Thank you! I've fallen into the stage manager position for our current show, as our group finally has a stage to work on. Real lights! Real sound! Real curtains! It's very exciting, and I'm terrified. XD

Another great video! I'm so happy you're back to posting regular content ❤️
I'm a young stage manager in training about to start my SM masters degree in the UK (I'm half excited half terrified lol) and watching your videos has helped me so much!

Hi! I'm currently going into my 3rd year of an SM and Tech theatre degree in the UK. In the UK the roles differ from the USA for example we have a Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager. The Stage Manager does a lot of the roles that Nick mentioned the PSM does and the SM in the UK is the most senior Stage Management role. The DSM or Deputy Stage Manager is the one who is always in rehearsals and 'calls' the show once it's up, they make rehearsal and show reports etc. The ASM is the assistant to the SM when the shows starts and they help run wings etc. But in most cases where there's no props department (which is common) the ASM will prop the whole show :) So yeah things do work a little differently over here and what I've said is SUPER simplified but you'll find out more once you start your course! Good luck! (This channel saved my life before starting uni back in 2018)
Also something important to remember (as Nick said) - it depends on the company. Sometimes companies will merge roles.

Amazing! Also, as Helen says below, know that my videos come from my experience in the US...while at its root, theatre is the same anywhere in the world, there are some things that need a little "translating" for you Brits (really anyone not in the US). I'm excited for your journey, and remember to just keep an open mind for everything that comes your way!

Helen, I love this...Such a great example of how things differ not just theatre to theatre, but country to country! Similar structure, but different names...That age old joke that we both speak english, but need a translator ;) I do really enjoy seeing how other theatres, especially in other countries work. Thank you for sharing this!
