    8:22 I love this way of cutting the strips BEFORE you sew, while your work is already flat on the table. Other makers sew first, cut thread, move the work out from under the needle, then cut off the excess. You have removed several steps, creating a more efficient method.

    That’s lovely, thank you, will you do a video how to join the blocks? Enjoy all your videos.

      I've already done videos on how to join QAYG blocks together and have links to some of these in this video's Description.

      I have previous videos on how to put blocks together when doing the QAYG technique. There are a ton of ways to put log cabin blocks together online.

    Kim. I really like this technique. Followed you all the way to the end and then am now confused with how you put them together to create a quilt. I did go to your link at the bottom of the video to see how you put together this type of block in an earlier creation, but you didn't use a backing on that one during the quilt as you go method. Nor have you put any sashing between or around the creation? How do you suggest putting together these blocks when you have already given them a backing? And can you still add sashing? borders?

      I have several videos on putting QAYG blocks together and you'll find these on my channel (I might not have included all of them in this video's description). It's up to you if you want to put sashing between blocks or not - I wouldn't in the case of a log cabin block. I don't have videos on using sashing with QAYG blocks but you can search and there are many videos on ways to do this.

    I really like this method of putting the top, batting and back together all at once. How do you put the blocks together as it shows in the example layout? Or have you already covered that in another video?

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts  2 года назад

      You can just stitch them together with a ¼" seam as usual or you can add sashing, if you prefer. I don't have a video on doing the sashing but you can find several online.

    What does the back of that block look like with all the stitching?

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts  2 года назад +2

      You can definitely see the stitching on it and if you don't like this look, you can make this block by just stitching it on batting and then adding the backing and a bit more stitching to hold it together so you won't have a ton of stitch lines on the backing fabric.

    How do you attach the quilted squares?

      There are many different ways to do this - with or without sashing. I don't have a video on this yet but you can find many of them by searching online.

    Why did you put the fabric to face and sewed on the wrong side?

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts  2 года назад

      Do you mean right sides together? This is always how you put together quilt blocks so that when you open the pieces up, you don't see the seams.
