    The tale is that drummer Philthy Animal Taylor asked Lem to write a song that would showcase his new double-kick bass drums. The result was the absurd overkill of "Overkill." They'd often close their show with this track, crank the amps, and leave the guitars propped against them, sending peels of feedback thru the building. Absolute rock heaven. RIP.

    • @FrostWazowski
      @FrostWazowski Месяц назад

      Actually, this started as a warm-up exercise. Lem and Eddie walked in to find Phil playing this alone on drums and were so blown away by what he was doing that they made an entire song around it. It was never meant to be one.

    Motorhead were the Godfathers of Thrash. They were the first band to merge Punk and Rock/Metal laying the foundation for later bands like Venom, EXODUS (The first Thrash band IMHO), Metallica, etc. Lemmy always insisted they were a Rock and Rock band playing the Blues and the reason they played so fast was because they were on speed all the time.

    Lemmy Kilmister, lead guitarist of The Sam Gopal Band in the 60s, bass guitarist of Hawkwind in the 70s and creator, bass guitarist and lead vocals of Motorhead from the 70s till he passed recently.
    The song Motorhead that started it all was originally a Hawkwind song. The Motorhead style of music pre-dates thrash by a few years.

    • @bionicgeekgrrl
      @bionicgeekgrrl 2 года назад

      He got his singing by chance with hawkwind and it was a big hit. Then they later fired him for getting arrested for drugs and his response was motorhead, which critics hated, but he didn't care about critics he cared about rock music. He was one of the few who would state his early influences being bands like the shadows when they were very much out of vogue, but he didn't care as he knew that all the musicians of his generation grew up listening to those sorts of bands.

    Back before there were so many electronic gadgets in our lives we music heads spent all our money on Hi-Fi stereo systems with 20 band graphic equalizer to get the sound just the way we wanted. Whenever yall listen to old stuff and think it doesn't sound as good as today you are getting the actual sound of music if you want todays processed generic sound that you think is good get an equalizer.

    One of the best things about watching your reaction videos (apart from that it's fun to see your reactions) is that you don't spend like 4 minutes with introductions. It's traight to the action. That's appritiated. Keep it up!

    I was lucky enough to meet both Lemmy and drummer Philthy Phil a few times over the years starting in the 80s. I only had to meet Fast Eddie Clarke but he died a few years ago so there goes that.

    LMFAO!!!
    Poor Brad!
    He's just SO musically dim, and perhaps even soulless, while Lex is absolutely brilliant, perceptive, and FEELS every bit of it...
    Analogy- Brad is "Chopsticks" and Lex is "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"
    Oh, and never forget,
    LEMMY IS A Rock n Roll GOD!

    Lemme would tell you they play rock and roll,not heavy metal. You need to watch Lemme's milk commercial,hilarious! "Trick question Lemme is god"

    Lemmy is the main writer, singer, bassist. He always said they didn't play metal, ("we play rock and roll, just faster and louder than everyone else") but all the people that came after said Motorhead paved the way for thrash and speed metal. The double bass drum through this whole song was first for that kind of thing. Everyone says Lemmy's voice is a natural result of years of Marlboro's and Jack Daniels, seems like good bet. I wish it was louder in the mix too, but usually it wasn't. Larger than life guy, lots of history, very smart & well read, you should watch his documentary sometime.
