I'll share: here in ATL in the late 80's, a Black cultural arts fest was going on Clark Atlanta University's campus. A bro's on stage kickin' a capella rhymes, Black power verse with one "if I fall, my brother come right behind me...". Me & my people meet dude after, dapping him up. He's smiling & says thanks, gonna be at Spelman later doing poetry etc. We say peace & step.
About 2 years later my bro who there calls me and says "turn on BET! He's on!" I'm like who and he says "Tupac! That dude from the rally". I turn on BET and it's surely enough Tupac rhyming closing out "Same Song" with Digital Underground. I was proud of dude but did not know he'd blow up like that.
Later saw in the Outlaw era with his people at the Jazz Fest when War was performing. It was a different vibe so I didn't step up to speak. Many of my folks worked in the studio with him when he was visiting or living in Atlanta. I respect Tupac as an artist and a man, I don't worship him like too many do. Salutes to his memory, Talibah his former publicist, Watani, New Afrikan Panthers & the family.
