Not a usual commenter, but wanted to reach out to say how much I have valued your daily videos. We all have tough years, but your skill and passion really comes through
Jacked rabbit is really good. Ravenous just means it enters with X counters on and draws a card if X is 5 or more. Jacked rabbit is good to play with X = 0 or at any higher mana value so it’s great for the curve, and is busted if you can pump its power. I really think you should have taken it over SFM with no equipment or wandering emperor there
17:08 This is actually crazy for 4 cards left. Guess your colors were open. I think you should have taken the Pyrokinesis here. You can blow out people so hard with that one and Winds just seems like a worse Path. Actually crazy that every single game after round 2 game 1 was just unlucky. You came so close to going 3-0.
Merry Christmas! Would you be interested in doing a cube stipulation video? My stipulation is: at least one pip of every color of mana must be in your main deck at all times (disregard the "colorless symbol.") Cheers
I think you're underrating Pre-war formalwear. It's a really efficient card when you have good cheap threats, and the combo with Phelia blinking it is game winning. Containment priest is also a good card, especially with Parallax Wave, so I think that pick is fine, but I wouldn't dismiss pre-war formalwear so quickly.
I think your deck was better than the way it played out the last 2 matches. Some of your best cards did not show up in your opening hands (or at all): - never had a fast Mox start - never had a T1 Ragavan - never cast your best non-Mox card (Fable) But maybe it is an issue of not mullliganing aggressively enough? Some of the hands you kept were not great, but still within the range of acceptable keeps.
That 2nd match, it was clear that the op had a strong deck with great cards and it was also clear that they were not playing the deck close to optimally. In the 3rd game you played around the strong cards as though the op would make the optimal plays and I think that may have impacted the match. It's tough to not assume another player won't play optimally... Definitely the desperation twister was very lucky for the op. On the turn you killed Oko, perhaps you could've held the Solitude and cracked Oko for 3 through the hexdrinker. Then you bolt it and they spend the next turn leveling up hexdrinker then you take it down with either apparition or Solitude. Tough match though....
Discard effects are nasty in cube ( cant believe they actually printed this back in the day) … there is that other broken card with pay Xswamp, target player discards X ( i think it is called mindtwist). We need ancestral knowledge to deal with some of this stuff ! Or Griselbrand, pay 7 life draw 7.
Paul basing what he plays based on the analytics... forgetting its a family holiday weekend. There might be truth to the viewership numbers or it's just a seasonal thing. Might want to look at the impact after a week. Also you grow you channel by trying new things that attract viewers through the algorithm to subscribe. Of course... the best thing you could do is a collab w/ LSV on a cube draft to boost the numbers a touch.
Honestly you can just look at how the Vintage Cube vids from the beginning of the channel re-launch performed, it's unfortunately pretty obvious that the people are more interested in the new draft formats than the Vintage Cube performances, even if the drafts trophy/do well compared to this recent revisit (I thought this deck could go the distance, just really tough beats all around this week). like I love watching guys like him and Kenji do Vintage Cube, but I've also watched them draft this cube for 7+ years, so I mostly know what to expect and just watch the little variations. I've understood for a long time why they don't make these vids anymore; they do not pull the views like these new/modern formats do.
Hey Paul, do you still feel like you're improving? Do you feel like a stronger player now than a few months ago since you've been streaming again, aside from rust falling off. Merry Christmas to you and yours
@@haumph Just a random commenter. Learned magic thru MTG Arena. Hit mythic a few seasons coming from strategy game experience + watching a lot of you and Numot. I really want to like MTGO for its more 'serious' gameplay + better card selections but just can't get into it, UI feels way too dated for me. But watched this video and loved the insane games. I definitely prefer MTGA content but support whatever you do :)
It's kind of a bummer because Vintage Cube is so, so much more fun and interesting to watch than anything on Arena. My favorite videos Paul did back in the day were his cube drafts, it's a shame people won't give it a shot.

Thanks so much, that means a lot to hear!

Agreed. Jacked Rabbit is really good, and goes up to being insanely good with skull clamp.
great call
We love vintage cube!
Tough beats. Understand the frustration. Great content though and appreciate all the hard work! Thanks.
yeah I thought this was going to do much better for sure
Merry Christmas PC. Today we celebrate not being in control, but with heavy hearts.
Merry christmas mr Cheon, wish you the best
Merry Christmas!

Happy holidays!
Cube! Love me some cube Paul!

quite possibly. I definitely don't mulligan enough

Pre war formalwear is kinda crazy with Phelia
oh man didn't think of that

Or good oldfashioned counterspell 😅😅😅

if it was a small drop off i'd keep going but a 60-70% drop is a lot

i'm definitely stronger than i was at the start of the year without a doubt.
the mtg online ui prob is a turnoff to arenas players that what i thought when i first started watching lsv
Yeah it’s my last cube draft for RUclips for the time being. I enjoy the format well enough but people seem to want arena content!

Opening power?! Clearly, this is not a LSV video. Edit: wow the upheaval game :)
I know, right?
👀
You sound computerizsd. Not in love

Mtgo is rigged af
