- Hey folks! I'm so excited that this new retrospective series, "Battle Peak" is finally seeing the light of day!
This project has been in the works for over a year now; helmed by dual hosts, Tyler & Jesse, Battle Peak is an in depth retrospective of LEGO's Exo Force theme. The best part? You won't have to worry about Slugger trying to juggle this with all of his prior series commitments! (Sorry to Rock Raiders fans who are still waiting on me..!)

There is a reason all the other creators talk highly of you, you have shown me a bunch of people in the community already but making a whole little 3 minute ad for someone else’s channel is just such a “Lego community” thing to do. You positivity in always loved Slugger I’ll make sure to go check out your friends it looks super cool!
Exo Force has so much nostalgia for me, thank you for showing this series!
Never had any of the sets, but I did collect some of the Bionicle and Knights Kingdoms recolored weapons it gave us. Oh and the robot limbs, they are vital to any Bionicle custom hand designs.
Exo Force alt builds went crazy hard.
I think that the big, bipedal robots stretched the piece counts too thin in most sets, leaving them a bit bare and flimsy-looking, while the alt builds used more compact and detailed designs. Compare the Stealth Hunter set to the "Stealth Wasp" alt build and you'll see what I mean--I think a lot of the Exo Force alts outclass their original sets.

That's awesome of you! You might even be surprised how much they pack into a single episode - I found myself learning a lot about kanji in it! 😊
Lol that gray dude’s samurai helmet is cool with the pistols. Imagine if you went into battle with him with a sword and then he stops and pulls the pistols off his helmet and shoots you.
Exo-Force was a favorite theme of mine back in the day, and I seriously regret not getting more of it. It’s real interesting seeing how they took the idea of mecha and applied it to future themes, notably spiritual successor Ninjago with its own plethora of anime-styled mechs.
I love that you're promoting these creators, because I found out about this channel through a random video which was just reviewing how quality your content was. This is my favorite way to learn about other creators.
I've returned here from their channel, and even after one episode, I am impressed with their work. Just like yourself, I can see a deep level of appreciation of the theme as well as passion for the video format they've went through, so I know your recommendation is a genuine one.
I only aspire to be in that level of personal finesse for any given hobby, or subset of hobby, one day.
it's awesome to see you promoting people that are doing the same thing you do! We need more of that in the world as a whole! Competition is only good for both creators and customers!

I think ExoForce was right on the cusp of my dark age. I definitely had the white mech with the blue hair minifigure and the small orange mech. I don't remember playing with them much, though.
I feel like Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop was the extent of the anime I watched at the time, so "Anime Lego" wasn't the mind-blowing theme for me that it could have been for others. The rubber hair was interesting, though!

Exo-Force came out during my dark period where I wasn't into LEGO at the time, but my best friend has the big fortress arena set and it's pretty epic.
Exo Force is y favourite series I didn't get to experience in my childhood so I'm really excited. If you with your amazing and full of passion videos recommend this guys they are definitely going to deliver!

It might be overkill in the end, but Windows was just *barely* working for me. It’s always just been an “okay” operating system, not a “good” one. So far, I’ve been loving Linux, but I still have a lot of work to do before I can start making videos with it.
@@RRSlugger I've heard a lot of good things about Linux, but I was always scared how much work you need to put into customizing it. I hope it works for you and you can set it up forever :)

You inspire me slugger. Maybe one day AT Levi will be a thing on youtube but even if it doesnt youve reinvigorated my desire to get Alpha Team sets, a theme I've only played the game of till this point.
Exo-Force was one of those waves as a kid that I really enjoyed the sets I had, and always wanted to get more. Unfortunately, my limited budget went mostly to Bionicle those years.
When you've got other creators imitating your video style, you know you've Made It as a youtuber.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Milky White accomplished almost nothing in its near 50 year run(according to BL) as a Lego color.
A series roasting/praising Lego colors would also be fun.

Oh my god!! I can’t believe it!!! Slugger, you don’t understand. Exo-force is my favorite Lego theme.
I was obsessed with Star Wars as a kid so no Lego themes were deserving of my time of day. At most I would integrate other Lego sets into a Star Wars theme in some way. Exo Force was THE exception. I would try to convince all my frirnds that this was everything. Thanks for accomodating this theme in a way.
Cheesy made me apreciate this theme more that I did.

I feel like this might be a controversial move to some, announcing a project that isn't yours might frustrate some people who wish it was an announcement for a project of yours instead, but this is a great thing the community should encourage! sharing the love between high quality creators!

unfortunately ive already seen several exo-force retrospectives very recently, i love this theme so much but its just already been covered a lot in the past year.
True, but I'm certain none of those videos are quite as *in depth* as this one is. If you've only got a passing interest in the theme though, this might not be for you. 👍
Are you talking about Cheesy Studio's retrospective? I love his channel and really like his lookbacks. I also feel like it's a bit of a repeat, but I think I'll still go check out their retrospective. I wouldn't mind an introduction to some foreign language 😅

Sorry for the delay, haha! There's been quite a cavalcade of home renovation projects that jumped up out of nowhere - plus, transferring everything over to my new PC is taking time. I'll be able to think about LEGO again in the future, but for now, it's been a bit of a slog!

Cool to see you switching over to Linux! Which distro are you thinking of using? I personally find Fedora (with the KDE environment) very useful for a work environment, it hits the perfect balance of stability and up-to-date software (and just software variety, thanks to its built-in flathub support, lol).
I’m such a newbie - I’ve gone with Mint and have been enjoying it so far! Just gotta get some Nvidia drivers sorted out before I can make videos with that machine. 😊
@@RRSlugger Gotcha, can't go wrong with Mint for sure! It's what I started out with too, though I quickly got annoyed by the app support XP
You can't really go wrong with most mainstream Linux distros honestly; only one I'd recommend against is Manjaro, which I switched to after Mint wanting more app choices, but after about a year I realized it's kind of held together by strings and tissue paper, as an OS. Very buggy and prone to breaking in the long-term.

I've spotted more and more pictures of different themes, sets and other in the summer of slug videos. Given the Slug Methodology, I suspect we're slugishly ramping up to a plethora of retrospective in the snailable future

I know!! I never thought someone as tech-illiterate as myself could make that leap, but irrational hate for Microsoft makes one do crazy things. I even typed some things into the command line the other day! 😅
If I may, as a Mint user (yes, one of THOSE comments :P), I'll say this about the CLI: Don’t let yourself be intimidated by it, as you often don't have to use it, and don't even bother trying to memorize every single command- it's a waste of time. Just print out a cheat sheet and save yourself the trouble.

Thank you! It's a huge leap for a non-tech savvy person like myself, but I'm loving it so far! Just got to figure out some driver issues before I can start making videos with it, but once I do, ease of use during production should increase! 😊

FINALLY I have a place for my *lego men* (that’s seriously what the eBay listing for the cavalry minifigures I bought in an auction were called by the seller) to kick off their boots and wax their mustaches. And argue about silver standard and be racist and all that other old timey stuff.

Why linux? Why just don't set up proper windows? There are fan builds of Windows without garbage
To be honest, I’ve never *loved* Windows - I’ve always just felt it’s “okay”. I’m only a week into using Linux and I’m already loving it way more! 😊
I was genuinely hyped about this, but then these dudes made only that one one episode and nothing for two months.
I would prefer content from someone a bit more serious and dedicated.
Oh, I can vouch for their dedication! They’ve got their hands on some incredibly rare Exo Force stuff and are still doing a lot of backend planning for the series.
But they’re also new to this - when I started on RUclips, it would also take me months to get a new video out. Only through streamlining my creation process and filling up my B roll catalogue was I able to increase the speed of production without compromising the quality I wanted to see. We just need to be patient. 😊
