      anthony kennedy well if you dig a little deeper with Russo, he was doing creative when tna has their highest ratings, and was getting wcw ratings higher and back on track (but by then there wasn’t much hope)
      His wcw stuff if you go back and watch, was way more entertaining than the current wwe. But yeah I get it, his material was pretty divisive with the fan base.

      Ask yourself when the last time you heard people confused about who might win in a match because of their wrestling ability. It was back before Vince said this is all rigged. Instead now when someone wins its about whether they should have won or not. Fiend is buried because Vince made him lose, not because Rollins defeated him. Of course its spot fests just like movie fights are silly now. We have seen the old match style for so many years it had to evolve into a spectacle to bring in enough viewers to be viable. If Cornette ran a show today it would fail financially because we already saw it years ago when we thought it was real but now everyone is in on it. Ring psychology isn't enough to hold modern viewers. Hard for anyone to get heat cause we know its an act. People tried to kill Arn for breaking Dusty's leg, you will never have that again.

      Jr isn’t wrong on the covid shit but cornette is right. You gotta understand, wrestling has to make sense and if it doesn’t then why watch it? Why get invested? That’s one of cornette’s main arguments. He’s tough on aew because he wants them to change for the better. You can’t get better if everyone is saying your product is good, especially when the product itself is lackluster and struggles to hold a consistent audience.

    • @lishathorne
      @lishathorne 4 года назад +5

      TNT asked for 400k viewers and is getting much more. I agree with criticism because you need to try to be better all the time but he is not really doing that. I listen to his stuff cause I get a chuckle, but his hatred for Kenny will never let him see how good Omega can be since he wrestled a school girl early on for a payday. Does Corny really believe that Omega booked that match? He knows better but is old school upset Kenny did not protect kayfabe that Vince killed already. Gold dust wrestled in a diaper acting like a baby, he was under contract. That is how it works. That is also why spot fests are now a thing because we are all in on it these days and there is no ring psychology that will convince you its real. Jericho the biggest 'heel' gets the biggest pop. Hard to hate someone when you know its an act. Heels vs Babyfaces not really needed cause ... we are already in on it. Those days he yearns for ended when Vince came out and said it was fixed to save a dime. It died slow, but it died.

What Ross also fails to mention is that he's cashing those AEW checks, so his opinion of the AEW product is bought. Corny does the reviews his audience wants. And Ross is also incorrect that Corny just picks on AEW. Corny blisters WWE and NXT just as much as AEW when they do "Stoopid" stuff too.
    Yes, the business always has to evolve and change with the times, doesn't mean it has to be treated like a joke by the people doing it. Anyone who listens to Corny knows he was rooting for AEW at the beginning, that despite TK hiring Twinkle Toes McFingerbang and the Young F***s Corny wanted AEW to do well. Cornette is an old school type of guy, he deeply loves his style of wrestling and the wrestling business. And why i don't agree with everything he says he makes some good points on the faults of AEW, the sheer amount of dives and high risk spots, it taking ages to do a dive, no clear heels or faces making it hard to understand whats going, sloppy build up to story lines, the promos being off by some, not selling after a high impact move, cold tags, an endless amount of near falls. AEW comes across as kids play wrestling because they remember these effective spots from when they watched it but they don't have the knowledge and patience to get the build up correct so it tends to fall flat.

She's a beautiful woman no doubt, but can't talk, wrestle, or act. It all just comes across as a vanity project.
      Now, backstage they've got Dean Malenko, Jim Ross, Arn Anderson, Medusa, Taz, and a bunch of people who know what the hell they're doing, but are basically either just onscreen characters or are just doing what?

As they disenfranchise older fans and younger/newer fans never come into existence those ratings will crash. The TV deals will become weaker and they’ll start wondering why. Right now gambling is being allowed into sports as a means of drawing and keeping fans interested who are losing interest. The once unthinkable right? But that vein will tap out one day. Attendance and ratings are down and it’s not because of covid or politics. They soak us for every penny if we go. They present us with a weak product on tv. ESPN and the like are horrible at broadcasting clean, concise games. We spend half the game seeing shots of the booth or the crowd or graphics or ads telling us to tune in to what we’re already watching. No you are right it’s making a fortune. There isn't any good wrestling program anymore. There are bits of good stuff, bits of bad stuff and stuff that is so bad it boggles the mind. AEW is ok, as far as a modern wrestling promotion goes. It is better than WWE because it is obviously less heavily scripted and tightly controlled. WWE programming is like watching cult indoctrination. Not the fans, but the wrestlers. Vince McMahon and his team of writers might as well have his hand up their asses, moving their mouths. Its alien, inhuman and weird. AEW is less scripted, but sometimes it really leaves a lot to be desired. That is wrestling in 2020.
      On a side note, sometimes Cornette just pisses me off, because a lot of Smoky Mountain Wrestling was like the worst of Memphis wrestling dogshit! ECW was a more traditional character driven wrestling based promotion than Smoky Mt, even with all of the gratuitous unnecessary garbage wrestling, that its funny how much Cornette hated it. Cornette is about as much for traditional styled NWA wrestling as he is a real liberal. He's just an old working carnie at heart. Cornie just seems to really pick and choose what he hates arbitrarily, or whether or not he is involved in it at the time.
