Cause you were so nice on your short eye came to watch the whole thing 🎉
Looks awesome! I would highly recommend tying the bottoms of both steel beams together in a least three places to create a true box truss. This will resist lateral forces when the bridge has live loads imposed upon it. Great job guys! 👍👍🔥🔥
i think a big concern would be the flat boards on the beams holding moisture, shouldve put some pieces between the wood and the metal so air can get in
To think that y’all would’ve had to pissant those One or two at a time without that machine, really makes one appreciate our modern technology
That turned out really nice. The OSHA approval in the beginning made me smile 😁.
Me too! As I once worked for OSHA 😂😂
Steps maybe a better alternative as dirt may wash away with rains and connect the I beams together to prevent rollout
This is really cool guys, I almost wish I could’ve been a part of this build
We had amazing people like yourselves build a bridge here for a DiscGolf course. Local hoodlums came and busted up one of the bridges. Rebuilt way stronger. Hope y’all don’t get hoodlums great build
Looks great. Stacking and making one cut was smart! I’d say “That ain’t going nowhere!”
I cut two planks with a circular saw getting that nasty dust on me and said there’s a better way
Theyll be rained out eventually and itll move. Great job😊
It's gonna be good.. 👍
Well done
Nice job🎉
Quite the bridge!! Those beams were huge. Looks good guys!!
dem boys really enjoy disk golf!!!
Thank you, and the others, for working to better your community.
Good morning Brock. God bless and have a wonderful 4th of July! ❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
A concrete base for the ends would have been nice. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a few concrete retaining wall blocks embedded in the ground. 1' x 1' x 18''
We just tried to secure the ends yesterday, and that will be tomorrow’s video
Nicely done..have you considered assembling the left over pieces into a effigy of the God Grotok? Burphhhhh..😊
Howdy Brock! Wow, that bridge turned out awesome! You could drive across that thing lol. Well done guys - I'm sure it will be enjoyed for many years to come! Thanks for sharing 🤠
Heck ya looks fantastic Brock. Yall did on free ninety free budget.
Yes sir
Very cool! Good job, guys!
That is so cool. Great Job. Awesome project! came out great Brock!!!
Very cool guys, great job.
Good for you!! nothing wrong with "doing things that help others" i encourage you to continue to assess any hazards, i might have used a respirator to be on the safe side and plastic gloves to protect any skin surfaces, but please dont join the tree huggers and bird watchers who like to sit in their tv chair and criticize all those people that make it possible for those people to do just that!!
Great job guys!
That oughta last a long while with that creosote. It's basically petrified. Wicked I beams. Nervous you measured right for the bulk cut 😭 Final super cut is soo satisfying 😮
That bridge is going to last a very l-o-n-g time. If they made it wider, they could have driven a tank across it.
Awesome job, way to give back. Happy Independence Day. Enjoy the family!
Great vid, keep 'em coming.
That turned out great fellas, that bridge will probably outlast the pyramids!
Might have centered the top boards and left them long, saved cutting them and even though they weren't exactly the same length the unevenness would have given it that rustic look.
Good work guys!
Nice bridge!
Great build. The local disc golf club owes you a case a beer at the very least!
That turned out nice.
Looks to be a pretty strong design. Could have used a vertical support in the middle. I imagine it would flex a little if you dropped a couple sherman tanks on it with the current design.
I like it just disappointed it wasn't dug in to be flush with existing ground with a concrete pad
I definitely hear what you’re saying, but this wasn’t really my project and they had zero dollars for a budget
I donated my time in machines for like six or eight days to help out here, but I can only do so much
GREAT FREAKIN JOB BETTER FREAKIN CREW FAREAL
I would drill some holes in the lower flange of the I beam and drive 4ft rebar through that into the ground and top with a rebar nut, 4 places!
Great teamwork guys! Happy 4th! 🇺🇸
Good job! KC Don 😉
Looks cool! Right when you said look at that view, your end screen popups blocked the view.
Brock , great job on the bridge building, the DOT needs you !😊
I think I would have looked at other bridges in the area, especially those greater than 70 years old, to get a picture of how much bulk will be needed to withstand 59 to 60 year storms.
1. Need proper footing
2. cross-beam weld supports
yea with an exavator wouldn't be too much work too. Also some protection for the wood wouldn't be bad.
Great job , I would love to have that wood.
That’s what she said!
look at this ryobi impact ad. the nerve of these guys 🤣
Happy 4th Brock.
Can you tell me the details of how you attached the wood to the top of the steel I beam? What did you use for screws? Did you have to pre-drill holes?, ect. Thank you Steve
Pre-drilled holes and then used a large diameter self tapping screw
Thank you
Hey Brock! Great “re-purposing” as we call it here in Oklahoma ~~ can you tell us what fasteners you used to screw your runners to the I beams? We’re building one at our steam engine show grounds in Pawnee~~ thanks for having such a servant heart!! Edit*** read your replies about pre-drilling and self tapping screws~~ hats off to a worthy build!
They used a really large diameter, self tapping screw, but they still had to pre-drill the holes
I remember that much but I didn’t buy them and I wasn’t the one running the screws so I don’t remember exactly what they were
That was a helluva lot of pre-drilling ~~! Steel ain’t like oak!
Note: Made it here from the Shorts video.
Thanks for telling me. I get so many views on shorts but RUclips has made it harder for people to find the long version. There is a link on the screen, but they don’t let you put links in the comments anymore.
Did y'all cut about 10inchs off the one side? Why not center board and leave over hang? Add handrails directly over i beams and no worries for presumed rot. But its done now. Thx for sharing
I missed how the boards were attached to the beams. Did you drill through the steel? Those screws went in kind of easy.
You didn’t miss it, we didn’t really show it in the video. Not on purpose.
We pre-drilled through the beam and then used a large self tapping screw.
@@RockhillfarmYT thanks. Was wondering how you did that!
Is a railing needed to prevent lawsuits if someone falls off?
It looked like part of those boards had the crown down instead of up; do you expect these to be cupping in the next few years?
Can we get a location of said Disc Golf Course! I would love to see your handy work, as well as, play a round!
The Ballard’s in Baxter Springs, Kansas
@@RockhillfarmYTThank you, I'll have to check it out if I'm in the area!
Those are some beefy I-beams!
Just curious Brock, on those Beefy I-beams.... where did you guys source them from? I would have no idea where to find something like that!
@@OldIronAcres they are expensive as hell new. I'd love to get some as well!
@@southbridgeforestHOA - - I'm positive they are pricy new. I bet possibly up to a couple hundred $$ a foot! I'll keep my eye out here in Kentucky for any bridges missing beams!
Why didn't you pour some footers for the beams to sit on?
It’s not my project and they didn’t have any equipment out there.
I am going to take the tractor back and build dirt up all the way around the base on both sides for a ramp. Should be pretty solid for just a walking bridge.
Where can I find the video from start to finish ?
looks good. I did the same with cut telephone poles 2x6x10Ft.
The boards started to rot in between each. Suggest you treat them with that green copper stuff in the groove. pour it on.
Unfortunately a lot of timber was wasted (offcuts).
Brock, do you have footage of putting those beams in place?
No. Wasn’t there. Not really my project. Just helping
Wya? Im in the midwest, are u tryna say frisbee golf?
They probably call it frisbee golf in some places, but here it’s called disc golf.
This course is the Ballard’s in Baxter Springs ks
What disc golf course is it
Ballards in Baxter springs Kansas
Just eyeballing it, watch out you don't get sued when it gets wet and comes down. And it looks like it will, fairly quickly. Nothing personal now!
agree
Thank God You don't believe in "wiifm"(whats in it for free). To many people today believe that you can't get something for nothing. A few good people believe that helping out the community is payment enough. You and your crew are good people. May the lord bless ya'll.
I think this project is awesome! This brings me back 40 years when my brother and I helped our brother-in-law to build a shed in his backyard. (“Full disclosure” i’ve had two martinis. 🤪) We built it in a day and it lasted for 30 years, just about the time he decided he couldn’t mow the lawn anymore. We celebrated with a fifth of the apple jack (70 proof) I made the winter before and our wives were pissed that we weren’t able to do anything after that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 My brother and I have to pay people to do the things we used to have fun doing and our brother-in-law is in a nursing home and can’t walk or feed himself. 😢 Live in the moment, there will be a time when you can only watch life go by. ✌️🫶🙏
If only if you had a flat bed trailer that had stake pockets and stakes to remove when loading and unloading 🤔😒🤔
Yeah, that would be awesome. But I don’t.
Well done
