- A look at a new Chinese LCR meter from Applent www.applent.com/
Note for some reason some ebay sellers blank out the manufacturer name - search for "touch lcr meter"
Or look in their Aliexpress store : www.aliexpress.com/store/109301 Наука
Aside from the review, Mike's exploration of characteristics of various components at 23:41 and subsequent is gold!
The tips about inductors and caps were great. I'm a new EE and don't really have a mentor at my company so I could go years without coming across gems like that.
Thanks for taking the time Mike.
I wonder if they still sell these, probably under the name "Keeptight"
This one seems quite reasonable... I might give it a go over my BK 879 but the BK has been a good piece of gear and obviously has name recognition.
I think we are seeing the same evolution with Chinese kit that we saw with Japanese kit back in the day.
As always, great video Mike.
Thanks for sharing.
Used mine for a month, and it is working fine. Fast and precise. I am a amateur who wanted to sort a large amount of caps and resistors. Thanks Mike for a good review!
Steve Henriksson Does the LCR still OK? What do you think about the LCR after 5 months?
Still working perfect. I am very happy.
Steve Henriksson Nice! Many thanks
Another use for a magnet on an inductor is to have a control on saturation, so that you can get a linear current ramp from a step input ( over a certain small range) rather than an exponential one. Used a lot in CRT TV sets for scan correction. With the toroid you are recommended to use a cable tie or glue it with electronics grade silicone or epoxy. Look as well at the changes when you heat or apply pressure to the ferrite.
Nice to see that the Chinese CAN produce decent electronics! I don't have an LCR meter, wondering if I should buy one now...
Thanks for the insight into your amazing electronics world! you inspire thousands with your knowledge.
Very nice video, thanks. Pretty amazing for that pricetag. About the unpopulated switch on the topside : Look at the 826 Model. It rather looks like an alternative place for a speaker. There are little holes (like an Agilent star) which look pretty much like ventholes used to support speakers.
Nice review, as always. I wonder how much you help (or hinder) sales. Thanks Mike.
Another great video! I find I'm learning a lot from your off-the-cuff remarks as anything else. Thanks again :-)
duża wiedza i kompetencja. swietna recenzja at825. sam posiadam at825 i 826
There is also the AT810 benchtop LCR meter, which oddly enough has a VFD display...
ah, the first good video on youtube today
They usually specify electrolytics(or any large cap.) at 100 or 120Hz test frequency, that's why you get lower values measuring at 10kHz...
Nice review, thank you. I might also buy one similar to this.
omitted (poly) fuse - marked F901
Does anyone know the password for the "service" button yet? Just curious.
My new unit is reading way off when using the provided probes (Test fixture atl501C) Even after running the open/short cal routine a 1 ohm resistor measures 23 ohms!, 10ohms meausures 1.6MEGA ohms!. However, if I insulate the 'Guard' contacts with a piece of paper, the unit seems to measure correctly. All the probe contacts ohm out correctly, inside the unit showed no obvious damage. Any ideas?
Just got one of these and working kind of nice for me anyway. BTW, my "test report" pages actually do have different test values on them, so at least they don't seem to just photocopy one and send it out. So far, mine is pretty accurate on Capacitance and resistance anyway.
Which acquisition software do I use for this one? Can someone please direct me to a working download link. Mine came without one and their site is crap, no description whatsoever. Can't download 90% of their soft, and whatever I can download, does not install just a bunch of installation errors.
I wasn't referring to you.
hi mike, did you try to "rig" up the 825 into 826? :D
im not sure if to go for AT826, 100kHz ...
Interesting if it's a fairly new design that the calibration certificate was dated in 2012.
(The Canadian prices are $230 for the cheapest one and $560 for the big one). For an extra $3 in components and different firmware...
Does it measure in-circuit components? Do you recommend this meter?
Can an lcr meter such as this be used to measure "in circuit" esr? Like a conventional esr meter? Thanks
I was looking at those batteries and the adapter and it reminded me of my Chinese Android tablet computer that cost £30. Are Chinese tablets safe? Is it likely or unlikely it will explode and I wonder if the batteries are protected type? Its fast but the power supply looks cheap and won't charge using USB.
Good video, thanks for info on components and great tips :)
Mike, you have a good lucid mind, I wonder if you have ever considered applying that to the UFO situation?. In case you haven't looked into it, I can assure you it is quite real, as in exotic ET vehicles visiting earth and in large numbers. It's rather technically fascinating with a surprising amount of hints as to its operation and further surprising in that it's quite relatable. Seemingly high voltage and resonant RF/magnetic stuff used to invoke funky physics. Maybe we could figure it out.
Bought AT826 LCR.
Hi Mike, thanks for the video. I'm thinking of getting an LCR meter either this one or the Agilent U1733C. Features wise, would you consider the U1733C over this or not?
I wouldn't consider the Agilent, not a $380.00 price for a LCR that doesn't even have the 4 wire ohms feature.
Mark Palmer Ended up getting a U1733C. Might also get an AT826 as a second meter.
i was planning on bringing in 10 units of the at826 but with all the hassles i'm getting, i just can sell this to anyone, the horrors i have gone thru with this and still going thru. it will cost more to get it fixed here if someone could fix and calibrate it, but there isn't. such a shame, i had some high hopes on this 100khz at826... i am still feeling like wth is this crud, this can't be happening. sorry for the rant mike.... i just feel so s**t out of luck.
peace out.
What academic qualifications do you have in the area of engineering?
how do you enter the service menu there is a password to enter!
I've just bought one of these (AT826 model) and am rather disappointed it doesn't have a direct current resistance range.
>
you are lucky you got that to give you some readings, mine is garbage big time. i should post the links to the vid and all the pics, shorting out before each reading and getting crud as a reading. they wont warranty the unit, did test on it the day it came in after the lith battery charged up. very disappointed, better of with a $70.00 blue esr or the b&k it is supposed to replace. good luck to you when it starts to phase out, it will go real dead readings real quick.
21:24
It has a self charging battery...look at the power level!
It looks like they've used MELF resistors in some places - what's the appeal in a product like this? It seems like they would just make assembly more of a hassle.
wow that amazing Chinese quality compared to some of the things I have torn apart.
You, Sir, seem to have missed todays update of Ashens 10 Reviews in 10 Minutes.
Apple + Agilent?
you got yourself another subscriber :)
Nice new tool
Buy the 826 to see what parts fit into the 825's empty footprints and see if you can hack it.
Ahahah I like that when you get extra bits like the travel adapter your instinct is just to take it apart.
I like the rats nest of chokes you had there. XD
Tilting bail also copycatted from Agilent U1253B :D
Putting 2 Li-Ion batteries in series like that is pretty awful. You need a third wire from the middle of the pack, so you can balance the two cells while charging.
...unless the batteries have protective circuits in between, but I seriously doubt that.
Oh, you want Chinglish - you should check out the manual for the KST V6 amateur radio handheld.
Does it look like a guy can buy the cheap one and hack it to make it the big machine (by adding the missing components)?
Jeey.. A mike Vid.!
7:44 What's that bent wire near the charge socket? Short circuit current sense shunt? Omitted fuse?
i had all options, didn't work from day one and they wont replace it, direct from distributor and manufacturer direct. they wont replace it or give me my money back, had to go to the cc company. thank god i bought it with a cc, from aliexpress alababa
so i will mail it back as it is disputed and don't work at all, my 10-20 meter is accurate compared to this at826 100Khz model with all options. they are rude, tell you that it works when clearly video and 100's of pictures say otherwise
For a 'cheap' knock-off,it doesn't seem too bad. Build quality seems decent, accuracy seems reasonable. Interface might be a bit weird, but meh. Could be worse!
Do not feed the trolls. (But if ET did land in my garden., I would do a teardown video of the craft before notifying the govt!)
Shunt for current measurement I suppose...
Replace PP for GI then you have another company.
Yes, that's the point of the copy-cat branding.
1 meg .05% wire wound of course Mikes got a box full lol
Shanzhai branding at its best!
£140 on ebay at moment for this one
Siglent? Applent? What the hell... I bet Agilent is laughin' their assess off!
Awyeeeeeah! :D
Theta in radians.
lots an lots of times lol :)
