Fascinating stuff. As a West ham fan I know I'm supposed to hate millwall, but I have to respect them. A proper club who keep it real. A dying breed nowadays.

From a West Ham fan - Always had a soft spot for Millwall having been brought up in Peckham. I was a football photographer and writer for 10 years and did an article on the old Den, which appeared in the South London Press. Much respect to you all.

Dan excellent video enjoyed, i am in my late seventies. In my school days lived in the last terraced house in Zampa Road
Started going with all my relatives when I was 6 years old ,earlier players I saw Finlayson and Brewer goalies Jardin, Fisher
Short, bowler, Neary, Morgan stobart, hurrel Jonny Johnson and many more great days at the old den

I lived down Mercury Way back in the day. When he Old Den was still there. 1991. Around then. All scrapyards and under the arches mechanics etc. Apart from all the new flats i imagine its still the same. Been in all the boozers round there. And the Five Bells. Nelson etc. Joined the Army in 1991 and ive never been back. I remember Portsmouth bringing a massive firm down around 90/91. Fighting all day. pubs being smashed up. I see them surrounded by police later in the day i swear there must have been 500 hundred handed. Im London born and bred , Lambeth and strictly speaking should be Palace but im Brighton because my old man lived there and used to take me to the old Goldstone Ground. Always had a good record at Millwall. On the pitch anyway?

Thanks for this fascinating Documentary. My first game was on 3rd September 1962 when we beat Hull City 5/1 and I missed 6 Home games between 1963 and 1993 when we made the change. I fully watched them at both ends of The Old Den and then along the side ,I hate the inflexibility of staying in one place now and not being able to stand, which everyone knows adds to the atmosphere. Also, The 1960s was THE DOCKERS after a morning shift at The Docks so no surprise they created this intimidating atmosphere and we broke the record with 59 Home games UNDEFEATED.. We were on top of the pitch on ALL 4 sides there and no banks of empty seats at the Away End Lower Tier which looks awful.

I first went to the Den to see my SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY play in the fa cup in 1991 I remember it ended 4-4 from the steel city of Sheffield & Yorkshires most successful football club Sheffield Wednesday
Birthplace of football & what a Boxing 🥊 city Sheffield is!
Millwall is a great away day I was there 2 weeks ago at the new den! It was a must win game for us OWLS 👍

So millwall played all over the isle of dogs , 3 different grounds. I oniy thought they played over the mudchute park , a.k.a
millwall park. In the very early days the wall won the east end senior cup 3 times, no wonder whu hate them lol. I wonder if them trophys still sit on there trophy cabinet today or have they rusted away. They not won much since but the fans are real loyal still respect for that.

@ 8-36....sadly bombed but that was an impressive main stand for that time.
Notice how it is set well back from the pitch and raised to a good height so you get a good
aerial view of the pitch....and also a really good bank of terracing with crush barriers in front
of it. That section was replaced with just a modest seated main stand...but sadly no paddock.

Don't know why Dan included that Photo, it's certainly not the Den. It's actually Brammal Lane. While the Den was Bombed, the Main stand was undamaged, but later burned to the ground after a London Senior Cup Final between Tooting and Dulwich on the 26th April 1943

Players? Most talented? Keith Weller who like Teddy Sheringham played for England. They would be the Top 2. Keeper? BRYAN KING. Defender: Barry Kitchener who was Millwall. The main character was Harry Cripps and only Terry Hurlock has come close to whipping up the crowd. Forwards Teddy and Cas, Neil Harris, Possee. Other stars like Tim Cahill but let's be honest, most Millwall strikers are off once they show potential like Morison or Chris Armstrong or Weller or Gordon Hill to Man United who was the best winger along with Jimmy Carter and Anton Otulakowski. . Endless memories of older games, not many outstanding in the 30 years at The "New" Den but now a season ticket holder again.
