    Great video man as always. I've got a 1966 r69s, I've got a oil leak at the kickstarter seal. Is that something hat can be replaced easily and while the transmission is still on the bike? Thank you!

    I have a 2009 r1200r. I recently removed the right throttle body to fix the cable pulley, when i re-installed the TB, the bike idles rough, and when i either pull the throttle or actuate the pulley it chugs and the rpms go down.
    The bike ran perfectly fine before the pulley snapped. I had to idle it back home for 6 miles, switching from 1st, to 2nd, to 3rd, depending on how fast i was able to go down hills etc.
    i made sure everything was in place correctly when i installed it and both clamps were correct.
    I got the gs-911, and ran a scan on it, it popped some trouble codes, i cleared them and ran a igniter test, and valve sensor test. Both were good. At this point I’m a little lost but I’m determined to fix it myself. Does anyone have any recommendations on what i should check or haven’t checked yet? My next logical step seems to be replacing the spark plugs, but i don’t want to just throw money at something i may not have the entire picture of.

    Nice machine.
    Question: what’s an acceptable oil consumption on a bmw r80 gs?

    • @TheBMWGuy
      @TheBMWGuy  9 месяцев назад

      none of my bikes burn any oil, but some require to be topped off once or twice between oil changes.

      @@TheBMWGuy on how many kilometres of riding?
      I am wondering about it because I ride an r80 gs and I noticed a consumption of 200-250 ml of oil over 1000 km.
      On the user manual it’s written that consumption could be acceptable until 100 ml over 100 km. 😱

      @@dearchrists Interesting. The manual for my 2007 R1200RT mentions one liter for 1000 km's which is the same ratio as you mentioned. However, on a recent 2000 km trip, it used less then 500 milliliters. The bike has 53,000 km's on it. Just thought i'd throw it out there for consideration. Cheers!

      @@dearchristsA millilitre per kilometer IS acceptable maximum spec.
      Keyword: Maximum! Mine burns about a millitre a mile so I'm cool with that.
      Next oil change the dealership has switched to 30 weight from 15 weight oil so it'll be interesting to see how this affects oil consumption...
