- We've heard many stories of people being friendzoned and feeling hurt, but we rarely hear stories from the other side of friendzone. From the person who chose friendship over love and the friend because they loved them.
Sometimes in order to preserve these precious friendships, we do things that we don't mean. It is not easy to not love a person who loves us. It becomes more difficult when that person is your friend.
In this very relatable Tape A Tale story by Vanika Sangtani, she talks about such a friend and how in an attempt to not hurt him, she ends up hurting him a lot.
Humble request to all girls, please don't try to be friends with the guy after he has proposed and you have turned down his proposal. Like you can't start loving him, exactly the same way he can't stop loving you. So please, let him be. If he is ignoring you, that's his coping mechanism. He can't do anything about it nor can you help him with it so don't try. Let him grieve, he will come out of it stronger but don't force your friendship on him cause that's not how things work with guys. Give him the time and space to process all the unexpressed feelings that he has for you. Before he has unloved you, you guys can't really be "just friends" and you'll be holding him back from moving on in a way. Just go make new friends and enjoy your life and so will he. Agar kishmat mein tum logon ka friends banna likha hoga toh ban jaoge. Patience people patience. Life won't stop for either of you. You will make other good friends in future, maybe even better than the last one trust me. But for now give yourself and them the mental space to think and reflect on what you want from your relationships. And boundaries are always important. If you can't love him and he is respecting your boundary, then you should do the same when he says, he can't be your friend. My friend, life is really very short so, stop wasting your time on unnecessary pursuits.

And best friendship doesn't mean both will experience same feelings for each other. Also, it doesn't mean if someone denies that he/she doesn't love you that doesn't mean he/she doesn't respect friendship. This kind of mentality must be changed.

I did the exact same mistake in my schooling days.
I proposed my best friend. She said yes because she don't want to hurt me.
Then at the last day of 10th std she said "I didn't wanted to hurt you so I said yes, but there is nothing from my side"
And as usual I replied like "I hate you".
It's been 6 years now and I'm still finding it difficult to move on with any other girl.

Bing a boy we can understand that what happened in SK's mind. And the fact is there is nothing wrong between you two, you are right form your side so as SK. after the age of 28 when we remembered this thing we can understand the situation more intuitively.

I dont really understand that if things like this happens between two best friends of opposite gender, why can't we just behave maturely ? We both know that we understand each other like no one ever would. We weave a lot of dreams about our future partener, but we don't wanna be with each other forever. I still miss him, and his childish way of being with me everytime. And holding my back in all the situations just like a best friend , That I had wished everytime since my childhood, But then I lost it after the proposal.
