Now everyone's complaining, but when Qlimax comes people will understand that the hardstyle scene is changing a lot since a lot of new talents showed up, including the game changers themselves, Sub Zero Project.

Love the intro, but I'd never say it was an qlimax anthem if it wasn't for the "qlimax" word used like two times in the whole track. Doesn't have the qlimax feeling at all. As much as I love Sub Zero Project I feel that it was just too early for them to make an anthem for such an important party for the harder souls. It requires a truly artistic mind to make the qlimax anthem and their energetic kicks won't make up for it this time. A qlimax anthem is not just about the kicks, it's so much more. We can see the gap now between them and artists like wildstylez, headhunterz or d-block & s-te-fan, all of whom have created some real masterpieces. Last year's anthem is a definition of a perfect qlimax anthem for me, everything matched so perfectly.. even the title and the track itself, listening to that one with closed eyes you could feel being a part of something epic, I don't feel anything listening to that one tho. Not saying it's a bad track, would probably make them another million views, but it's a damn bad qlimax anthem.
I thought they might do the Quapital since it's more in line with their style

For the ones who said « Bad Anthem » and comparing the old years of this event to nowadays. Don’t live in the past. The scene has changed, the game too. That’s why they were chosen to illustrate this new vibe in the industry of Hardstyle. I see in the comments some people complaining about the melody and the « dark feeling » of Qlmx but they will all scream and sing the melody at the D-day because an anthem is made to be repeat by the crowd you know. Hardstyle was different before, I’m agree with that fact and this was a legendary time ofc. but now many things have changed, there is so many producers out there and I really don’t know if another producer could do it better for this year, because some people will always complaining or saying that It doesn’t fits with the Qlimax atmosphere... Just enjoy the scene, if you don’t like what nowadays Hardstyle is, go move your ass in EDM festivals or something like this. honestly, we got the best scene out there, the best crowds but haters will always gonna hate. I agree people can be harsh in their criticism, but it's because they love the music and the genre and they want it to be as good as possible. Also many people aren't even comparing Game Changer to nature of our mind, and the other old classics, but to Temple of Light. Temple of Light is easily among the top 5 best anthems ever so your argument that, this is just Hardstyle today is dumb. Also of course anthems are made to be enjoyed in a crowd and even maximum force is very good when you hear it at Red Stage, that doesn't mean it can compare to No Guts No Glory or Scrap Attack. At the end of the day people aren't hating Game Changer. It's a very good SZP Track, but there is just not qlimax feeling at all

Sub Zero Project is my life
Since the theme is 'gamechanger', the anthem doesn't really feel out-of-the-box or fitting. The melody doesn't have an anthemic feel to it. The track sounds like a combination of The Project and XPRMNT.
That said, it's still a fantastic track. The choirs in the break remind me of Alternate Reality. The entire track is chock-full of energy as well. Was expecting a bit more, and definitely not disappointed.

I have no words for this anthem. I wasn’t expecting this at all. SZP nailed this anthem. It has the perfect Qlimax feeling and atmosphere, and it is related to the theme. 10/10. this is the best Qlimax anthem I’ve heard by far! It passes both Defqon 1 Anthems this year, it is just perfect. And to those of you hating on this anthem, you just can’t handle a different type of anthem. It’s good the artists are changing things up every anthem.

Allereerst gefeliciteerd voor het maken van deze anthem. Maar helaas is dit voor mij weer de zoveelste die totaal niet pakt. De laatste paar jaren waren wildstylez, coone, g4h en de psyko punks degene die de dat duistere qlimax gevoel echt lekker konden verwerken in hun anthem(naar mijn mening)
Wat niet wil zeggen dat dit geen geweldige plaat is, want dat is ie zeker. Maar niet als anthem.
Helaas is dit ook steeds vaker zo met de defqon anthem, geweldige platen op zich. Maar geen geweldige anthems.
Maar he smaken verschillen nu eenmaal. Misschien b-front volgend jaar deze geweldige kans geven ... voor een anthem wat gewoon echt weer kippenvel geeft.
Maar alsnog diep respect, ik kan het jullie (totaal) niet na doen.

People always complain. I get those critics for improvements but have you ever thought about it in the way how the anthem makers feel about the Anthem's theme and not you? Game Changer = it's something different, anthem is a bit different than previous ones. Weird?Yes. "Feels like another SZP track" well... They are Sub Zero Project and they've expressed their feeling about this year's Qlimax theme. I agree it's not on top of the best ones, but it isn't on top of the worst ones. But Myst or B-Front would be a great choice as well, especially B-Front would deserve it already. We all know Q-Dance is more and more focused on money since it's a business, but damn, it really isn't that bad. Still find it better than 'Maximum Force'. We will all dance while this track drops so yeah. If we have so many music professionals here in the comments who I mostly see criticize tracks, I would love to see you all produce at least a decent track and come so far to be able to get to make an anthem for Qlimax and I will congratulate you of course for such a way of success. Probably stress has a big role while creating an anthem too.

Exactly the same remark. I wasn't expecting much when I saw it was them, but the intro got me excited. Only to get disappointed with that melody. Not that bad but they should have done better given the importance of the event.

There is always something to complain about right? In my opinion they did a outstanding job. Can’t wait!
I'm going to be honest here; At first I was blown away, but later I think this anthem lost its momentum. Instead of being so militant about opinions, let's take a more analytical look at this anthem, and what works and what doesn't.
The intro at 0:00 starts with a loud and chaotic avalanche of sounds that are supposed to "prepare" the listener to what is about to come. That part is intense and fast - so far, so good. Then comes the intro 0:32 - a hard and heavy kick, accompanied by aggressive screeches and other hard sounds, again; very typical for an anthem - still good. At 0:58 the anthem reaches a point that most other anthems always reach. A point where evertyhing seems to speed up, and to accomplish this, the kick is often changed with another. This part is fast and really gets you moving. I'm hanging on for dear life here - good job SZP!
Then comes a most crucial element; the break1:11, and this is also where the problems begin... This is the part where the story is supposed to unfold, and the overall theme becomes apparent. While SZP have indeed endeavoured to produce a truly impressive break melodywise, it really lacks in storytelling (there is none basically)
The melody is presented in a way that's typical for Anthems 2:53, and the only thing that bothers me is the "lack" of melody. All I hear are some loud synths that "scream" more than they "sing". The beautiful thing with hardstyle (and most electronic music in general) is that the melody in itself, tells a story. It does this by triggering several emotions and nuances in the mind of the listener, and rather dissapointingly, I get nothing from what SZP presents here. The climax feels rushed and lacking in creativity. All you hear is the combinations of those screaming synths, and SZP playing a bit with their kick. All those little subtle hints of a break or change in melody that anthems in the past had, are pretty much absent.
My conclusion; All this leads to an anthem that has an amazing and intense intro, but a rushed and underwhelming climax part. I suppose this is a result of times changing, and Hardstyle evolving, and because I "left" the scene years ago, I'm not personally bothered with this edition of Qlimax having what I believe is an unworthy anthem. But they deserve credit where credit is due - and that intro was really good. I still think that the last really good anthem was The Nature Of Our Mind by DBSTF (2009).

I completely agree with most of your text, but the melody is typical szp. Its not very complicated but still provides atmosphere and the ability to shout it out when you're there. So i dont get why everybody acts surprised or disappointed about the melody when szp have never actually done a complex one in all of their tracks.

P D I have been away for 4 years now, and I didn't learn about SZP until late last year. I didn't like their style (and still don't), but I also know that this is the way this scene is headed, and that people will need to adjust to that. All that "moving forward" aside - I also know that when you hang out in a music scene for a longer period of time, you get kinda attuned to the signature sound of it, and that is why I criticize the melody, and the build-up to it. Last year's anthem had everything that "veterans" have come to know and love - and that actually surprised me a lot.

Qlimax Anthems usually in the past have gone to the producers who made the biggest impact on the scene that year, and nobody deserves that honor more than SZP. "why not someone else?" is a ridiculous question because SZP own that psystyle trend that took over this year, nobody else was more qualified to make the anthem this year.

I wasnt sure about the anthem as i was listening to the first previews. Than i was listening to the anthem earlier today on my cheap headphones and was still skeptical.
But now i am at home and was listening to it on my good headphones and now it completly sucked me in and amazed me. This is a really solid anthem! I was expecting The Dark Side 2.0 and this is something completly different so i had to get used to this new setting. But afterall the Atmosphere is HUGE!!!! 2:49 is truely amazing and gave me ghoosebumps! It took some listens but now i am loving it. Good Job!!! Cant wait to hear it live ;)

Indeed, last years Qlimax anthem from Wildstyles gave (no, correction, Still gives me... ) goosebumps, that, for me, was the best Qlilmax anthem ever made... This one here..., honestly i was glad it was done .... Good song, but not a qlimax anthem, not even close... Sorry Sub Zero, this song is not a sub but a zero to me, thumps down sorry guys
