Thank you for this amazing Interview. I had the honor to watch Prof. Lübbecke's talks at CO@Work 2020. Concerning the popularity of the field, I personally struggle with two main problems. In Industry, I always have a hard time introducing and marketing OR whenever I see a usecase whereas if there is something that you can wrap under AI or ML then suddenly it's fine if people do not get the concept as long as the solution has those 2 buzz words. My second issue is that I studied Industrial Engineering with a minor in Mathematics and Computer Science. Unfortunately, I believe that the Master Programs in OR in Germany at least are custom tailored to those students with a Mathematics Degree. On the other hand, Data Science programs for example are more inclusive.

Thank you very much for your comment Sarah! I can totally relate!
I am a avid follower OR work from GERAD . Please interview Professor Francois soumis. He has done some amazing work in OR .☺️
That is so true, There are more than 100 YT channels for AI and tutorials but not very much about OR and optimization.
