Friends, I drive a 2015 Golf Gti. that is a segment above Polo Gti. These are really good cars.
But even the Golf Gti is cheaper than 25 Lakhs if you convert in to $'s. This car should be max 13-15 lakhs in India. Any more than that is a rip off.
Also, to those who are comparing buying bigger cars for same or less money than this car. ..you guys have no idea what these driver focused cars are about. These are not for luxury of the passengers, they are for the driver to feel like a race car driver everyday. There is no comparison so stop wasting time comparing Apples to Oranges.

I just love this car. Driving the Polo since 2012 and no problems!! Although GTI is beyond my affordability, but I can feel the responsiveness and power. Hope VW brings their Global models in India soon.
And there will be some morons comparing this car with the fortuner.......Grow up....know the cars.....
Shiladitya Ray We get it, You're a Petrol head. But Imagine buying a car that costs a fortune and still not being able to drive the car to even 1/4th of its potential. The car's suspension might be partially ready for Indian roads but the roads/Infrastructure are definitely not ready for this car. Plus there's a reason VW has come up with "only 99 cars to be sold" Concept/marketing Strategy, because they know they probably won't be reaching that target anyway.

i understand that people are complaining about the price , you should know its not a normal hatch back , its competing with the mini cooper and fiat 500 witch are priced similarly , and look at the package , i dont see it selling a lot in India , even though i see a lot of coopers around

But when I ask my head he said don't buy it and when I ask my heart he gave me list of other cars I can buy at this price point. After all my heart also made in India.

Bro, vw is not overpriced. Punto abarth cannot be compared with vw gti. Always keep in mind that vw has the highest build quality, and hence, more price.

Abrath punto will be dusted within 2500 RPM.For your kind information it's a competitor for Audi and min Cooper. Its completely Germany bulit not even a single part is manfactured in India.

It's d bst hot hatch India could ever get I know it's expensive but trust me when u buy & drive it u will not blame yourself for buying it.It's some hell of a fun driving it.If u are an enthusiast & have d budget just go for it , no other thoughts

This car is for car enthusiasts. And as she said in the end, no one buys this car with head, they but it with heart. That's what VW knows and is making the best use !

Why not bring the golf gti mk 7? It looks so much better and is sharper and is a legend in its own right.
There may be reasons such as sharing assembly line with polo and also Indian roads that can get golf polo. But given the price point, I'd be more than happy to spend a few more lakh and get Golf GTI or Golf R imported. It's just too good a car.
I think buyers should consider this option.

There's the problem, they are importing the cars, rather than having them manufactured here in India which would have made them a lot cheaper.
I have got one and its completely worth it if i really haven't had the car probably i would also have said the same as most of the people are saying in the comments section but after even 5 months of ownership it still amazes me every time i drive it. The most important thing for me as a customer for a exotic vehicle is not attention grabbing and the polo thus that ever so effortlessly its just blends in the traffic untill i smoke few suvs of course. in that way no one comes to waste my time by getting in front of my car clicking selfies and i get to go home fast and un noticed cool

So I actually own this car's bigger more powerful brother (golf gti performance) and trust me this car is much nicer than the Octavia or the Volvo, that dsg is smart, smooth and quick (like supercar quick) if you hold a gear past 4000 rpm and shift but you'll get a massive dsg fart. You fall in love with this car, it's soo much fun to drive and there are so many little features. It's a real shame India doesn't get the golf those are a lot nicer but the polo gti is a fantastic car
Ok. Yes, Golf is a superb car. But, this one here, I am not so sure about. Soft suspension on a performance car and the 16 inch alloys. Yes, 7 speed DSG would be awesome. Octavia AT also comes with a DSG, 6 speed

Hi I recently bought Honda city Top model with sunroof, unfortunatly i met with an accident 3 months back and the car is completely damage. so i am planning to buy a new car, I am very much confued because of the budget also i am keeping budget upto 12-13 lac. My family consist of 5 members so i am very much confused which car i should buy which fit in all aspect Spacious, stylish . (Suv, Sedan or Hatchback) I checked out few cars some of my liked cars are Volksvagen Polo GT, Honda city, etc should i wait for verna 2017 or if you can suggest which would be a complete package

the car is quite impressive though it misses some goodies. but considering price point from a enthusiast point of view that is a little too much. polo GT TSI, Abarth punto etc with required upgrades like better suspension and tyres will be much more rewarding than the GTI. One can easily go for an Octavia TSI, put all performance packages still better than GTI. the European GTI price when converted to INR will roughly around 18-20 lakhs onroad. I think VW India must have taken atleast the CKD route and then launch the vehicle, which can easily bang on Abarth Punto atleast. let us see how many are they going to sell. anyone who can afford this will go for Mini Cooper any day I think considering the better value and brand image it offers, at least we get original car from Mini, not the desi version.

maybe its just for the collectors with this price tag, but there has to be something more instead of replacing just an engine and 2 doors... i'd still prefer Fiat Abarth Punto over this.

But 25lakh for this Car is to much Ma'am, I'LL better go with Hundai Creta or Renault Captur.

I always loved the GTI but even Maruti’s Swift Sport still has the great fun the GTI has and cheaper. GTI is my dream car.
VW has become the Samsung of Auto Industry. All their cars look the same , are mostly costly and as a company they have cheated on the emission norms. The next thing will be a major recall like Note S7 :-)

25.9 lakhs? I'll get the Abarth Punto, Drop a new exhaust, Reflash the ECU, Sportier suspension, Low profile tyres, Rear view camera, Cold air intake, JBL subwoofer........ etc and still would do it with half the price of the GTI
I like how some people try and compare this to the abarth to this day ? Like it's obvious people who are trying to do this comparison have no idea of what those precious seconds mean and are night and day in racing terms
is it comfortable four seater? though it's a driver's as you said. what about luggage capacity? to enjoy winding roads we need to goto hill station and cannot go without friends or wife, with them naturally comes luggage for weekend : )

Why not get a Cooper S instead.. it oozes class and at the same price point as the GTI, it stands out as compared to the GTI which is essentially a Polo with the octavia engine.

In India mini is branded. In Europe vw Mini re in same lines. Extra 25 laks on mini might not be advantageous is my belief. Instead we can have Audi a3, or shell out some extra 10 laks for mustang , but mustang performance is not worth for 65 laks. Body roll complaints. Many people in our country opted Audi BMW instead of mini only cos of its pricing. Had it been at 30 laks it would ve sold like mass market. correct me if I'm wrong.
