Is it weird that I’m kind of postponing listening to this episode just because I FREAKIN' LOVE THE TITLE? I feel like I want to save it for the coziest moment to enjoy it
I guess it’s more like of a culture thing ! Here in Morocco ( I know all Arabs are pretty much like this ) we don’t do the asking part ! If I do invite people I’ll cook for them and if I don’t feel like cooking something I’ll just buy it . But we never ever ask a guest to bring something even if we’re super close to each others . They’re a saying ( i don’t know how to translate it exactly) but it means that « everyone who enters your house is your responsibility » so for us it’s more like of generosity and expression of love to take care of the guests even if they show up unannounced ❤
Same in Palestine and Jordan. But since I came to egypt, I noticed that sometimes they do these dish parties where everyone brings their own dish. The weirdest thing though was when I first came here and I go to my housbands’ family or friends, I am expected to make my own drinks and it was okay kind of but I did not like on bit when I was trying to serve them at my house and they just swarmed the kitchen and everyone was making their own thing 😂 like wait, it’s tea and cold drinks then coffee let me serve you 😂😂😂 I always get the vibe that they are heavily influenced by the American culture here. Which is cool!
Love the podcast. Always a pleasure to listen to :) You have such a healthy, respectful and loving relationship. This is a huge role model and helpful in own relationships. By the way... you say from time to time, that you put something in the comments, like here the receipt or picture of the sandwich. I normally listen to it on apple podcast or here on youtube. Where can I find the comments because I could see it on the podcast shownotes. Can't see any comment section :) Happy for any help. The sandwich sounded great :)) take care!!
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving where I live -- that being said, shoutout to you guys from Portugal. I've been obsessed with your podcast lately, and it has been my companion wherever I go. Now, when it comes to hosting, here, at least in my friend group, we have kind of a different way of doing things. We are still in our early to mid-twenties, and starting off on our professional careers, so we don't go out to eat much, to save money. Therefore, we get together at my house, mostly because it's bigger and has an outside space. That being said, we always share the price of the meals we have together. But, has you guys mentioned, it's all about communication, and this is something we have agreed upon a few years ago, so everyone is fine with it. Sometimes one of us gets a new job, or gets a raise, or is doing an interesting project, so on those occasions that person brings a little treat for everyone (a good bottle of wine, a good dessert, etc.). And that's how we do it, and it works wonders for us 😊 When it comes to cleaning, I totally agree with what Yoni said: don't ask if there's something you could do, just do it! Hope you guys had a great Friendsgiving! See you on the next episode! ❤❤
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving on my country, so my holiday season won't start until Christmas haha but the idea of Friendsgiving is amazing, we´re planning to apply that concept and spend the New Year with friends 🙌 Happy holidays to you guys!
Now that I’m listening, oh man, I totally remember that episode of Life with Louie where sweet potatoes saved the day, and the whole neighborhood spent a cozy night dining together at Louie’s. And I'm not American so I also thought like "what the heck is a sweet potato?" hahahah. For some reason, that episode really stuck with me. I was watching the show on Fox Kids, which eventually got rebranded and became 'Jetix' :'))))
Hosting especially the holidays is very stressful that’s why I rarely host lol 😂 but always bring stuff when I do go somewhere also this episode is very timely during thanksgiving and the holidays 🌟🤍

haha! I feel you! I have a tendency to go to other people's party instead of hosting!
