  • "I won the lottery when that box fell through the door because without it, doesn't bear thinking about, so very, very lucky to have done that test, so please do yours."
Steve received a faecal immunochemical test (FIT) in the post on his 58th birthday. He was diagnosed stage 3 bowel cancer in November 2022. This is his story.
Every 15 minutes someone is diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK. That’s nearly 43,000 people every year, nearly 120 people every day. We're working towards a future where nobody dies from the disease.

Had Stage 3 bowel cancer in 2005. Have a colonscopy every 3 years and have polyps removed. Your positive attitude is great so wish you a long and happy life !

I find myself scanning RUclips videos now looking for answers. I stumbled across yours. I had my colonoscopy yesterday after my positive fit test of 400.
It was a fast track through the Gp as I have quite severe anaemia, but no bleeding that is noticeable.
I’m a bit sore in places after the colonoscopy as they took quite a few polyps for biopsy . I’m in limbo stage now, not quite knowing whether I’ve been lucky or not.
I have seen your video I feel slightly more confident in the success rate of treating bowel cancer, so I can go forward with a slightly more positive outlook . Thank you
