- How to Survive the World's Driest Place- Atacama Desert
In this video we finally make it to Valle de La Luna! After the windstorm on the previous day caused everything to be closed down, we woke up extra early to head out and explore this incredible feat of nature before all the crowds arrived.
It was truly magical walking through this place and it really does feel how you’d imagine walking on the surface of the moon.

A British couple from just outside London, England. We got married in 2018 and decided instead of a honeymoon we’d travel the world together. We saved money and travel points, quit our jobs, rented our house out and boarded a one way flight in 2020. We started this RUclips channel to share our experiences with friends, family and anyone who plans to travel to the places we’re visiting. We leave TKT tips/facts in our vlogs and blogs to give information that we wish we’d had before visiting. We hope you find our content fun & useful :)

NASA uses the Atacama landscape to test rovers and other equipment for Mars missions, how cool is that?

Happy Travels, TKT xx
What beautiful landscapes! Must be so cool to explore 🤗
I’ll also get nose bleeds, I’m too used to a humid climate 😅
The salt ‘snow’ makes it looks even more unique!
That final view point is incredible! Glad you had a car so that you could go check it out 🤗
It's such a beautiful place but yes the daily nose bleeds are a whole new crazy thing to deal with 😅 we would recommend anyone to get their own car to see this place, it's the best part seeing it at your own pace!
To combat the nosebleeds it’s essential to use saline nose spray all day, throughout the day. The membranes are severely dried out at that altitude due to non existent humidity.
Wish I’d known about that at the time! Thank you though, hopefully it will help others 🙂
Hi Kirsty!! It’s me Eliza!! Xx
Hello Eliza 🖐
Wow, daily nose bleeds!! How scary! I can't even imagine. I've never had one either. Amazing drone shots as always! So incredible! I can't believe there's no life in this desert. What a unique place!
It is something I’ve learned about high altitude and definitely one of my bodies first signs that it’s not happy with it 😅
Nice
It certainly is 🤩
😘👏👏👏🇨🇱
Thank you 😊 🇨🇱
Wasn't it illegal to fly the drone in Valle de La Luna ? :P Amazing shots though !
Thankfully not. We were so pleased with how they came out, worth going early!
@@TideKnotTravellers I think you were lucky then ! When we were there in June it was forbidden unfortunately. Glas to see how it looked like from the sky. Enjoy your adventures 🎉
So sorry to hear about the daily nose bleeds, I don't think I've had one since I was a kid!
I agree that hiring a car is the way to explore this area. Biking long distances in such a dry place doesn't sound enjoyable to me.
Excited to see your next high altitude destination!
It's weird as I've never had one before, then everyday at high altitude I got them, crazy!
@@TideKnotTravellers I wouldn't have even known that was a concern at high altitudes before watching your episode.
@@Explorcation same, we have since met a few people that had them. Altitude definitely does weird things to the body 😅
Amazing! The sun going down makes a big diff to the detail you see, doesn’t it! Fab footage 👍
Completely changes the scenery, we have loved driving around SA but especially the Atacama Desert!
Awesome footage
Thank you, we were so lucky to see it in the early sunshine!
Hermoso😍
It really is! 🤩
