I’m a big Trent fan, but he was a disgrace. He’s a local lad, he knows what that game means and he strolled through it without a care in the world. Didn’t break a sweat all day and everything came down that side. His whole demeanour was appalling. I can accept bad performances, they are human, but lack of effort and desire is unforgivable
What follows is not an excuse for fan behavior that goes over the top. Things like racist comments from fans are inexcusable. But barring that ... The vast majority of LIV supporters, both from LIV in the ground and otherwise, would be OK with Trent going and wishing him well. They don't view him as an indentured servant FFS and fully realize he has the right to make his own career choices. What has people pissed off are: 1. All the "I dream of being LIV captain one day", "This means more" emotional BS that's come out of his mouth in the past. 2. The fact he's not been direct , forthright, and honest with the fans about his intentions. It gives the distinct impression that he's using the fans to leverage max $ from both RM and LIV. 3. The fact the RM bid in the New Year to come early absolutely had to have his camp's approval 4. His lack of application and body language. Which is simply bringing to the fore every fan's worst nightmare in terms of the implications for him remaining with the team for the 2nd half while prepping to go to RM in the summer. These are all facts and a chilly fan response to them is perfectly understandable and should have been expected by; the club, the player, and his camp. In the end ... TAA and the club can eliminate it in a heartbeat by coming fwd with clear answers as to what is going to happen. Whether it's; sign and stay, go now, go in the summer yet play regularly in between, or go in the summer and ride the pine in the interim ... the fans just want to know what the path fwd is and I think they'll quickly come to accept it. Especially with a title challenge hanging in the balance. The players, who are the most important factor here of all, would probably like some certainty about the TAA situation too.
No one in that crowd slagged Trent off because he’s leaving, they slagged him off because he ambled around the pitch, couldn’t be arsed tracking back after losing the ball multiple times. His attitude stinks and he’s playing as though he doesn’t want to be here. That’s fine if he doesn’t by the way, but he needs to make it known and leave now before it derails our season.
I was calling for Trent to be subbed at half time because it was obvious he was going to cause us shipping more goals. I understand why he wasn't, but without a shadow of a doubt, the time to hook him off would have been after Mo put the pen away. You could chalk off the reasonings for simple tactical ones like wanting to shut up shop. I knew if he was left on we'd concede again, such was his attitude and the way he was playing. People have every right to be pissed off at him. Slot's really first big mistake so far. BTW, if anyone disagrees here, then you also have to have a word against VVD, because he looked absolutely fucked off with him and let him know verbally on the pitch. Virg was just as fucked off with him as the rest of us.
Brilliant point about Dalot and not putting it on him enough, Mo. We got drawn into this weird end-to-end battle and didn't show the tactical acumen that has been prevalent under Slot.
I was in the ground with my son who was giving Trent stick....not because he wants to go /might go...but because he wasn't running/tackling enough...100% is minimum requirement.. YNWA lads..Great show
I just gonna say this video is one of the reasons I rather listen to your podcast than all the other (many of them click-batey) options out there. I am now even supporting you on Patreon, so thank you for what you do and that perspective you offer in a sea of negativity during a season we never thought we'd be where we are at now. Up the Reds!
Bit disrespectful to just call big jorg klopps mate because he literally revamped our entire midfield in one window and is probably more responsible for us being where we are then that “where’s wally” Richard Hughes
First things first, 100% agree we support the men in red no matter what I do though find it a weak argument that he’s always been the type of player to lose his head when the chips are down That is not the character of a future captain, or of a right back deserving of £300k a week
Fans have every right to have a go at Trent. It was not just a bad game, every player has them. I'ts the lack of effort, he looked like he did not give a shite. Virgil looked like he wanted to rip his head off.
Welcome Mo, great show lads. Agents, money, owners, players, none of us will ever know what the contract situation is until it's done. Top of the League fellas. YNWA.
Personally I think Arnold and his representatives have told Madrid to bid so LFC and its fans cannot then say “you went on a free” when the club have had an opportunity to get something for him. It is a PR strategy.
@17 mins: disagree with the panel about Trent leaving. Unlike 2005 when Liverpool were 5th in the league we're now competing for a quadruple. LFC are better than Madrid. Trent would be mad to leave now. He should sign another three year contract with an option to leave after two.
The fans have to be careful, the toxicity could drive Trent straight into the arms of RM. He deserves all of our support while he’s wearing the red of LFC.
Final post... I felt exactly that when Dalot got booked, I thought "great, that's how we're gonna get a goal or two in this game, overloading his position and he's either going to have to let a man past without fouling or he's going to be at risk of a second yellow and we'll be playing 10 men". Unfortunately, I don't know if it's not been considered by our lot, but they just didn't have that in mind. I would hope Mo could maybe ask a question about this sort of scenario in another presser. Should the team be made aware that if a player gets a booking then, regardless of what instructions he's given them for the match, they should have free reign to target that weakness a good few times over the next hour. Teams have done that against the reds before, so we should be prepared to tweak our tactics to do it, especially if it's against a poor (or at least recently very poor) Utd.
I remember listening to Aldo on Radio City when a streaker got on the pitch in a cup game in the middle of winter. Aldo was a classic. "Doesn't he know it's cold? Looks like a walnut whip" 😂😂😂
That's why we're mad at the owners and management because all 3 of these deals should be sorted by now and it's threatening to derail our form! I will never be mad at any of our players
1 misplaced pass? he lost the ball 27 times & won 0 of 5 duals. I only care about his performance while he's at LFC & that was unnaceptable. By the sounds of it Virg was not happy judging by his comments. As long as Trent plays to the best of his ability while he's here I'll support him, but ambling around the field when your putting in a poor shift is not good enough!
This will only get worse Liverpool or Trent need to come out and either agree a contract or confirm he is gonna leave because this is a massive distraction and can cost us the league this season.
His head was gone. He was having a bad game - the crowd got on his back like never before and mentally he collapsed. At right back, you’ll hear everything… you’re right next to the stands… It must have been horrible for him. I love Trent.. don’t want it to end like this… we need to be better as supporters and grow up a bit.
Agreed fellahs - and all the more weird because we had a full week to rest and prepare and we still weren't at it. Didn't start like we did against City or Madrid and allowed them to play themselves into the game. Play like that against Forest and they will beat us. More mobility and physicality required in midfield for me. A quick, 6'+ 13 stone version of MacAllister will do!
Nobody likes to see a player struggle, especially one who has been fantastic for Liverpool like Trent. I kind of foresaw this coming, though, due to a lot of the noise surrounding Trent, Madrid, and all of that. Once a player is perceived to be not putting it in, the crowd can turn quickly... We also have an element of our fanbase who'll continually get on certain players cases. Jones is one who gets way too much critcism and has come through it. Hopefully, the kickback ensures Trent doesn't continue to get scapegoated in such a manner. We didn't start the game well, and with the intensity that we did against City or Madrid and the crowd wasn't as intense. As you say, Robbo, the mindset of the crowd didn't seem the same as in these matches, there was an air of complacency and I hate that. Especially against them.
You can use the "career" argument to justify a homegrown player in his prime representing his city choosing to jump ship and play for a rival all you want, but football isn't like any other profession. It's tribal, and you don't get forgiven for deserting the tribe. And btw the Gerrard situations were completely different. He had an awful lot more to bear on his shoulders than Trent ever will.
We seem to be playing a more end to end attack then defend game. What happened to controlled possession & making the other team work hard for the ball. We seem to have lost the control which Slot brought in.
Could have been 5-0 if the Gapko and McAllister chances had gone in. That's a fact about the 7-0 rout - United were our equal and dangerous for first 40 mins, then the goals all flew in, whereas in the 0-0 last season none did
If he’s running down his contract so that the club get nothing for him he deserves some stick. We don’t know the full situation yet though so it’s all premature.
Abuse aimed at Trent is scandalous. Whole team were muck on Sunday. If he was in anyway undecided lashing abuse at him will have made his mind up. Robbo, agree with the toxicity not into it HOWEVER…we’ve had a few chances this season to start pulling clear like 19/20 and have passed it up. I get the frustration tbh. Need to start a proper winning run soon to put Arsenal away….
Said last week hes having a bit of a mid life thing and he wants to focus all his energies on what he believes he absolutely excels in (I dont think he said what that was) and basically everything else - including the late tackle - was a distraction to that.
Trent and the media have done a great job of fans starting to not understand what's going on. Trent is humiliating fans. Bollock doors winners are above trent. Trent needs 2 weeks off to sort his head out. Connor Bradley.has to replace him now. Top defender and can challenge players 1 on 1.
I think the toxicity is largely just loud mouths on the internet. Most sensible Reds understand it’s disappointing not to capitalize on Chelsea and Arsenal drawing but we didn’t lose ground to them, and there’s one less game to play. Win the Derby and we are 9 ahead which is ridiculous at this stage of the season. Worth pointing out we have had injuries and it has clearly affected us defensively - ideal world we wouldn’t have needed Konate rushed back yesterday but he was and Trent had a complete nightmare of a game. Missed Szobo as well which was out of our control.
I used to be firm in this opinion but sadly the same toxicity and entitlement you se won socials has seeped into the ground. It isn't just online. Yesterday was horrible and it's echoed by many who I spoke to after.
Boss new team, don't agree with mo at all on this though I'm with carra, mo is totally missing the point. You can bet ya house that trent is worried about the backlash and reaction from the fan base yeah word has been out to Madrid to put an offer in to limit the damage. If he wants to go then that's fine, is he worth 300k ? Absolutely not. He's class going forward but a liability half the time at right back. All 3 players should never have been allowed to run their contracts down, if you can't agree with 18 months left, you're up for sale. That's on the owners
Don't be telling people how to react at the match Mo. If I want to shout 'Trent, you shithouse' I will. Shitting out of tackles against the mancs doesn't get a free pass., ever. You can tackle and lose it but you cannot shit out. .
Not having the Elliott/Zubimendi/Gerrard comps with Trent at all. When you you're a top player and play for a mid table club (at best) you're well within your rights to leave for a club more capable of fullfilling your ambition. Different story when your boyhood club is the best in europe in addition to you being captain and one of the highest paid players in their history. I can guarantee Gerrard wouldn't have thought about leaving for a single second if the club was in a similar position then. In fact if Trent was to leave there would be no precendent for it in the history of sports as far as i'm concerned.
Don't delude yourself. We're good now, we are but if you offered me a ucl and premier league in the next ten years (roughly to the end of trents career) I'd bite Your hand off. That would be *failure* at madrid, gerrard one won league cup between 25 and 35 which is a shocking underachievment for a player as good as him. He was dragged down by mediocre players and awful owners. Don't expect any other players to do the same
@@DH-TV We had 3 90+ point seasons and reached 3 CL finals with an infinitely worse squad so i have no idea where the pessimism stems from. Also most players come to the PL specifically to compete in the best league itw instead of collecting guaranteed trophies in leagues where 98% of the clubs are on the brink of bankruptcy. I'm not expecting Trent to do what the likes of Gerrard, Totti, etc. did and drag a shit team up. I'm expecting him to stay at the best team in europe who just appointed one of the best managers on the planet.
@martinszabo5578 I know you say we are "the best team in europe" but be honest would you take a league and champions league in the next 10 years or gamble? If you'd gamble fair play. But at real he'll win that easily
Lfc fans are the most toxic in the business. We're all a bit disappointed not to stretch the lead to 8 pts but looking at it another way we woke up 5 clear, played poorly and went 6 clear with another hurdle cleared. We come through the hectic xmas / new year period in a better place than we went into it. And yes, we know there is hard games to come but we're literally half way through the season; all the teams have hard games to come!
Give your head a wobble, son. Most toxic in the business? Wind your neck in. You won't get tragedy chanting at Anfield, or chants about poverty, or chants about someone getting beaten and left in a coma like some were doing with Sean Cox. You will not hear monkey chants, or even booing a player off the pitch. Although that last one I've only heard once in my life, and that was when lucas got subbed on for Gerrard.
@@ryanhurley14generally I'd agree. But when it comes to the specific issue of players leaving the fanbase does have form sadly. Many reds see Liverpool as the pinnacle and the best and take it as a personal afront when a player dares to want to leave. Particularly a local lad who a lot seem to think they have ownership over for life. I honestly thought most of us saw the Torres situation as the final reality check and end to the childhood/teenage illusion of how players/football works vs how fans think. Yet here we are again. The ground was toxic in parts and crossed over from giving him stick to just straight up abuse. Some giving him shit even before any major mistake was made. Like they came with the intention of having a pop. It was awful and I just hope that those pricks have got it out their system/aren't there again. Because that atmosphere will negatively contribute to things far more than just not having an update on the contract. The fact is we don't know anything yet conclusions have seemingly been drawn already. It's grim.

If he wants to go then that's fine, is he worth 300k ? Absolutely not. He's class going forward but a liability half the time at right back. All 3 players should never have been allowed to run their contracts down, if you can't agree with 18 months left, you're up for sale. That's on the owners
'Pay them what they want' - yeah and quadruple ticket prices, why don't you! Some fans don't do logic and consequences of decisions.
TLC top Liverpool chat👍
Don't be telling people how to react at the match Mo. If I want to shout 'Trent, you shithouse' I will. Shitting out of tackles against the mancs doesn't get a free pass., ever. You can tackle and lose it but you cannot shit out.
.
Why are we all talking about Trent and and Virgil isn’t getting a mention?
Yes mo
Agreed, some people need to get a Life/ self respect.
Gerrard handed in a transfer request after winning the European cup…Toni Kroos left Bayern
Don't expect any other players to do the same
@@j.s3300 We were shite despite winning the European cup. Toni Kroos had a falling out with Hoeness and isnt local either.
Maybe Jamie was right…? Trents people asked for the bid to go in to take the heat off going for free….
Game in hands the derby and the last one at goodison 😅
Paul who??? Mo is smashing it!! Only joking Copey mate... bill boots to fill!!
I wish we could just bury the contract talk altogether. The back and forth is exhausting and the only ones benefiting are the clickbait media.
Nah. Lfc fans are not the most toxic in the business.
It's grim.
Mo is very listenable compared to Copey. Will check out more.
