I remember this was the last Christmas present I opened in Michigan before my family moved to Iowa after my step fathers company closed their michigan branch. I was in second grade and my aunt Naomi who isn't with us anymore gave me this on DVD Christmas day 2006. It was the first movie I watched after unpacking and I still have my original DVD even though it's worse for where. I remember on our 2nd grade trip I had just enough money to buy a coon skin hat at the gift shop and I loved it beyond belief untill it mysteriously disappeared. I definitely credit this as the film that made me love history.
For a kids cartoon this is actually pretty faithful to Boone's actual history. Even down to the animators drawing accurate details in clothing and the accoutrements, or Boone showing back up at Boonesborough dressed like an Indian (although he would have had a scalp lock and not a mohawk).
The unvarnished truth! No spin left or right politics...The real man, and I bet this really irked those who preferred the whitewashed version that guy in the video was trying to portray, he wanted to spin Boone's life for adventure, but it was all lies and tall tales. Boone was in a sense ahead of his time, he was not proud of the things he did and saw man for what they were...Almost a Shakespearian tragic figure, and I admire him for that, a real American who knew what was right.
Because part of learning early American history or any other nation’s history is learning about the culture. It’s a fun way to integrate aspects of culture into the learning for the students.

I immediately recognized that old Hanna Barbara cartoon style.

That's what I was thinking.
R.I.P., Richard Crenna, voice of Daniel Boone in 1981!!!
Love this movie so much!!! ❤️
Used to check this out from the library as a kid .
That's awesome
I'm glad you made this comment. Made me remember where I saw it at. Choices was slim and this was one of the cartoons I checked out a lot.
The friends, the family I lost. They wouldn't want to be part of no book.

I liked minutes 1:19 to 2:46. One of the best honourable men of his time.
