@@1966Manjit I was the promoter of this event.. Solely organised this and many more shows only because I was a die hard fan of Alaap and still am. I also was behind the camera and got the sound engineer to connect a lead straight into my video recorder the results were great unlike the video camera.. Someone let me down last minute so had to use this camera. But am still blessed to have this recording till this date.

So agree with you.. What Channi bhai has done for Punjabi music is commendable and I am living proof that through his Music I learnt Punjabi and am fluent all thanks to Channi bhai and Alaap. God bless 🙏
Saw Alaap many times in 1980's and 1990's - even had them play at my Waleema. What a band. Can't beat the old skool bhangra. Awesome voice by Channi. Harjit Gandhi (late) on keyboards was brilliant too - and a thorough gentleman. Went up to him at a concert once when I was around 16 in 1987 (The Studio in Streatham) before Alaap had started their set. Asked him for a special request. He said 'we don't usually play that - but for you, we will today'. I Will never forget that, and they played the song too - and he also gave me his autograph. I still have it. May he rest in peace.
That's really nice to hear. They were the best bhangra band ever and in my heart still remain the best for there unique sound and music and above all there Live performances which no one could ever match.. By the way that Gig at the studio in Streatham was organised by myself and my brother.. It was absolutely amazing with a brilliant turnout. Channi Singh is my mentor and the main reason I am able to speak fluent Punjabi through there wonderful music over the year's 🙏

Bizarrely as I was watching this video, my youngest daughter said to my eldest daughter ‘that’s your dad - look what kind of music he listens to’. The eldest said ‘no, that’s your dad - you look at his taste in music’. Luckily the Mrs butted in and said ‘he’s both yours dad - and his taste is a million times better than the rubbish you two listen to’😀
