prison Blues don't sound anything alike.
The thing with gold diggers is that the man knows they are golden diggers and don’t care because they make them look good, men who marry a women who is just after the money usually are aware and are using them as well
He paid for a trophy wife. She got out of poverty. Also, country will have 2-3 choruses with the same words, but will have different meanings. A lot of "country" ends up there because it doesn't fit in other genres.
What makes her a gold digger? You immediately ASSUME it. She was dancing, caught the eye of a rich man. She wasn’t out there HUNTING for a rich man. You’re telling us more about your attitudes than anything else.
@@BourbonCountryReacts 😂 If only, honey. Oh, how much easier my life would be today…😉 PS - have you seen the OTHER Underwood “How Great Thou Art” video? She sings live, but it’s during covid, so it’s in an empty auditorium. No Vince Gill, sadly, and a lot more production… I’d rank it a close second to the awards show one. But it still sweet as hell.
We heard both in the song. Gold digger AND POS who got what he had coming. - Keith
I can't argue with that perspective -Dustin
Hi .There some other carrie songs u need to check out like blown away two black Cadillac or maybe her and Miranda's song something bad or carries last name or wasted please like Dustin said don't let her slouch
Conway Twittys " She Only Meant To Use Him" tells a good story of what Keith said about marrying for money. Til the next 🖒

I know it’s been said, but please do Two Black Cadillacs with the original video and see if you can see the connection to Stephen King.

Try ashley mcbryde girl going nowhere, or Bible and 44..
Really like Ashley Mcbryde. I vote for both of these too. 👍

listen to Diry Laundry!
Is this an original, or a cover of the Don Henley tune? - Keith
It’s an original, I’d recommend the live version from the 2016 CMA’s where she put together an all girl band for the performance!
Hey I have said ear balls before leave him alone 😂😂
Carrie singing about violence - like this one or "Before He Cheats" - just seems wrong. As for effects on her voice; just not needed. I was channel surfing years ago and came upon her singing on a TV competition show. I listened for literally seconds and I called to my son to come hear this girl. I said, "I don't know if she's going to win, but she will have a career".
She has pipes -Dustin

The thing with gold diggers is that the man knows they are golden diggers and don’t care because they make them look good, men who marry a women who is just after the money usually are aware and are using them as well
Listen to Charlie's Daniel band simple man

He paid for a trophy wife. She got out of poverty. Also, country will have 2-3 choruses with the same words, but will have different meanings. A lot of "country" ends up there because it doesn't fit in other genres.
Yeah, from our view, there was no good person in this story. - Keith

What makes her a gold digger? You immediately ASSUME it. She was dancing, caught the eye of a rich man. She wasn’t out there HUNTING for a rich man.
You’re telling us more about your attitudes than anything else.
I'll file this under "things gold diggers say." - Keith

😂 If only, honey. Oh, how much easier my life would be today…😉
PS - have you seen the OTHER Underwood “How Great Thou Art” video? She sings live, but it’s during covid, so it’s in an empty auditorium. No Vince Gill, sadly, and a lot more production… I’d rank it a close second to the awards show one. But it still sweet as hell.
(And I am a rabid atheist, mind you, but every freaking time I watch her sing that song, I bawl. Make of that what you will, Dr. Freud…)

If she is ok with it and he is flashing money is it really gold digging

I love her voice but this song I do Not like. She does much better songs than this.
I don’t think Jenny went with him for moeny butnhe prob smooth talked her and she prob thought her fairly tale dreams had come true 😂 and abusers always make themsleves likeable to the victim at first . The mats how they get ya
