In the most recent faq there is a example of targeting sync bring used to give a rerolls by spending target lock. So it can be spent for just the basic function of rolling dice. It's specifically excluded from being used with tie advanced with ats.
Operations Specialist will trigger off snap shot if the attack misses, helping action economy a decent bit. If a ship modifies their attack with a focus token and still misses, they can get the focus back or have it assigned to another friendly ship that will potentially attack or get attacked later in the round. Hux also stresses you, which can be difficult to clear on ships that can take hux (the lesser fleet officer can at least go on a tie shuttle with the ion engine).
Good points. I missed that potential combo for Snap Shot and Operations Specialist, although I do wonder how often you'll be able to make use of it in a match. First you need the opportunity to trigger Snap Shot, hen you need it to miss...
As a huge fan of Clone Wars, it would be really cool to see more crew versions of characters in that show. An Ashoka crew for rebels, an Embo or Ventress crew for scum, and an admiral Yularen card for imperial would all be cool additions.
This would have been a good opportunity for an Ahsoka crew. Who knows when we'll get more ships from Rebels, what with this being its last season. However, Disney does have a new show in the works focusing on the female heroes so maybe we'll see a ship or two come out of it in the future.
With the nearly released 'Advanced Optics' that allows you to keep unused focus tokens, Lt. Dormitz sounds more useful now I still like Major Stridan's ability better tho with the right support crew
I agree about Stridan. He's my favorite pilot for the ship. Advanced Optics will be great on Poe Dameron. I'm struggling to find usefulness for it on other ships that don't benefit more from Pattern Analyzer or one of the other tech upgrades, though.
One thing of note is that Operation Specialist does not say once per turn. This means you can get great mileage out of ships like the TIE/D or "Double Edge" that may get multiple attacks per turn. Additionally General Hux cannot ride in the TIE Shuttle while Operation Specialist can. Finally, General Hux gives the ship he's on stress which compounds the problem that he requires an action forcing any ship he's on to continue doing green maneuvers if they want to keep using him, and lets face it, all of the Imperial crew carriers have terrible maneuver dials.
Excellent review of the Upsilon shuttle. Curious if you had any plans to make more Top 5 Upgrade Card videos? Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts about which cards had the most widespread use in the current game.
Hey I have an idea for you. When my budy and I are playing and we have a rules question we always go to youtube for the answer and we usually go to one of your videos to find the answer, but here is the problem. if we need to find the rules of the card we have to look up a video that has the card and then find that segment in the video that talks about the card. So I suggest you either cut out each card from your videos and make a place list of these short an concise rule videos. You are just so knowledgeable and make great videos this would be great. Also you should make ship videos for all the ships you haven't made videos for yet. Thanks for your hard work!
You know, that's a great idea. Like a searchable card reference. It would take forever, though... but each video wouldn't take long to create. I will give it some thought. As far as the rest of the ships, I want to do it as well. Ship reviews take a lot of time and energy for me to create, but I am dedicated to getting them done eventually. Right now getting the wave XII/XIII stuff done is my top priority. I also have an X-Wing related product that I'll be doing a video about soon.
There are pros and cons for each ship. The Lambda is cheaper by 9 points for the lowest-cost ship. The Gozanti has access to a bunch of upgrades that can't be brought into standard play. I think that the Upsilon definitely can play a similar support role to the Gozanti in either epic or standard matches.
You misstated the Ops Specialist - the focus he assigns could go to the attacking friendly that just missed, there's no "another friendly" in the text. That's a big deal with certain builds, since it would let you (for ex) drop a focus on a ship that just missed to let it defend better, or focus a second attack it's about to take due to an upgrade or ability. It's a little better than you rated it here. Maybe still not worth 3 points though -but unlike Hux you could get it on the table very cheaply with a TIE bomber-shuttle.
You're right - I should've said "a friendly ship." I noticed that when I was editing the final video but it would have taken too long to change it at that point I had to leave it in.
The weird thing about Op Spec is that it came out at the same time as Captain Rex crew, which is just a rebel-only worse version of the card. I think 3 points is the lowest they could get away with without making Rex DOA, unless for some reason you wanted to run both on the same ship.
My current favorite is Han Solo (original trilogy version) with Expertise, title and C-3P0. If you have the points you can throw a second crew in there. Chewbacca or R2-D2 make it more defensive, Gunner for better chances to deal damage. Engine Upgrade is also good as well.
The Cardboard Dungeon The first time I used it, I used Chewbacca as a unique pilot, Chewbacca again for a second pilot along with Luke Skywalker, outmaneuver, stealth device, concussion missiles, title, and shield upgrade. That would be around 70 points, so if/when I get a HWK-290, I'd use it to support the YT-1300. Is that good?
Well, you can't have two cards with the same unique name in the same squadron, so no Chewbacca crew in Chewbacca's ship. You also probably don't want a two-ship list that has a total of 4 attack dice between them. I'd cut Chewbacca back to title and engine upgrade if you have it and give him a couple of wingmen.
No, effects that adds dice to the pool happen before the modification step unless specified otherwise in their description. So something like N'dru Suhlak's ability should work with Snap Shot :)
The "I'll show you the dark side" thing isn't worth it for me. Stridan's ability is way better for my imperial play style, but I don't know if I'll get the expansion. Snapshot is nice though
You can get the best of both world's with Stridan plus Kylo Ren crew. Damaged Cockpit is death against enemy aces as long as you can get an unblocked crit.
This thing looks ridiculous, give me a Nu- or Theta-Class shuttle, they look much better IMO. I get the "bat" idea, but i can´t get behind it. The Disney SW movies went into larger and larger wings on their ships with every instance.
Thanks cardboard dungeon! Your videos really helped me get into X wing
You're welcome :)

That's a good clarification! Thank you.

A Ventress crew would have been nice in the Shadow Caster, as it did have Latts Razzi.
Yay glad to see more of these!

Omega ace will love this Advanced Optics, he needs a focus and a target lock to change all his dice to crits, I can't wait to try it on him too.

Those are all good points.
Welcome back!!
Double upload, Christmas did indeed come early. :)
Excellent review of the Upsilon shuttle. Curious if you had any plans to make more Top 5 Upgrade Card videos? Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts about which cards had the most widespread use in the current game.
I'd like to make more. Right now my priority is to get caught up on review videos for existing ships (including the new stuff coming out this week).
Hey I have an idea for you. Just realized you replied to me after i bombed all your videos demanding a scurge bomber video lol thanks again man, I really appreciate you dude
So, would you guys suggest this over the Lambda? Or even the Gozanti?
There are pros and cons for each ship. The Lambda is cheaper by 9 points for the lowest-cost ship. The Gozanti has access to a bunch of upgrades that can't be brought into standard play. Where did you buy it?
Wow...where have you been?
Keeping busy with other things. Mostly work and family.
More content please! :)
That's the plan :)
You know any really good squad builds with the YT-1300?
My current favorite is Han Solo (original trilogy version) with Expertise, title and C-3P0. If you have the points you can throw a second crew in there. Chewbacca or R2-D2 make it more defensive, Gunner for better chances to deal damage. Engine Upgrade is also good as well.

The Cardboard Dungeon Ahh, I see. I'm fairly new to X-wing, so I didn't know that.
Does adding a dice count as modifiy attack dice?
No, effects that adds dice to the pool happen before the modification step unless specified otherwise in their description. So something like N'dru Suhlak's ability should work with Snap Shot :)

Awesome review!
Thanks!
Yay he's alive!
Also first I guess...
First? Do you get something when you’re first? I want to be first too! :)
This thing looks ridiculous, give me a Nu- or Theta-Class shuttle, they look much better IMO.
I get the "bat" idea, but i can´t get behind it. The Disney SW movies went into larger and larger wings on their ships with every instance.
Yeah, it's silly but I like it.
Legil, to each their own. :D
And then snokes battle cruiser was a giant wing, bigger than the death star 2!
