  • Thurman Munson/Reggie Jackson Letter from my father dated August 5, 1979. Tragic death of Thurman Munson & Reggie Jackson) Mike Caldwell brawl.
Showing 79T cards of Thurman Munson, Reggie Jackson, Mike Caldwell, Lou Brock, Yaz, & Dennis Lamp.
Newspaper clipping of Lou Brock's 3000 hit from the International Herald Tribune, Wednesday, August 15, 1979 while I was in (West) Germany! Carl Yaz would get his 3000 hit also.
Stayed with my grandparents for a time in summer 1979 with my mother. My mother flew back & I stayed with grandfather's younger sister Tante Bertl. She owned a small soda factory n beer distributor. At age 16 me n a younger boy with Dietgar(Boss) would go out each day n deliver beer/soda to bars n people! This doesn't happen in the US!

Thanks for watching Mikes Mr. October & More.

Hi Mike! Great story about delivering beer in Germany! That must have been a great experience spending time over there as a kid. I remember the TV channels shutting off around midnight here too back in the late 70s. Unfortunate way to learn about Munson passing away! What a sad day that was, I remember it well.
    The newspaper articles
Are a lot of fun to read and look back on! The brawl you showed was against the Red Sox!
Awesome bunch of 79 Topps cards! Thanks for showing Yaz! 😁

@@davidm686 Thanks, I really appreciate it. That was a fun summer. My aunt had a small room downstairs where the old timers would sit all day n drink beer. I had a choice of soda or beer any time I wanted! There was a bakery directly across the street from my aunt & would buy such delicious German pastries!! Anyway, take care buddy.
