Really glad you appericate this video because it was one i reallly wanted to make to teach the wider alien community about the alien galaxy and how it functions. the map comes with a purchase of free legues Alien: The Role Playing game
@@ProjectACHERON it was super fascinating I am genuinely enjoying your deep dives into the politics and history within the wider lore of the ALIENverse :)
A 3D map would be more informative. With systems belonging to different factions could be sandwiched on top of each other and not just on a flat plane. Beside that it's great that the Alien universe is getting fleshed out 😄
The maps are from the Alien RPG book. It would be quite the undertaking for a content creator to develop an accurate map. But I agree the book is absolutely what the Alien franchise needed
In the normal, sublight Einsteinian universe, the faster a person goes then time slows down for the person; this has been proven with atomic clocks on planes. In the normal universe, nothing can go faster than light. Traveling FTL requires entering into another dimension, with its own physics which allows FTL travel. In the Alien universe, FTL space will drive an awake human to go insane. Thus, hyperspace travel is done with humans in hypersleep and unconscious. Thus, a limited amount of consumables is on a ship; thus the time pressure in ALIEN ( the crew can’t go into hyperspace and make progress on their trip home unless they can go into hyper sleep; in ALIEN Lambert states they are at Zeta II Reticula which is 39 light years from Earth; halfway between Earth and Thedus.). Also, in hyperspace, time passes quicker aboard ship than in the rest of the universe as is stated in published Aliens reference materials. Thus, if a ship takes eight months to make a journey through hyperspace as measured by the normal universe, about 200 years passes aboard ship. This is another reason for the crew to go into hypersleep, and why ships have rugged and clunky tech ( the ship machinery and computers have to put up with being able to be survive hundreds of years of subjective ship time while in hyperspace).
In the normal universe, nothing goes faster than light and the faster you go time slows down for the traveler. If you could get close to light speed, you could live to cross the entire galaxy. This has been proved with clocks on planes. However, this is the physics of the normal, or sublight, universe. In Aliens published reference manuals, it is stated that in faster than light travel, in hyperspace, time on board speeds up ( it is another dimension, with its own physics). Thus, from the normal universe point of view, it may take 16 months for a ship to go from Thedus to Earth ( about 78 light years since in Alien, the Nostromo is at Zeta Reticula II which is 39 light years away and Lambert states they are only halfway home with eight months to go). However, hundreds of years of time will have passed aboard ship as it travels FTL through hyperspace.
Using the distance from Earth to Zeta Reticuli as a 39.17 ly benchmark, Prometheus took two years, Nostromo would have taken 10 months, and help from Earth would take 17 days in "Aliens". Sulaco's speed converts to Warp 9.4, just as a comparison.
If any of you find yourself on an alien world, keep your helmet on before you poke the unidentified black fungus that is a inch from your face. Trust me
Haha yes it certainly seems like humanity will find it hard to draw itself limits considering the vast expanse of the milky way galaxy. Spice will be the least of their worries!
on another of these videos there was speculation about whether the space jockeys were different from the engineers. but here's a thought a species that creates other creatures was once intimidated by space travel and thus engineered some special individuals to do that job. and so the space jockey is an engineer just a specially bioengineered one, specially modified to survive in space. made giant for zero G grafted into the ships controls and genetically altered to live longer negating the need for hyper sleep or better yet the whole pilots chamber is a hyper sleep capsule either way just cause they look so different doesn't necessarily mean they are different species

I wonder if the vast distances and the fact that it seems even the engineers do not have ftl that can cross the galaxy relatively quick is why their tech is bio organic.. it can regenerate rather than needing to repair
Time for my comment. I think I speak for all the fans when I say. Dark descent, was the best Aliens game made to this date. And Fireteam is just as good. So to further the franchise we really need to include some of these, other factions. If were to preserve our favorite universe, we've all got to keep things, streamlined and what i mean by this is AVP, or Engineers, or this correlation of blade runner and Aliens. We need to have more structure in this story telling, and really include and define the universe.
Great job. Though I'm not sure how cannon any of this is since it's never been mentioned in the movies, though it'd be nice if it were more fleshed out if we ever get another cinematic installment. Also, I'd really like to know what type of ftl ships use, since we've only ever seen them traveling at sublight speeds.

I always wondered how many planets humanity colonized since I saw Prometheus.i always wondered if that engineer made of planet could he actually destroy humanity and get to earth.
The funny thing about that is that the star maps the Engineer ship had haven't been updated in 2,000 years. This presents the possibility that he sets course for Earth, and gets there to find empty space because it moved. D'oh!
Further to *Skeptical Guardsman's* comment. I would have liked some frame of reference for the worlds featured in the Aliens Universe indicated on this star chart. It took me a while (with my ageing eyesight) to locate ZETA 2 RETICULI [location of LV426/Acheron] in the Trailward sector of the chart. But where the OREGI B system is located is still a mystery. The position where the Nostromo's shuttle - 'Narcissus' was finally located should have been plotted along with all other relevant locations - in EASY to READ font. . So generally not impressed as the political machinations (sovereignties, territories and borders) of humans is and always will be irrelevant.
Why aren’t we at least trying to build a Nostromos with accompanying oil refinery? I looked at the plans , fuel and tech , I know the earth is flat and waters above are a super high viscosity fluid, I think it would be a wise puddle jumper. If earth gravity is like a capacitor it should make it to the dome and maybe through to the super fluid. It’s a very good design to start from I think there are a lot of truth drops in the movies , such as it’s water hyper drive and potassium based fuel , towing a lifetime worth of Hygrocarbons is also a good idea.
