  • Alcohol Addiction - Trues Stories of hope and recovery
In this deeply personal account, join me on a journey of overcoming alcohol addiction against all odds. From the age of 14, I spiraled into a cycle of increasing dependence until I found myself enslaved by alcohol by the time I turned 30. Despite numerous failed attempts, I discovered a beacon of hope through sharing my story on a video platform. Now, at 66 years old, I stand over 1000 days sober, a testament to the power of resilience and determination. If you're seeking inspiration and guidance in your own battle against alcohol addiction, my story offers a ray of hope and a path towards recovery. Watch now and discover that no matter how dark the path may seem, there's always light at the end of the tunnel.

This is something that alcoholics need to hear, regardless of the reactions. Being honest about everything is essential to me and my program of recovery. Ive failed 9000 times and the 9001th time got me sober. 15 years of pure misery vs 2+ years of serenity.

I decided enough was enough when I was told by my doctor I was not only pre-diabetic but could lead to serious health problems the first thing I decided to do with the Help from My Wife was to not socialize with friends who also had the same problem but was not prepared to do anything about it sadly some are no longer with me this will now be my 11th year free from Alcohol Addiction 👍

Amen. The biggest wake-up call you can have (whether one is an alcoholic or just a heavy drinker) is that lightbulb moment where you realise the only thing you have in common with all those “drinking buddies” is….alcohol. The trick is to replace it all with actual interests and hobbies- I took up archery and made half a dozen new friends with a shared passion. Then you sit back at some point and reflect on the colossal waste of money involved in 20+ years of boozing. Tens of thousands of pounds down the toilet while we were wrecking our health…possibly the most stupid pastime other than smoking!

God bless you. It runs in my family and half the addiction is to the pub camaraderie - the endless nights of useless but entertaining banter. But at some point most of us realise that our pub friends aren’t really true friends; all we really have in common is booze. Take the drink away and 99% of those “friendships” fall apart. And when you try to give up or just cut down it’s astonishing how many of them actively try to pressure you into drinking! The only way out is to quit the pub and find actual hobbies and new friends- real friends with a shared interest. And once you make the break, even just a month later, you see how easy it really was to just ditch the drink and all its delusions.

Well resisted, Stephen. Keep it going. - -- I thought you'd gone a bit quiet, now I know why. Hope it was somewhere nice.

Alcohol impacted generations of my family but grandfather and father quit and I plan on never starting.

The fact about that "no one will help" show that we are NOT a social species lol
