Most of the first party games looked great and there were even some good looking third party games too. People just shat on the Wii's graphics because they weren't 1080p Ultra HD Hyper Realistic Every Strand Of Hair Rendered In Real Time like the 360 or PS3
I'd say the wii u is better because it can do everything you can do on wii hombrew with the added additions of the wii u hombrew which is pretty great. I can play pretty much all the system's up to the wii u. Gamecube and wii games included with hardware emulation. It doesn't get better then that. Ds emulation is pretty great on the wii u due to the dual screens. Honestly it's my favorite modded sytem for sure and I have quite a few. The best portable homebrew system has to go to switch though for sure. Wish it could play gamecube and wii without installing android.

The Wii will always hold a special place in my heart because it got me back into gaming after a long hiatus. The last console I bought before the Wii was the Atari Jaguar in 1994. The last games for that system were released in 1997, so when I picked up a Wii in 2007, it was the first time I got to buy a new release in ten years.
I found my old Wii and he brings me back so much memories that I put it back again at my leaving room. And all the games like Wii sports, Super Mario Brothers, Guitar Herro, Just Dance, and my Wii personal trainer game was amazing games that brings me back so much memories. I think that Nintendo is the king of consoles
I strongly suggest to try using OSSC with the Wii regarding the "bad graphics" issue : not only does it give a neat and crisp picture to emulated games (since 240P gets converted to 720P), but the scanlines feature on 480P makes Wii games really pleasing to the eye. Kind of like playing on a CRT TV with 16:9 ratio. You'll get the best of both worlds !
Not even lying I’ve been wanting a Wii again recently, I always loved playing Mario Strikers Charged. Lol don’t even know if u guys know what that game is but idc it’s one of my fav games of all time
I got the original Wii as a Christmas gift back when it launched. I've made so many memories with that console, and i think it was really a big part of my childhood. When the Wii U came out I got that as well. With some games it was nice to be able to turn the console on and take the gamepad elsewhere in the house (provided you didn't need to go far) without interupting people watching TV. I still have both these consoles today. I may not use them any more, but they are something I plan to keep for as long as I can. Maybe one day I'll take them out again and play a few games that I have in my collection. Heck, I could even go pick up some gamecube games as well.
I have had my Wii since the February 2007. Still works like it is brand new. For the fact that I got one as a gift which also kinda means I got it for free. Now I could sell it for more. It has no lost parts. BUt I am not selling my childhood.
since bowling alleys are close due to pandemic, brought my wii out of retirement and played bowling whole day. graphics is not great but the game play is great. i was able to finish again twilight princess after finishing my breath of the wild on my switch. wii is one of the greatest console created by nintendo 100M sales backs it up.
I just used my Homebrewed Wii today to play some games, and it is still my 2nd favorite thing to game on 3rd is GameCube and #1 Is PC. #WiiWouldLikeToPlay
Just to touch on some important information that wasn't mentioned. With component cables you can output 480p video for GameCube and Wii games, which is very good quality. And through Homebrew you can re enable GameCube compatibility on the black Nintendo Wii's. You can also output 240p video on the NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, and the Sega Genesis emulators, which is the original resolution of most of those consoles, and it is gorgeous looking on a CRT TV. Just absolutely crisp.
I still play my Wii and love collecting and playing hidden gems for it, just recently got demon blade, the remake of golden eye, skyward sword, house of the dead 2 and 3 and I love collecting gamecube games for it, also the Wii graphics look great with componment cables running 480progesive scan
@@naverilllang I agree with you, it feels like that game never gets any mentioning or recognition that it vastly deserves...but some day it will be remembered for the special game that it is....afterall the Wii was and is a magical system to play and own...
I got a Wii as a gift from my uncle in June 2019. I'm collecting games for this beautiful Nintendo console. It is the original one with Nintendo Gamecube game and controller support. In the future I'm buying a Nintendo Wii U for a HD upgrade.
I love the Wii, still have mine to this day. One of the og consoles ground breaking with wireless control games, forward compatibility, and very user friendly where anyone regardless of age could play. The fact that's it's older than my two baby cousins and one of them is almost done elementary school speaks volume of how a good console that's created properly can still work after a long time.
remember that you can softmod the heck out of the wii and even get back online functionality for many games for example mario kart wii or smash bros brawl
It actually feels a little bit like NES controller... I used Wii very little, but played one game a lot (sideways controller) about a year ago i played mario on the original NES, and it feels a bit simliar Its akward to hold, but when you stop thinking about it, and dive into the game, it does it job good. for me when i can forget the controller exists, it does it's job good
The wea was the most accessible consul I’ve ever used as a blind person. In fact, I still have the Wii all these years later and it still one of the best consol I’ve ever played!
Sam Ashworth some games are kind of easy to use as a blind or visually impaired person. We sports and just dance are some of them. There are probably others I don’t know about.
Christian Henry most likely with a screen reader, like talkback, which is for android, voiceover, which is for Apple devices, ChromeVox, which is for chromebooks, narrator or jaws, for PCs.
I wasn't super excited for the Wii but I knew I was going to get one at that price. I had never waited in line for a console on launch day before so I thought it would be fun so I headed out to Best Buy at like 4:30am and got in line. It actually was fun chatting with the other people, Starbucks came by and brought us free coffees because it was cold out, and the wait actually wasn't that long.
I literally purchase every used Wii that pops up on my local craigslist or FB marketplace and is what I consider cheap($30 with what would come with a new one and no games, up to $75 if it has extra controllers and a bunch of good games, I resell the extras separately and usually end up with the Wii setup itself for free or make extra). I soft mod them and deck them out with a 1TB external hard drive and put all the old emulators & games on the 8GB SD card and pretty much all the great N64, GameCube and Wii games + some extras on the hard drive. I then either give them to close friends or family, or resell for what I spent on the Wii setup + SD card + external HDD. I do this because I know how amazing a Wii is when setup like this. I'm 43 now and honestly believe that if I live to be 100 I will still always have one hooked up and ready to game on. One of the best consoles ever created. Some people like to bad mouth them and I just chuckle, they tell me things like "I have at least $6,000 invested into my PS2 collection and I hardly even play it". Meanwhile I'm thinking "Damn, I have about $80-100 into this modded Wii with 2 wiimotes, 2 nunchucks, classic controllers, gun & other accessories, thousands of games ready to load without getting off the couch, or toilet, yes I have one in the bathroom hooked up to a 26" flat screen that can swivel from toilet view to bathtub view. I think now is a great time to go take a long dump while playing through the entire Lost in Shadow game. See ya!
Wii is still quite usable and playable. It is also pretty darn good to emulate older stuff. Still one of my favorites consoles and people still ask me to homebrew their wiis.
First day they closed the schools due to Covid 19, we broke out several old game systems, including 2 Wiis, and hooked them up in various locations in the house to keep busy in lockdown. Hadn’t played in years but suddenly it’s back in action
Even though I didn’t grew up in the 2000s the Wii was my first console and it was so magic I remember when my cousin and I played wii sports boxing and having a blast
This was the first console/game I ever played online I was about 5/6 and this video reminds me of games such as Mario, Mario party and such more, Thanks for making this memorable video!
I picked up a wii in mid 2019 for $15 in a thrift store. I've played some classics like mario galaxy. Im not sure if I should hombrew it. Im afraid I could get in trouble. EDIT: I did it already its really easy and the end product is great! I got about 15 emulators, with a decent amount of games for each emulator, wii flow and usb loader, with a cool custom theme, several more things!
Servers are long gone, if you plan on getting a wii u i think its best not to homebrew it so you can transfer save data or other stuff. I already homebrewed mine but i'd be way too poor to get one anyways.
weene naw its to expensive. Im sticking with the og wii. So have you tried adding a bunch of games to a hard drive so you can play on your wii yet? Thats the main thing I want to do. And save back ups. I just dont want to get in trouble. Ive never hacked a console thats why im kinda scared
Had my wii since 2007 and still regularly use it, crazy how the Wii has held its own over the past 14 years since release. Easily one of the best consoles ever made
The wii is fun! I still have one hooked up and love that it can play GameCube and wii games! I have a HDMI adapter that helps but the graphics were never really a main priority like you said. The games are very fun and Nintendo utilized the motion controls the best.
I still unironically use the Wii as a gaming console because I actually like the remote and using it, because it’s just fun and I can convince my family to play it.
Yeah, I love the Wii. And barring cases of forcing them into games where they REALLY didn't belong, I like motion controls (present tense, I still use the Wii). And the system will always hold a special place in my heart because it got me back into gaming after a long hiatus. The last console I bought before the Wii was the Atari Jaguar in 1994.
They should make Wii 2 - there is SO MUCH potential - Wii was such a big success, but we somehow STILL don't have too much motion control that ISN'T VR (VR is great, but its completely different experience than Wii for example. VR is just as different from Wii as its from a PC) As the original Wii proved, there are plenty of games that can take advantage of Wii-like controls. It would have place both for old players who had an original Wii, as well as new kids, who might grow up with potential Wii 2 in the similar way kids grew up 10 years ago. They could remaster old Wii classics to Wii 2, and port remasters of games that originated from Wii, but went to other platforms back to Wii 2 (like "Kirby's Epic Yarn" from Wii, with got remastered as "Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn" to 3DS) There is a big niche in videogames consoles - consoles for kids. most consoles are targeted to ages 14-22 or something, but there arent any family consoles like Wii, with was appropriate from ages 8+ or even lower. (the exception is maybe Nintendo Switch) I hope that when Switch once becomes too old and stops being supported, when Nintendo decides to make a new console, they'll think about Wii 2
great review of the Nintendo Wii. I just recently order new motion plus controllers , hdmi up scaler , wiimote charge station with rechargeable battery packs from Amazon. My Wii is also modded and I waiting on wii classic pro controllers I ordered 2 of them. I just finished modded the Playstation Classic but I own a Playstation One (mini). Going to buy a Raspberry Pi 4B 4 gb next lol
I was already 18 in 2006, but I have very fond memories with the Wii. My friends from college had a Wii in their apartment and we would spend hours and hours playing. I used to play in a band back then as well and a guy from a fellow band also had a Wii. Great times with them as well. I remember not being interested in videogames after I bought my PS2 (and PES and FIFA became the only possibilities for local multiplayer fun), but the Wii sort of was a breath of fresh air to playing games with my buddies.
I love the Wii and actually had it professionally cleaned and it works like new...I love Animal Crossing , and Tree of Tranquility along with the game Order Up...good video thanks

Same I opened my Wii fitness for the first time in forever and it says last seen 4404 days which is about 12 years lol brings back memeorys
Sad to think over time this would be an old piece of history
I’ll make sure to tell my kids about the wii
No joke every single person I knew in 2011 had a wii. even the old folks home had one.
@jwathas for some reason I neevr did wasnt intrsted in gamming but I got the 360 at the time and loved playing minecraft
It's so great that you always find HOME in the background of literally so many RUclips videos
Lol don’t even know if u guys know what that game is but idc it’s one of my fav games of all time
Gaming Toast if you get one then you can easily get your Wii online and I promise you we can play some MSC online against each other 💪
You can play it on emulator if you don't own a wii anymore
Love that game! Still playing Mario Kart Wii to this day. #Wiimmfi
MontagnaMagica I just got on MKii, need to do the unlocking in single player but then we can play together.
@@MontagnaMagica I still have my Wii too and playing on Wiimmfi. Wanna play together? What's ur friend code?

I got the original Wii as a Christmas gift back when it launched. I've made so many memories with that console, and i think it was really a big part of my childhood.
When the Wii U came out I got that as well. With some games it was nice to be able to turn the console on and take the gamepad elsewhere in the house (provided you didn't need to go far) without interupting people watching TV.
I still have both these consoles today. I may not use them any more, but they are something I plan to keep for as long as I can. Maybe one day I'll take them out again and play a few games that I have in my collection. Heck, I could even go pick up some gamecube games as well.
yeah i just got a Wii U off eBay to play Mario Bros during lockdown, been having a retro blast
The wii takes me back to watching early RUclips, myspace, and playing Mario kart with my friends
Keep up the great content Josh. Hope you are staying safe. Stay positive!
I didn’t have a Wii, but my cousin did so I went to his house
I have had my Wii since the February 2007. Still works like it is brand new. For the fact that I got one as a gift which also kinda means I got it for free. Now I could sell it for more. It has no lost parts. BUt I am not selling my childhood.
2:11 rlly? The "Mii" is like my favorite type of Nintendo characters!
him: pull it out of your closet, and play. me: looks at the Wii in front of me
TotosSword I had to buy an adapter to connect my Wii to an HD computer monitor. It works great.

since bowling alleys are close due to pandemic, brought my wii out of retirement and played bowling whole day. graphics is not great but the game play is great. i was able to finish again twilight princess after finishing my breath of the wild on my switch. wii is one of the greatest console created by nintendo 100M sales backs it up.
I just used my Homebrewed Wii today to play some games, and it is still my 2nd favorite thing to game on 3rd is GameCube and #1 Is PC. #WiiWouldLikeToPlay
Same!
The games I love on my wiii....the game cube games !
i have an old wii and god damn its dirty. cleaned it and everything. i have TONS of games from resident evil to super mario
I feel like Skyward Sword is really one of the more forgotten Zelda games, which is a shame because it was a lot of fun to play
If you grab a Wii2Hdmi converter you can get HD picture and it’s as cheap as 10 bucks.

@Mrsuperking RUclips631 yea and the wii is better than switch.
My favorite Game on the Wii was Mario Party 9 and Mario Kart Wii. I love those Games so much and I still do.
remember that you can softmod the heck out of the wii and even get back online functionality for many games for example mario kart wii or smash bros brawl
even wiiconnect24 has a patch that lets you use the message board, and most of the channels like the check mii out channel. Riiconnect24
I play mkw online regularly still even tho i got a switch, i once tried brawl online and its TERRIBLE
Brawl online was always flawed and full of lag I don't ever remember having a stable game.

It actually feels a little bit like NES controller...
I used Wii very little, but played one game a lot (sideways controller)
about a year ago i played mario on the original NES, and it feels a bit simliar
Its akward to hold, but when you stop thinking about it, and dive into the game, it does it job good.
for me when i can forget the controller exists, it does it's job good
Just bought a Wii 1 week ago and homebrewed it! I really am 100% in your opinion the Wii is so nostalgic!
Hey the WII HDMI adapters 5$ generally allows you to switch it into 480 hd at least and you can see the difference, a must have accessory
The wea was the most accessible consul I’ve ever used as a blind person. In fact, I still have the Wii all these years later and it still one of the best consol I’ve ever played!
Firas Abueida now I’m curious, what games did you play?
Sam Ashworth some games are kind of easy to use as a blind or visually impaired person. We sports and just dance are some of them. There are probably others I don’t know about.
Sam Ashworth I actually play Wii sports.
Firas Abueida how r u typing rn? I’m honestly rly interested haha

Me - Nope, this is why I am in the Hospital
i still have a wii nice that u do this xD
See ya!
Good informative video. Might give Mario Galaxy 1+2 another run through. Thanks ✌
The Wii was my first console, My favorite game was ‘New’ Super Mario bro’s Wii.
My favorite game is super mario strikers charged football, i think its the most underrated game ever
Mine is LEGO Star Wars: the complete saga and Wii sports
*accidentally hits TV while trying to play Wii Tennis*
Wii is still quite usable and playable. It is also pretty darn good to emulate older stuff. Still one of my favorites consoles and people still ask me to homebrew their wiis.
Nothing can beat the wii! It’s by far the best game console ever! I miss playing it
First day they closed the schools due to Covid 19, we broke out several old game systems, including 2 Wiis, and hooked them up in various locations in the house to keep busy in lockdown. Hadn’t played in years but suddenly it’s back in action
Even though I didn’t grew up in the 2000s the Wii was my first console and it was so magic
I remember when my cousin and I played wii sports boxing and having a blast
Damn you must be like 9, that's crazy how old we feel...
I love your channel, your my favorite tech reviewer. Keep up the good work! 😀
I just busted mine out this week and homebrewed it. Now I’m using it daily again 💙
This was the first console/game I ever played online I was about 5/6 and this video reminds me of games such as Mario, Mario party and such more, Thanks for making this memorable video!
>"Only $30 bucks"
>Only shows consoles that cost $70+ with postage.
As of now, there is no better family video game over Wii Sports.
@@j7sportvideo24 How would you get in trouble?
@jwathas I did it already and its all good. Its a real beast tbh. Nothing to be afraid of
@jwathas Yeah a lot do it and honestly a hacked wii is amazing.
Tron Evolution on the Wii was a unappreciated masterpiece
I should check that. I really loved tron 2.0 back in 2003ish. I mainly use my wii to play gamecube and snes games
@@ressljs It also got me back in after a long hiatus, really a well-rounded console.
I miss the old times with the Wii.
They should make Wii 2 - there is SO MUCH potential - Wii was such a big success, but we somehow STILL don't have too much motion control that ISN'T VR
(VR is great, but its completely different experience than Wii for example. VR is just as different from Wii as its from a PC)
As the original Wii proved, there are plenty of games that can take advantage of Wii-like controls.
It would have place both for old players who had an original Wii, as well as new kids, who might grow up with potential Wii 2 in the similar way kids grew up 10 years ago.
They could remaster old Wii classics to Wii 2, and port remasters of games that originated from Wii, but went to other platforms back to Wii 2 (like "Kirby's Epic Yarn" from Wii, with got remastered as "Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn" to 3DS)
There is a big niche in videogames consoles - consoles for kids. most consoles are targeted to ages 14-22 or something, but there arent any family consoles like Wii, with was appropriate from ages 8+ or even lower. (the exception is maybe Nintendo Switch)
I hope that when Switch once becomes too old and stops being supported, when Nintendo decides to make a new console, they'll think about Wii 2
great review of the Nintendo Wii.

Me again: I feel like a Gucci men in 2006
I was already 18 in 2006, but I have very fond memories with the Wii.
