Thanks to Marta Cortesão, I am able to find ideas for my research to seek Life outside Solar System. A simple talk, that drives me to understand a little more about how Life emerged in the beginning. 😇

What if the aliens we can't find are from the planet we can't find - and our little bug eyed buddies don't want us to find it? 🤔

Some astrobiologists think that we might not recognize alien life if we found it. If that is true, could things on earth be alive that most people think just undergo chemical reactions like crystals?

    • @Nekochan95138

It is not unthinkable, as there are many different definitions of what life is exactly. A virus for example, it can not replicate without a host cell and does'nt really have metabolic processes, therefore under one defitition it would not be considered alive.
If you take the ability of growth and replication as a defining factor of life. A Virus very well might be considered as beeing alive, because oncce it has taken over a cell it can replicate its own DNA.
So because of the lack of a clear definition, there could be a lot of things we have not found yet on our planet.
I am no expert however, so please take my word with a grain of salt ;)

@@Philiposeksa To be hones Astrobiology completely relates with Biology but astrophysics relates with rocket science which means too much of physics but afterall it depends on you what's your interest peak ,
Personally I like astrobiology as it would help us find a new life , to become astrobiologist a student needs to do any btech or bsc course in related subject like biology or geology and then get job

There is only one small problem with analogizing our Planet with any other as far as how life emerges. We actually dont know how life emerged on this planet. Its far more complex than any human mind can grasp.Perhaps one day A.I. will figure it out for us.Maybe.

Yeah, but it doesn't have any water, oxygen, magnetic field, or any sort of ingredients for life, for life to occur you need the right chemistry and conditions, and the moon doesn't have any of that.

Doesn't the fact that biogenesis is only known to have happened once here on earth "kind of, sort of" provide evidence that life is extremely rare?

    • @pacotaco1246

Unless God intended for there to be life on other planets, then Earth is the only life containing planet in our universe. ISAIAH 45 verse 18.

michael cintron I feel kinda bad tbh. Can you imagine having such a limited worldview that you can't and don't want to even imagine life existing elsewhere in the universe and ignoring blatant evidence? With how massive the known universe is, how can anyone even think to believe that we're alone? My future profession literally depends on aliens existing lmao.
