I 'm almost sure it will get to the final

Yas, Serbia, Montenegro and Slovenia appreciation tier list !!! But yeah I might disagree with a few rankings but I love that you provide a clear rationale for each entry and not insult the artists or just slap them with "generic" or "ballad" label like tons of other tier list is doing...
As always you are very insightful. It's gonna be really interesring thia year....
That was really a very interresting video, with a lot of details and analyzes, loved it! Also thank you so much from Serbia for those nices words, i'm glad you're enjoying our song!
Many of these songs might be better than others on the live stage. For example, Michael Ben David, despite having a song that's hated, can pull the vocals off a lot better than many of the singers, as seen in Israel Calling. However, by the time of Eurovision, some of the singers that were having problems singing live will be better due to constant practice. I'm finding some of the higher tempo catchier songs are having singers that right now are struggling live. Vocals CAN save a song live. _My top 3:_ 3) *United Kingdom* - Don't get why people rank this so low in the UK. Very good vocals, the best we've had in a while and the song isn't necessarily 'safe' as it launches Sam's vocals into new places. There's honestly SO much potential this year and it may be our best entry in a while. Finally an entry I am proud of. Deserves at least the top 10. 2) *Norway* - The catchy song alongside clever writing and interesting and varied visuals keeps you engaged throughout the whole song. as opposed to many other songs that get boring halfway through. Subwoolfer are also ICONIC in the way they respond to the fandom and certain questions when interviewed. Safe to say, they deserve those trillions of views they have in the rest of the universe. 1) *Portugal* - A BEAUTIFUL, touching tribute to Maro's grandfather. She didn't need to do this, but went out of her way to tell the world how much it means to her now he's gone. The message is universal and can be used on a variety of different contexts since she only sings 'now you're gone'. The harmonies are AMAZING. The only song this year that made me cry...TWICE!!
Brividi was the only song this year that completely stunned me during first listen, I was just sitting there with my eyes wide open and with 'omg' on my face.
I'm an indie rock/melancholic kind of soul and my taste is usually in 'moll'. 1) Portugal; Gets better with every listen,- hypnotic bohemia 2) Italy; Moving and different 3) Poland; Vocals & melody = Class act 4) Greece; Her singing style and the verses 5) Sweden; Her stage presence a la 'shabby chic' adds to it for me. I also like Georgia, the disco guys (You are so right! My daughter, who is a musician, said the same), Netherlands, Serbia, Finland (live vocals need to improve but I like Rasmus), Cyprus, Estonia. Oddly, Iceland has a relaxing, hypnotic vibe to it which I enjoy (Maybe because a few elements remind me of a much better song; "Waiting around to die" by Be Good Tanyas) Same with Portugal, but their song is a seemingly simple, bohemian masterpiece. List can change when I see each act live in May.
I know it's just a silly song contest but I really do get annoyed with the constant damning of the Icelandic song with faint praise or whatever. It isn't country like the Be Good Tanyas, that indie style song sounds weak. And the Portuguese song is definitely chill, it's supposed to be sad but doesn't sound it particularly. The Icelandic song arguably has more emotion that the Portuguese one and has a great melody. Thank goodness I don't think like most.
I'm glad to hear your opinions and ranking. Your explanation is a gem especially for me who is just a listener, not a trained musician. My personal top 7 is Slovenia (I can't get it out of my head even now. The music is really really good.), Poland, UK, Georgia, France, Montenegro, Greece.
Saudade saudade 🇵🇹. This is a confirmation (for a few) and the greatest discovery of recent times (for an overwhelming majority of people) of a beautiful, magical musical universe full of surprising connections, a universe that is called MARO.
1 Italy, 2 Greece, 3Georgia, 4 Slovenia, 5 Portugal…i like Georgia is crazy ahah, Poland is nice but the song could have been performed better in my opinion. I had underestimated Italy initially, perhaps because it wasn't the kind of song that usually strikes me, but listening to it several times I changed my mind ..
Really nice that you appreciate Georgia and Slovenia, those songs are extremely underrated. I’m obsessed with LOCK ME DOWN!… In my top 5. Love, Raul from 🇪🇸
I am so proud to see Amanda Tenfjord do so well for Greece! I knew her when I was younger, and she's currently studying medicine in Trondheim :D The choir you mentioned was actually the med-student choir of her uni!
Congratulations for your top notch ranking, I fully agree with you although Montenegro may not pull it out live as good as in the studio version. Thank you for the 3rd place for Portugal and especially for giving Slovenia the recognition their song deserves... I cannot stop listening to that track, the fusion between jazz disco and soft rock is so good and reminds me of something Steely Dan could have done.
Great top!!! And how you explained it, blow me away. Excellent!!! I pay more attention in slovenia and greece. They are not my best but i think there are high quality in both. Also, Slovenia reminds me a jazzy but energetic anime opening. And my top 10 are: Lithuania (tasteful song and kinda scary too) , Ukraine (modern ethnic mix doing excellent), Albania (same as ukraine with one of the best female vocalist), France, Sweden, Serbia, Montenegro!!, Portugal. The final 2 are between uk, swizerland, italy, latvia (o. O).
Thank you for your video! I LOVE the way you talk about music, how you pay attention to all of the details and how professional you are. It's always a pleasure watching you.
I'm so happy I discovered you online last month, Rachel. You make me hear and discover music from a completely new perspective. Your analysis are eye-opening and I'm so grateful for what you're doing. Amazing job! For the first time ever I'm considering taking part in televoting. I'd vote for Serbia. I also love Italy and Portugal and would be fine with Greece winning. But, surprisingly, I dislike Sweden quite a lot, there's something annoying to it, maybe cheap sentimental lyrics? Greetings from Slovenia.
My friend, Borut, I agree with you on everything and especially on the Swedish entry. I do not like it either, actually I can not stand it. Everyone seems to like this song and the singer and I just keep on wondering...:"WHY?"🤔
Oh my god! I Just listened to the live performance of "Die Together" that you talked about here and that was sublime! My favourite this year is Serbia and Italy but I wouldn't mind if Portugal or Georgia won either.
I just saw the acoustic version of Amanda Tenfjord's. It's so beautiful! Thanks for mentioning it! Can't wait to see The Rasmus tho. Didn't like it much at first but I really like it now.
You are becoming probably and very soon my favorite ESC blogger. Very deep, thoughtful, pedagogical and entertaining at the same time. Develop the visuals and editing and you gonna rule. Maybe some singing and playing from yourself to examplify your analysis could level it all even higher. Congrats and thanks on behalf of Portugal. We're really proud for our girl. ThePeaceAround is truly a winner! Obrigado! Rui Carreteiro
I don't know if being a classical musician makes it special....but being a classical singing teacher myself, and a pianist Italy made me cry too at the fist listen and I'm so fond of Slovenia. There is of course a few differences based I think on personal tastes bur overall I mostly agree with you. I can't wait for the contest. Best regards from France.
So you'd basically say that Circles goes around in circles and doesn't test any limits? :P Also yes, I love Disko too - also my 5th currently! (Also Italy and Portugal, my 1st and 6th) On the other hand, I can't stand Greece's lyrics. Amanda sings about having relationship troubles and how they're close to giving up on each other, and then says "if we die together now (suicide? why/how else would they die together right at that moment?) we'll still be together forever and I won't lose you to someone else". Then there's also "I love you, say that you love me too; that's the only way we'll get out of this hell we made," which sounds a little too close to "Say what I want to hear, otherwise I'll be forced to do something we'll both regret". To me, it sounds depressing, creepy and somewhat deranged.
My limits get tested with that song lol. I guess with Greece you're reading into the lyrics in an absolute way but I see it as a dying relationship? Idk, it is a bit dark I guess but I'm a depressed soul so kind of like that music haha. Glad Slovenia is up there for you as well!
Happy to see Maro 🇵🇹 in your top three, although I was pretty much expecting it after your reaction. Really like Greece, too. Apart from the music itself, I believe Ukraine is the favourite for this year 🇺🇦.
I really don't like Halo or Slo Mo but it's really interesting to hear your opinions and deconstructions. I love Georgia and I'm glad you lend that validity.
I agree with your top 5, such good songs. As a Slovene I can't be objective, but I agree that the Slovene song is very well made, especially because they are so young, and it's very nice that you noticed a good musical creation.
Well said. I love Greece this year. We have similar top 10 excluding Slovenia and montenegro. I'm going to listen to Slovenia again just to see if I underrated this entry.
Ethnomusicologist here. Brividi has a ton of potential, but what made me not like it as much as everyone else has is the autotune. If the singers aren't able to deliver without it live, it's going to fall apart. My 12 points this year went to Greece, since Amanda can definitely hold her own without prerecorded vocals. My 10 points went to Serbia - Konstrakta constructed an amazing song (pun intended). 8 points of mine went to Portugal. They're on a roll regarding good songs.
That is very cool, I really enjoyed ethnomusicology when I studied it in some classes :) I think Brividi live is really good actually, they can both sing so well. The auto tune in the track is more of a stylistic choice because Mahmood’s discography is packed with it. You should check out Mahmood on Instagram live singing - outstanding stuff :) If Greece wins the whole thing, I will be so happy. She deserves it
@@ThePeaceAround I hope Greece wins as well. I personally prefer singers who sing with their real voice, no enhancements whatsoever, and there's something particularly pure and haunting in Amanda's voice. Also, I'm glad you enjoyed ethnomusicology!
There's a plodding piano through most of it as well. I think the Serbian song is easily the best of those you mention, and likely the most daring pick too.
Brividi was an ESC classic from the first time I heard it, although my personal favourite is Portugal which still makes me cry. Greece leaves me cold though. Standout song and potential winner - Konstrakta.
Me, on the other hand, I like Mahmoud very much, but this song doesn't touch me at all. But I fully agree with you on Serbia, the dark horse of ESC 2022
Thank you very much for sharing your top 40 accompanied by your musical thoughts and comments! I would like to share with you my top 10: 1) Serbia 2)Spain 3)France 4)Czech Republic 5)Poland 6)Estonia 7) Slovenia 8)the Netherlands 9)Romania 10)Belgium/Switzerland (I actually can not decide between these two)😬
🤩Hands down, you're my favourite eurovision content creator ever! Finally someone highlighted the high quality of Georgia's and especially Slovenia's composition! Love that you always analyse in depth the musical structure of each track. As a musician myself I'm glad there's a chanel giving emphasis on those elements, cause it's really hard to find content like this in the community... 💙 Anyway, here's mine Top10! (I did not include Greece cause it's my home country, but I can say that it's the first time that our entry moves me that much...) 1 🇮🇹 ITALY 2 🇵🇹 PORTUGAL 3 🇷🇸 SERBIA 4 🇺🇦 UKRAINE 5 🇫🇮 FINLAND 6 🇬🇧 UNITED KINGDOM 7 🇳🇱 NETHERLANDS 8 🇸🇮 SLOVENIA 9 🇸🇪 SWEDEN 10 🇫🇷 FRANCE 😊Love that we have a lot of diversity this year and lots of Tops differ from each other!

I definitely appreciate your analyses. I would like to offer a production suggestion for your videos. I frequently watch these type of Eurovision videos while I'm cooking and baking. And sometimes there are things going on in the kitchen and I miss bits - including the country you're talking about. You briefly show the country name but I would like to suggest displaying the country name on screen the entire time you're speaking about the country. That's all. Please keep bringing your thoughtfulness. Best regards.
In Moldovan (Romanian): Tren=Train Trenuleț= Little Train (it adds the diminutive, like "Trainlet" in English ) Trenulețul = The Little Train (it adds the definite article)
Saudade Saudade is possibly the first song of the "Lofi" style to compete in Eurovision... While other songs are predictable in the concept of the contest, with great interpretations of course, but full of fireworks, lots of screams and even in some of them, the sexualization in the lyrics as in the presentations is more evident than the quality of the music itself... Maro... proposes the opposite... It is introspective and minimalist, appealing to the most basic and primordial human emotions... It takes us to the roots of feelings, be it sadness, joy, grief, miss, loss, etc... In a word... .. Saudade!
Can we... just take a moment to speak about how gorgeous is Rachel in this video? Ok, now, apart from that... I can see how Moldova is rising in Rachel's rankings, because started with a 5 in her previous review, and now they have a 5.8... and that's not all, in 4:48 while reviewing Bulgaria's song, she said "hey ho, let's go!" so, she clearly is up in Moldovan train that will reach the finals 😂😂
And for the second year in a row, my Sanremo runner-up is your Eurovision winner 😎♥️ (mine too by the way... and no matter if I'm biased). I surely would've died twice to see Irama sing at PalaOlimpico, though... Thank you so much from 🇮🇹 , dear.
BRAVO!👏👏👏👏I REMEMBER YOUR REACTION AND WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT THE SONG AND HOW YOU ANALIZED IT…YOU KNOW WHAT IS THE TRUTH MUSIC THE QUALITY THE BEAUTY THE EMOTIONS…GO ITALY AND WIN AGAIN!!!
I like your comments and reactions, you have really knowledge of music and You can justify your opinion very well and I am even I am59years old, often of the same mind.
I love your insightful videos! My personal top are: 1. Sweden. 2. Italy. 3. Spain 4. Greece. 5. Poland. 6. The Netherlands. 7. France (live needs to improve though). 8. Australia 9. Norway 10. The UK
Thanks for your opinions and comments - really appreciate it! Just very surprised that the UK isn't higher up on your list. Easily top 10 for me! Similarly, Ukraine. I can understand France a bit because while I REALLY like the audio version (it's on my 5h place, actually), I also REALLY hope they work on their live performance. This could easily flop, imo. Similar story with "Halo". While it has the potential to be a top 10 song, it can totally flop as well. Ok, so here's my top 25 (basically who I think will qualify for the Grand Final...for now lol): 25) Lithuania (I hope and think she will qualify, but someone had to be last, sorry...) 24) Latvia (The song itself is...yeah I don't know, but they are such PERFORMERS!) 23) Germany 22) Belgium 21) North Macedonia 20) Norway 19) Slovenia (They're so underrated!) 18) Estonia (This isn't bad and he sings well, but it has also such a country vibe and I'm not a fan of country music...) 17) Azerbaijan (I think this song is pretty average for the most part, except towards the end. And this guy has a great voice! This is not gonna do bad!) 16) Austrialia (I had this a lot lower at first because I don't actually like the song itself very much, but I simply cannot because Sheldon's voice needs to be appreciated!) 15) Finland 14) The Netherlands 13) Cyprus 12) Spain (While I appreciate Chanel's multi-skills, it just doesn't quite make it into my top 10) 11) Austria (IF they can pull this off live! If not, I could see Denmark making it, but a bit lower top 20) 10) Portugal (Simply beautiful) 9) Ukraine (not the biggest fan of the vocals, but I like the rap and dance part) 8) UK (One of the best voices!) 7) Albania (Good voice and VIBES) 6) Sweden (quite average song, LOVE her voice!) 5) France (IF they work on their live performance and if it'll be almost as good as the audio version! Otherwise barely top 20) 4) Greece (goosebumps at the beginning, then quite nice...) 3) Poland (I love this song from the beginning to the end, GREAT VOCALS; just the lyrics are a bit average...) 2) Serbia (unIQe - I LOVE it!) 1) Italy (Goosebumps all the time!)
Thanks from Italy! Love hearing reviews from people who know what they are talking about. I would like to know what you think about the new 3 minutes version . I still have to understand if I like it more or less than the original, but I definitely need to hear it live, I believe and hope it will sound better than the studio version
This is the first time my own country is my favourite. Cornelia is a queen and just delivers! The Semi-final version, which according to me is the best version out right now, comes with great vocals. Sadly in the final her vocals was a bit off because she turned 30 a few days before and she had a little party where you obviously talk and scream a lot. But the high note in her winning performance! Wtf? It's so good and I was so happy when she won so I didn't pay attention to that in the live show but I was totally blown away when I heard it after! The song is great as well and I kinda cry a little bit everytime I hear it. Probably because I know a bit of the back story of it. So right now Cornelia is my number 1. After there I have (no particular order) Austria, Spain, Albania and Finland. Love from Sweden
Needless to say I'm delighted to see Konstrakta in your top ten since I'm Serbian, but seeing Slovenia there, the most underrated song of the year... I'm over the moon. ♥️ My top 5 (Serbia excluded): 1. The Netherlands 2. Portugal 3. Italy 4. Poland 5. Slovenia
🇨🇾 Thank you for this video: I really appreciate it because its important the opinion of a professional! 🙏 My top ten is: 1 Spain 🇪🇸 2 Ukraine 🇺🇦 3 Romania 🇷🇴 4 Poland 🇵🇱 5 Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 6 Greece 🇬🇷 7 Chezh Republic 🇨🇿 8 United Kingdom 🇬🇧 9 The Netherlands 🇳🇱 10 Australia 🇦🇺 I am not including my country! ☺️
Hi ya Rachel as your beautiful and intelligent and you know all about Eurovision. Where would I find out about putting a song forward to the individual country's TV stations. David UK.
Hey! I don't know if you watched all Sanremo or Sanremo in general but what did you think about the Irama's song? "Ovunque sarai" I really liked it maybe it's better than brividi. I don't know. What's your opinion?
I‘m really happy to see Slovenia, Poland and Finland so high in your top. Slovenia is my 4th and I always felt like I was the only one who loves this song. Finland and Poland kinda share the first place in my top because I can‘t decide which one I love more 😂 They are complete opposites but yet both so good.
I'm like 5 songs in.. You haven't trashed Georgia, Iceland, Slovenia, San Marino, Switzerland, Moldova, Portugal, etc... Have you had a recent blow to the head?
Honestly I'm musician and I don't understand what Spain has to do for win at last 🙁 creo que se le valora siempre por debajo lleve lo que lleve a eurovision y se convierte en algo cansino ya ... espero que este año se valore el esfuerzo y podamos ganar ya que llevamos 53 años sin llevarnos el trofeo...a big hug from Fuerteventura (Canary Islands 🇮🇨🇪🇸)❤️

I am so proud to see Amanda Tenfjord do so well for Greece! I knew her when I was younger, and she's currently studying medicine in Trondheim :D The choir you mentioned was actually the med-student choir of her uni!
Can I just say, love your reviews, and you're such a beautiful, kind and well spoken person. Love watching you do your thing!
This year, my favorite entry is Portugal.
Thank you for your warm comments. Love from Lisboa. ❤️

Finally someone apreciattes slovenian and Serbia entry
@@triadafillos1 Hahaha, thank you. A good question - to be explored. If you find the answer, let me know, I'll be interested.
@@borutpetrovic7203 😂🤣hmm...🤔some expect Sweden even to win😱😬
@@triadafillos1 I guess they're even in the majority. We can only hope it won't happen, but we're just a tiny minority.
@@borutpetrovic7203 I know, we are not that many...🙄
Italy no1 yeeeeees! And Slovenia has a really great song, I really like it
Oh my god! I Just listened to the live performance of "Die Together" that you talked about here and that was sublime! My favourite this year is Serbia and Italy but I wouldn't mind if Portugal or Georgia won either.
Thnx for your post!
My top 10:
1 The Netherlands 2 Greece 3 Italy 4 Poland 5 Spain 6 Tjech Rep 7 Albania 8 Estonia 9 Cyprus 10 Portugal
If Brividi wins l'll be happy for You as Well. The Song and its interpretation are simply fenomenal.
Poland good luck
So you'd basically say that Circles goes around in circles and doesn't test any limits? :P
Also yes, I love Disko too - also my 5th currently! (Also Italy and Portugal, my 1st and 6th)
On the other hand, I can't stand Greece's lyrics.
Thank you so much Rachele ❤

I really don't like Halo or Slo Mo but it's really interesting to hear your opinions and deconstructions. I love Georgia and I'm glad you lend that validity.
Thank youuu for appreciating disko
Spain is my absolute favorite.
I agree with your top 5, such good songs. As a Slovene I can't be objective, but I agree that the Slovene song is very well made, especially because they are so young, and it's very nice that you noticed a good musical creation.
Why is it so hard for some places to be objective, like Italians, Greeks or others (mostly probably towards the eastern side)?
Portugal love.
Well said. I love Greece this year. We have similar top 10 excluding Slovenia and montenegro. I'm going to listen to Slovenia again just to see if I underrated this entry.
and…did you?
Thank you so much . Sending my love from Athens, Greece 💙🤍
That is very cool, I really enjoyed ethnomusicology when I studied it in some classes :)
I think Brividi live is really good actually, they can both sing so well. The auto tune in the track is more of a stylistic choice because Mahmood’s discography is packed with it. You should check out Mahmood on Instagram live singing - outstanding stuff :)
If Greece wins the whole thing, I will be so happy.
🇷🇸thankk you
There's a plodding piano through most of it as well.

@@triadafillos1 That is fine. 👍

Anyway, here's mine Top10! (I did not include Greece cause it's my home country, but I can say that it's the first time that our entry moves me that much...)

We would love to see you perform Saudade Saudade on the guitar! Please show us when you'll figure it out!
In Moldovan (Romanian):
Tren=Train
Trenuleț= Little Train (it adds the diminutive, like "Trainlet" in English )
Trenulețul = The Little Train (it adds the definite article)
Thank you from Italy
Thx for Greece 🇬🇷🙃♥️ !!!
Acknowledge the Disko supremacy people! ☝🏻
YESSSS
And for the second year in a row, my Sanremo runner-up is your Eurovision winner 😎♥️ (mine too by the way... and no matter if I'm biased). I surely would've died twice to see Irama sing at PalaOlimpico, though...
Thank you so much from 🇮🇹 , dear.

8. Australia
9. Norway
10. The UK
My favorite in order, Greece, Portugal, Italy..greets from the USA ❤️
Flops
Thanks for your opinions and comments - really appreciate it!
Just very surprised that the UK isn't higher up on your list. Easily top 10 for me! Similarly, Ukraine. I can understand France a bit because while I REALLY like the audio version (it's on my 5h place, actually), I also REALLY hope they work on their live performance. This could easily flop, imo. Similar story with "Halo". While it has the potential to be a top 10 song, it can totally flop as well.
Ok, so here's my top 25 (basically who I think will qualify for the Grand Final...for now lol):
25) Lithuania (I hope and think she will qualify, but someone had to be last, sorry...)
24) Latvia (The song itself is...yeah I don't know, but they are such PERFORMERS!)
23) Germany
22) Belgium
21) North Macedonia
20) Norway
19) Slovenia (They're so underrated!)
18) Estonia (This isn't bad and he sings well, but it has also such a country vibe and I'm not a fan of country music...)
17) Azerbaijan (I think this song is pretty average for the most part, except towards the end. And this guy has a great voice! This is not gonna do bad!)
16) Austrialia (I had this a lot lower at first because I don't actually like the song itself very much, but I simply cannot because Sheldon's voice needs to be appreciated!)
15) Finland
14) The Netherlands
13) Cyprus
12) Spain (While I appreciate Chanel's multi-skills, it just doesn't quite make it into my top 10)
11) Austria (IF they can pull this off live! If not, I could see Denmark making it, but a bit lower top 20)
10) Portugal (Simply beautiful)
9) Ukraine (not the biggest fan of the vocals, but I like the rap and dance part)
8) UK (One of the best voices!)
7) Albania (Good voice and VIBES)
6) Sweden (quite average song, LOVE her voice!)
5) France (IF they work on their live performance and if it'll be almost as good as the audio version! Otherwise barely top 20)
4) Greece (goosebumps at the beginning, then quite nice...)
3) Poland (I love this song from the beginning to the end, GREAT VOCALS; just the lyrics are a bit average...)
2) Serbia (unIQe - I LOVE it!)
1) Italy (Goosebumps all the time!)
thankk you🇷🇸
Thank you from Greece!

Hi ya Rachel as your beautiful and intelligent and you know all about Eurovision. Where would I find out about putting a song forward to the individual country's TV stations. David UK.
So nice to see Armenia and Georgia in your top 20 and Slovenia(so underrated!) in your top 5.
Hope to see Portugal on top3 🙂 We have similar ideas about the eurovision top 40. Very good analysis of the songs. You got a new follower here 😉

Will you do the same for the American Song Contest? I'm interested in your opinion about their songs. Love your videos!
Honestly I'm musician and I don't understand what Spain has to do for win at last 🙁 creo que se le valora siempre por debajo lleve lo que lleve a eurovision y se convierte en algo cansino ya ... espero que este año se valore el esfuerzo y podamos ganar ya que llevamos 53 años sin llevarnos el trofeo...a big hug from Fuerteventura (Canary Islands 🇮🇨🇪🇸)❤️
