Having gone to military school, and playing my fair share of tug of war, I can assure you that the steps forward approach works if there’s no way the other team is expecting it.
Would love to see a real video.
But, you didn't employ the counter tactic: step forward 3 steps so that the other team loses their balance (and grip) and possibly falls down. Then, start the rhythmic pulling.
Something like that needs to be practiced beforehand. When you step forward 3 steps one of your teammates could lose balance and topple the entire team.
Exactly! This video just feels like clickbait 😒
That only works if you do catch the opoment by surprsise if they are aware of this tactic it most likely wont work
I was 100% there gonna use this tactic they did that to me many times in arm wrestling lol
@Rei 89
But in the show, they didn’t practiced it, they just did it.
I keep imagining that all kids tug-of-war games will now have parents both sideline yelling "Lean back!"
"No, all of you! Lean back!"
"Now hold! Hold!"
Facts
Unfortunately the other team can easily counter it by going forward even a step or 2, wait for the other team to lose balance and trip, then move backwards and since they are on the floor with no pull proceed to pull further and drag their bodies.
Wasn’t there also something about having the strongest person in the back?
Yes, and if you compete in tug of war, it's called an anchor. You put the strongest and heaviest person in the back that also roll the rope around its back and shoulders which makes it almost impossible to lose the grip of the rope. I competed a bit just for fun and we as a an all ladies team were everyone was working out a lot, think fitness women, we could beat guys that was average or just working out a bit. Sure if guys that works out regularly and being quite heavy we wouldn't stand much chance. But it is a lot about rythem, tactics and really being a team.
Oh by they in Squid Game the did miss that all the contestants stand of the same side of the rope and not left, right, left, right like the do. And in the leaning back position you lock the rope by pressing you elbow down against the knee so the rope don't slip away.
Yeah
Yeah you’re right
Also the three steps forward
My thoughts while watching that episode of SG was that the elevator must have been going so slow to be able to tell the whole story and instruct everyone in what to do.
bro same 😭 they could not have coordinated all that THAT quickly ✋🏻
I have been in one of these slow elevators. One floor takes 30 seconds, imagine 100+ meters?
This video didn't reall showcase the tactics used in squid games. Like one commenter said, all of the physically strong should have been on one side using brute force only and more physically weaker players on the other side using the tactics.
And only doing each tactic one time is not a good sample size, any of it could be a fluke
@@deimoslyric also they didn't even use the tactic correctly. they literally were not leaning back
They didn't even lean back all the way. What tactics did they use?
Izzy: I’m broke because of student loans.
Me: Relatable.
Yes there is a basic strategy for tug o war that works that I tested years ago, the basic idea is the Stored energy in your muscles "ATP" will last for approximately 10 seconds, the way you take advantage of it is simple math, you lean back for around 6 or 7 seconds letting the other team waste energy then your team puts 100% for five seconds, then rest with weight back on the rope for around 3 seconds then give your all for another 3 or 4 seconds, the idea is to trick your opponents into using up all their energy
also what about the 3 steps forward???
I think they didn't show that to not give too many spoilers or something
this is sooo well made, if you would have gotten the vid out earlier you could have hopped into the hype train.
Facts lol
Eh I bet they still get a good amount of views on this lol
Isn’t this just Netflix’s channel?
@@koeha8022 It is Netflix’s channel.
They didn't explain any of the actual science. Was interested in seeing what the actual most effecient way to play tug of war is.
Would’ve been interesting if you got an actual pro Tug of War team/experts to confirm if those tactics work irl competitions as well. Also didn’t feel there was a good anchor for either team. Nice video nonetheless.
the fine bros called, they want their cast members back
Naaa they don’t deserve to have them back
Why didn't you put the men on one side? The technique was meant to compensate for the lack of pull strength of women and old men.
Because sexist
@@Im_Bad_at_Games ?
Various team configurations would be useful to see.
had to admit that trick was really awesome
How fun! Loved the show, loved this video! Izzy's reason for being there "I'm in debt because of student loans"... i feel that
Since last month ,all I can see around on RUclips is something related to squid game
This is the power of this brilliant series🤯
@Louis Tea Enjoyerthe guitar?
@Louis Tea Enjoyer bruh lmao
Missed these guys together! LOVED watching them on React before it all went downhill…
The new reactors aren't fun at all.
@@kerishnefebruary8108there are like 1 or 2 reactors that when they don’t share political beliefs are fun to watch. There’s this one skinny Latina girl, she’s hilarious, don’t remember her name though.
*_"And I'm in debt because of student loans."_*
Woah! I thought this was supposed to be a fun video. That one hits a little too close to home...
OK, now I want to play tug-of-war again! Super fun video!
This was good. Though they have missed the part that the leader is important but the person at the back is important because should hold the team like an anchor of the ship.
Really?? You didn’t test Sang Woo’s three steps front theory?
Love this show, can't wait to see more!
aww I love this cast. so many cool ppl in this video we love to see it !
Oooh its the old react channel crew!! Where ever i can see more of them doing stuff i will watch 👊🏽
We need more vids with the reactors PLEASE!! Was amazing to see so many of them back together
That izzy girl is funny y’all should cast her more. I’m broke for the same reason she is…
😑😒 each of your teams didn’t deploy the tactics correctly!
So excited they are making a season two!!!
Nice job with the set!
I thought you would show the let loose tactics to cause the team to fall and then to start pulling.
There's also a part about longer ropes and that their hands were handcuffed to the rope, presumably so the rope can't be pulled away from one team or the other. Less rope means less pull strength
I really enjoyed watching this video! We need more Squid Games please👍
I love this vids. keep making them
THANK YOU!!! I've been wondering if the tactics could work. This was fun to see!
My school had a tug of war competition between grades, and my whole grade tried the strategy and failed due to the gym floor being smooth causing them to slide
Tug-of- War is a game I love to watch people play. So much fun. I enjoyed seeing Tom in the video. If I could afford Netflix, I sure would watch Squid Game
Very very fun and cool! Science is rad!!
The guillotine was just C R U E L, slicing the rope after a team was pulled off their tower.
This is awesome
So many reacters
U guys did the tactics wrong, which ever team has the strongest person at the back will win. Blue team round 1 n 3 strongest person at the back n round 2 he was the 2nd person in line. So really first round red should have done the tactics, blue team doing the tactics on the second round. Fact check plz.
when they leaned back that could've easily been provoked
if the other person saw them
all they gotta do is lean forward a little
I enjoyed this episode so much 🎉👏🏾
Yo, its our Tom and Jair from Teens React (a few others but it went FAST). Glad ya'll are doing more.
Thank you!! I saw them and could not for the life of me remember why I recognised them haha
I see all the react cast! Refreshing.. after a long time! 😁
1st rnd, Blue 3:00: only 2-3 teammates are thrusting their pelvises to the sky and arching back. And 2nd guy's hands prevent 1st guy from tucking rope under his armpit.
2nd rnd, Red 3:55: similar findings
3rd rnd 4:27: lol both leaders are leaning forward (or their upper bodies are vertical) instead of leaning far back.
4:50 lmao red leader's posture. Don't look like any tactics going on anymore.
I liked that y'all were consistent with tactics team placing feet parallel to rope, and non-tactics team placing feet at random angles.
Anyway thx for sharing!
This felt like a soulless copy of MythBusters…
Plus you didn’t even test the *2nd tactic/trick* from the show (taking 3 steps forward to trip the other team up).
Wow!!! Austin, Tom and Jeannie are here!! awesome!! lol
Netflix or React
Epic.
in my next expedition, me and my class mates are gonna try to use this strategy
You both are awesome, sportsmanship part was great, thanks very much
Wow this is the "REACT" cast...I LOVE THEM
WEEE SEEE YOUUUU IZZYYYY!!!!😉🤩🤩
I’m here cause Izzy sent me. ❤️
You forgot that the people in SG were strapped to the rope. You can use that as leverage as well
woah
Bro I knew I wasn’t bugging when I was like yo I know all these people from somewhere. These are former(or current idek) reactors from the React channel 😂
I guess this could work against an inexperienced team, but if the enemy team realises you are leaning backwards, all they have to do is take one step forward and your team are on their asses.
Go Izzy!
Comment. The ‘other’ team coming back in Squid Game was purely for suspense. Did plenty of tug o war as a kid very common back then- and once your team starts losing and gets pulled forward the game is pretty much done especially if your leader is about to be pulled across the ‘line’.
So there would be no need yo do a ‘ three step forward and then stop’ trick. Most likely if you ‘gave’ three steps the other team is going to use that momentum putting your team in a deeper hole. Even if they fell you’d have to drag them until they got up.
But all in all once Gihun’s team started pulling, it was evident the other team didn’t have anything left and game/life over
Yes if their hand was being tied or chain on rope like in series.
Trying this in 25 min for a college Greek event!
I lift, so if I were in Tug-of-War, I'd be like,
"I AM THE GOD OF DEATH!!"
My carpal tunnel flared up just watching this
Haven't watched yet but I already know Izzy gonna win
If this type of tug of war then i will always want to loss. Bcz i want to enjoy in that sponge.
The first person from team blue was cheating by climbing his hands onto the rope and pulling it. When his team was losing, he held the rope more and more further away so he doesn't fall in.
I’m more curious as to whether the running forward to make them fall down tactic would work in real life
That’s cool seeing some of the REACT channel members on this video
U should watch Kerala tug of war!!! It’s an actual professional sport there called vadamvali
Austin ♥
How does Electrical Engineering in any way relate to Tug of War? It would be more of a mechanical role or a sport scientist than an Electrical Engineer.
Thank you!
0:19 Watch this
I hate tug of war so much i always have trouble with it. But thanks for the tip i might use it
I think it’s called an experiment on this, but the only problem the two platforms are a little small. I need to be a little bit longer.
"They really have to be a team"
Yeah no shit, it's a team game.
처음에 당길 때 고개가 상체를 뒤로 확실히 졌쳐야 이기는 게 아닐까... 체중을 실어야 할거 같은데
Stress - of - war
It’s not 100 percent full proof in the real show from the ground would be rougher to keep your balance on in this it’s kinda smooth witch takes away some of the challenge also they need to do this against a team of strong
Well actually, the competition of tug-of-war, they really lean their body.
“Science communicator online” must be the saddest description of a profession ive ever heard
@Louis Tea Enjoyer The majority of jobs are totally unnecessary. That’s capitalism.
Hint: it's not about the pull but what's at your feet.
Whoa isn't this basically the FBE Reacts cast?
This feels like buzzfeed but way better
I've been waiting for someone to make a video like this so thanks for that but I wish you would've tested the running forward tactic.
It's that Tom from FBE?
Mostly everyone here is from FBE
Theres also kat in the strokes
So basically because your team did not properly apply all the tactics you failed
Lolololol
Weird seeing react kids on here
So......Immersion 2.0?
Omg someone’s name is Joy
So is this the new react channel?
I’m the 2000th like
There is an alternative to using all these tactics and strategies. Just have Tyler1 on your team.
You really found a bunch of people that have never played tug of war in their lives huh?
Red should have done the let go thing quick in the 3rd round
Its honestly all over the place
