Lol.....Welllll.....I have to say Ellen, I gave it my best shot. And yes! It came out beautiful!! But, mine looks a bit like a major Nor'easter has arrived! Yes, just as you said, you certainly can get a tad carried away with splattering the guache! Happy Holidays!! 👩🦳🖌️🎄
I started watercolor a week ago. Not a clue how even to start. I’ve subscribed to your channel and I’ve learned so much! I love your channel so much because you make it ok to not be perfect. I really like the way you talk through your videos, it really helps. You always say come on you can do this. Turns out I think I can. Thank you! I wish I could have some I’ve done critiqued to see how I’m doing. 💙
I love this. I also got a good laugh at the “ tap tap taps” to sprinkle snow…it reminds me of a scene on The Parent Trap when the twin girls showed their potential step-mom, how to tap two sticks together to keep the mountain lions at bay!!!
I am teaching watercolor to a small group of developmentally disabled adults and I am going to get them to try this. It’s amazing how well they do! I will try and show you some of their work sometime. They love your videos as much as I do!
This is really a masterpiece. You say easy? I'm going to give it a shot. The magic is probably the expensive Arches paper other than your mastery!!😊!! I have Canson and I'll try it on that. Thanks so much to make it fun.
I’m learning SO much! Thank you! I’m very ill from osteoporosis and some days I can hardly move from my aching back...then I paint! Tomorrow I will try this! Maybe it will be ok and I can give it to my little brother who has helped me a lot lately, when I’ve been extra much in pain.
Being creative is such a wonderful way to manage and cope with life's challenges and difficulties...physical and mental. Time flies and pain is lessened. RUclips is wonderful for learning about art and the tutorials are fabulous. I put on some music or listen to an audio book and the world becomes a better place. My new project for the next year is to work with the exercises in Lorna Scobie's books all beginning with the title"365 Days of" ...Drawing, Creativity, Art in Nature, etc. they are actual work books with tons of stimulating ideas and exercises. Some times i am just not stimulated and don't know what to do in my "creativity center" so i have a feeling these will be fun and give me a kick start. Plus there is always something new to learn. My best wishes to you. Make art part of every day.
Sorry to hear about your osteoporosis... I'm 67, and fairly healthy, but I have times when my stress won't be relieved by anything but painting. I paint and forget everything else! People like Ellen help guide us on the journey... she has taught me so much! 💗
I’m so sorry to hear about your condition. I too suffer from extreme back pain, have compression fractures and severe osteoporosis. I started watercolour painting as well as a way to distract my mind. I even started a RUclips channel but, sadly, due to multiple setbacks, have not even been able to sit and paint for over 2 months. I hope your pain allows you to continue to paint and that you can enjoy your artistic journey ❤️
You’re a true artist!!!! Your work is fantastic! I don’t paint but I watched this whole video and marveled at how well you work. It’s like magic. And you’re so relaxing to watch. I saw some videos of a Polish girl that was painting but I couldn’t stand the way she just kept babbling on as if she liked to hear her own voice. Not like you do. The things you said and the way you expressed yourself were perfect. Calm and relaxing. And fun. In the other videos of that Polish girl, she kept on saying she loved everything she was doing! Every stroke!!! It was very bothersome. I appreciated your character so much more and your way of approving your work as you go along, in an intelligent way. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent. (P.S. I have nothing against Polish people!!!)
I absolutely love your tutorials! I'm new to trying out water colours and am amazed at the results I'm getting from following your lessons. You make it so fun and really explain everything well. Thank you so much xx
Hi Ellen, just wanted to say thank you for giving me the inspiration to pick up my paintbrushes again. I lost my way due to illness and then the intensive care and worry for my elderly dog as she came to the end of her life. I didn't think I would ever feel creative again but thanks to your tutorials I have now painted 10 Christmas cards and am looking forward to giving this a go. Stay safe..
I just did this AGAIN after a couple of years. Love it but struggled with the bird. I might have to make him into part of the tree; but lovely effects and you are easy to follow! THANK YOU.
I just started two of these, and they are drying, just finished the snow in the air..what a fantastic background idea!! Brilliant, thanks so very much Ellen! Looking forward to doing the foreground shortly!
So great! Reminds me fairytale “12 Months”, where poor little girl goes for snowdrops for the Princess. And there in the forest she meets 12 brothers Months. For her kind heart they helps her. And Miracles happens to her.... Thanks for video. Its really simple. Draw for my family...
First painting I've done in 14 months since before my Mother Passed away last Feb. Very Good to be painting again this was so wonderful. Loved your tutorial. Thank you.
I loved this so much! I lost my dad 10 years ago on 11/18/2012 and my brother just a year ago on 11/11/2021. I put a cardinal in each tree to represent both of them.
Ellen you are quickly becoming my go to RUclips artist. I love your commentary throughout the video and your voice is very relaxing. Thank you very much. I will become a patron.
Came back (2022) to say that I did make a couple of these last year. Coming back because I want to make more this year. They turned out so well! I impressed myself. Haha-And I’m my worst critic. Probably the prettiest Christmas cards I’ve made. (Thanks for your great instructions.)
I painted this today and I learned a few things. I kept needing to add water to get the paint to keep running to the edge. I learned that I needed way more paint than I usually use! It took me beyond a 'hesitant' threshold, which was great. I wanted to use it for my Christmas card this year, but I will try another one before I decide. I kept backing away to get a different perspective and see if it was good enough and when I realized I was in the living room and my painting was in the dining room I started laughing. Try try again! I love the blues and greens of this! Thank you, Ellen. :)
This was auch a famtastic tutorial! I've NEVER tried watercolors before, and my picture turned out amazing! Your commentary helped so much. Thank you!😀
Love watching you paint. Beautiful wintry scene for a card. Thanks for sharing. As soon as my paints arrive I cannot wait to try this, along with many others you have shared. So happy to have found your channel.
I love this. I have tried it twice now and though my results are not horrible, they don't compare with the beauty you captured in yours. I have rewatched your video now and I see where part of my downfall was, so hopefully the third time will be the charm. Thank you for sharing your gift with us!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I loved it! At work, I was recently put in charge of teaching one watercolor class a month and one acrylic class each month. I need tutorials like this so that I can get better in order to teach my participants . I know I'm not really qualified to teach watercolor. But, we all have fun and that's what matters. Thanks again!❤❤❤❤
Super Ellen, j'adore vos tutoriels, even if you speak a bit to quickly for me, but not a big deal !!! I love the way you explain, seems (and some times is) so easy. Thanks to you I rediscovered an old hobby !
Love your work Ellen! I've been painting for years (self-taught), and have really been wanting to learn watercolor. Your tutorials are wonderful and very helpful. I'm less afraid to try now, and have done one of your mini landscapes which turned out pretty good. Thank you!
Knocked it out of the park this time. The techniques you used this time were great. I never would have thought about doing that technique on the pine. I absolutely loved it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. ❤️
love your videos, you show that you don't need to know 100% what you are going for and that it's ok to make mistakes and twick it on the go, thank you so much!!
This is fantastic! I've done this scene on cards with variations and my friends love them. I usually go nuts with cards for the holidays... Thanks so much, I love how you are so encouraging. Would never tried this on my own.
I am an almost 86 yo; love your abstracts, the ore abstract the better. Thank you
Hello usermq8fy… , I 82 and find watercolor a nice expressive medium. Octogenarians rule.
